As a kid....THIS was my first song, that I fell in love with, outside of my parent's choice! I finally had my own transistor radio, and listened constantly... especially at night, keeping it low, under my pillow so my parents didn't know I was still awake. Jigsaw, and Sky High became my favorite song, for my 8 year old, little heart! ❤
This song was a masterful mix of rock, soul and disco into an incredibly POP hit. It's one of those songs that gets you out of the house and prancing down the street. What a great choice. ✌️😁❤️👍🎶🎶🎶
This is a great track, the lead singer and drummer on this was, Des Dyer, he formed the band with Clive Scott, the bassist was Barrie Bernard. This was the theme for a Kung Fu crossover film, in the vein of 'Enter the Dragon' part Australian part Asian, it was called 'The Man From Hong Kong' 1975 starring Jimmy Wang Yu, Sammo Hung and George Lazenby. Jimmy Wang Yu was well known for his films, 'The One-Armed Boxer', 'The One-Armed Swordsman' and 'The Chinese Boxer', 'The Man from Hong Kong' was supposed to be the film which would launch his career in the West but in 1976 he was involved with the 'Bamboo Union' a Taiwanese triad, in a restaurant in Taipei four members of the rival 'Four Seas' triad were killed, more trouble followed in 1979 and in 1981 which put an end to his career internationally.

I remember the opening credits with a hang glider circling Hong Kong and coming in to land at a police parade ground. Think the film was also intended to rival James Bond and that was a reason for hiring George Lazenby as the villain.

During the 70’s and 80’s, the singers had to be able to sing, and the players needed to play, there was no auto-tune. When the guys hit those high notes, they brought the house down. This was also used on the movie track to The Man From Hong Kong.

Pop disco! Or disco pop -- either way, fun memory from the mid-70s, thanks for this one. A similar fast mover from around the same time was "Who Loves You" by the Four Seasons, with vocal by the great Frankie Valli.
A perfect companion song to this is "Who Do You Think You Are ' - Jigsaw did the original but the best version is by British group Candlewick Green - an epic production with gorgeous horns, piano, harmonies and a beautiful orchestral crescendo.
Great song and great reaction! You want more singing drummers Jay, then you need to react to The Romantics "What I Like About You" official music video. You reacted once to The Romantics, a year ago, "Talking In Your Sleep", I think What I Like About You is their best song.
A mid 70's song that sounds timeless to me. It made me think of "Long Tall Glasses (I Can Dance)" by Leo Sayer where his voice sometimes also rises towards sky-high.
A big hit in the US and top ten UK. If memory serves it was featured as the theme song of a low budget martial arts movie called The Man from Hong Kong featuring a former James Bond actor George Lazenby
Where singing and drumming is concerned, it's not drumming while singing that is difficult, it's singing while drumming that is the issue. For most drummers the drumming part is second nature, so the fact that you are singing doesn't really affect you, but singing while you are drumming has various problems. Firstly, you are sat down, which removes a huge amount of breathe support. This is not too much of an issue if you are singing well within yourself and not holding any really long notes, but is restrictive either way. Secondly, the movement caused by the drumming and the impact of the sticks on the drums has to be controlled enough to not affect the voice. Imagine trying to hold a steady note while jogging, any large impact or jolt to the body will be heard in the note. All that aside, I don't think I've heard this song for 40+ years, so it took me back a bit.
One of my favs from the 70s, there is also a dance remix , quite powerful at 1000 watts. Would always wait to here this and Fox On The Run from Sweet on the radio. Miss it and it would be back on soon, usually within a few hours.

If memory serves it was featured as the theme song of a low budget martial arts movie called The Man from Hong Kong featuring a former James Bond actor George Lazenby
Drummers who sing, off the top of my head.....The Eagles, Grand Funk Railroad, The Monkees, The Carpenters, Rare Earth, and, of course, Phil Collins.
Fantastic! I danced to this in nightclubs in Sydney Aust in the 70’s 💃🏿🕺🏿🥳
Yes .That remix was done by NEWTON in the 90's and Lez Dyer from jigsaw (lead singer /drummer appeared in the video too 🎶
This song was one of the songs my marching band (30+ years ago) used for parades.
Rare Earth…rock band with a singing drummer
The seventies was the decade of my teens....what great music 😊
Brings me back to the 90s. Art Bell used this song a lot in his bumper music on Coast to Coast AM.
I've always loved this one, too! 🌤 Thanks so much, Jay & Amber.
A blast from the 70's vault, love it.
