I have a 92 SVX with only 13k miles. It's truly an amazing vehicle. The 4-speed auto is actually great for smooth long cruising, as it was intended. The car was never really meant to be a high performance model, rather a mix of performance, style and luxury. It's most comfortable and feels the best in performance 80+mph. It's a touring car.
Really, imo, the svx is like subaru's answer to 6 cyl jdms such as Supra, GTR/Z, NSX, and if it counts, the RX7.
We in North America had the Cougar as the Mercury Cougar
they sold a few in Europe, but there were more powerful and perhaps prettier cars on the market

I think the MX-6 would have been better appreciated if they made it a coupe version of the MX-5...front engine, rear wheel drive, and not a Mazda version of the Ford Probe.

I actually had the SVX when I was near my 20's
The story of the SVX is rather tragic.
What killed it wasn't the horrible transmission which wasn't able to handle the power, despite being then only transmission subaru had at the time that could even hold the power- they really had nothing better to put behind that good H6.
The real issue was that no one could afford the price they asked for the SVX, which IIRC, clocked in at around $26,000 US when new- and adjusted for inflation it roughly works out to $56,000 new when it was still a SUBARU. They had zero pedigree at the time as no one knew who Colin McRae was, all they had was weird, boxy, economy cars and the brat which was a pure automotive novelty.
So, no one thought it was a good idea to cough up Z car, corvette, or any other premium sports luxury prices for a weird subaru.
It's a right car at a wrong time.
Bring the Probe back. Just think what the 2022 one would look like

2:48 I live in the USA so for me it was called the Mercury cougar, another company from Ford that went bankrupt in 2010, it was a more luxury version of Ford but not as luxury as Lincoln, but I know about the Ford sable, and we had the Mercury sable and the Ford Taurus

The 90's had a ton of ugly and poorly made cars, although there are some exceptions.
I don't think the SVX is that forgotten though. The Mazda Eunos Cosmo is even more forgettable.
Maybe in the US. We have plenty in New Zealand.

The Cosmo trim was a homage to Mazda's first rotary production car.
Also the SVX was sold in the US along with the Subaru Brat.

@@goosebee i couldn't tell you because there was no dyno where I was but I had straight piped it with 3 inch exhaust. I tried to teach my now wife to drive stick on it but she couldn't get moving without doing a burnout.
There was a Subaru coupe before the SVX that was even weirder than it...and more forgotten. It was called the XT, then the XT6 when they added a six cylinder engine.
i still drive a Cougar so i cant forgot it hehehe.
