Ding, ding, ding - we have a winner folks! This has been a favourite since my '70s childhood. Fun fact- the song was the theme song for the movie The Man From Hong Kong (starring Aussie ex-007 George Lazenby). Hugely popular song down here in Oz, however the band had to go by the name British Jigsaw here as we had an already established Aussie band called Jigsaw before the UK band's songs got down here to us.
An Australian Hong Kong co produced movie! It was supposed to be a Bruce Lee movie and Jimmy Wang Yu was cast after Bruce died. Apparently Jimmy was quite the ass during production. I remember this song well but never saw the movie as I was too young and it had lots of boobies. Notable for having the Asian action hero having a euro-Australian leading lady. I have since seen it and love the movie.
@@mocrg Had a car chase with a Valiant Charger chasing a Falcon I think. Also they blow the top of the building (baddies penthouse) to bits at the end. They blew it sky high.
Some of THE BEST music came out of this era. Jigsaw was so underrated but they put out the track for the movie The Man From Hong Kong. Great vocals to this song but i think it's the orchestra background and the reverb echo effect i love the most about this song. That was so 70's using a lot of orchestral background instruments to songs. Especially the disco era MY FAVORITE.
Not heard this in a long time. I have to say, you play some of the best tunes. This transports me back to my youth club days back in 70s. Guaranteed to fill the dance floor 💃🕺🔥🎙🎵
There's just no decade that can compare to the 70s. I was born in '61, so I was in the thick of it all, thank God! All the one hit wonder songs. Most bands had a brass section that just blew the tunes away. There was still innocence in pop music...It's wonderful to relive these songs with you two. Your true appreciation is heartwarming. Much love and thanks for the great tunes!
This came out when I was 4 years old and it was by far one of my favorite songs on the radio. It still holds a top 5 songs I loved during my childhood.
The drummer /singer formed a band that did the wedding/party circuit, absolutely fantastic. He changed the words of evis' song 'the wonder of you' to 'sue' at my aunties party. Rip my aunty Suzanne
I was 11 when this song came out. It is as amazing today as it was then!!! This song plays prominently on my favorite playlist 💕 Thanks for playing and enjoying it 😃
I loved this song when I was a kid. My best friend had this disco collection from K-Tel on record and one of the songs on it was Sky High. "You, you've blown it all sky high By telling me a lie Without a reason why You've blown it all sky high!!!!!!!!!!"
@Billy Wolf well that's not fair on the battery lol I remember being upgraded to the boombox that played 8-track tapes, to walk around with it ONLY took like 14 D batteries😂
@@lindajardee Right. Of course, Phil Collins comes to mind...and Gary Lewis, of Gary Lewis and the Playboys played drums on occasion, although I believe professional session players like The Wrecking Crew played the instruments in the studio...not sure.
My aunt told me this was a big hit back in 1975 in Thailand, and she was addicted to listening to it on her W116 Mercedes with that tailored shocking pink bell-bottoms and wooden platform shoes. She always told me about her years when Disco music was just playing around the town.
WOW! This song brings back sooooo many memories; like late elementary early junior high school. So much fun; these cheesy mid 70s bubblebum pop songs were so damn good!
WOW!!!!! I had forgotten about this band too. Have not herd this song in years and years it is a really good song. might like - [ Yvonne Elliman - best of my love - Walk right in - small town talk - from the inside ] Great reaction shawn and mel and have a beautiful day guys.
Love that you played it from the beginning again because it is so awesome. A great song with huge production values. Listen to the horns blasting at about 4:50. They sound like elephants. This is a BIG song.
Jigsaw's other hit was Love Fire. Another 70s band that appeared briefly was the Hudson Brothers-So You Are A Star and Rendevous. Many people thought the Beatles reunited when they first heard So You are A Star.
Love the shock on their faces 😂 absolute talent in front of them. Probably my favorite song of the 70’s hands down. So glad to see other generations seeing the talent 🙏
I had completely forgotten about this gem until I heard it in a Kroger one day. Brought me to happy tears and now it’s on my playlist. So happy y’all appreciate it, too ❤
One of my all time faves. Great song. I really enjoyed watching you both open up and enjoy this rather dated music. Please do a reaction to "Fly Robin Fly" by Silver Convention if you haven't already. Same era. Can't wait to see you both melt in the groove. It's a great song with only the same 8 words throughout. Do it!
Jigsaw songwriters Des Dyer and Clive Scott received an Ivor Novello Award for that song. If you haven't yet heard the song "Here We Go Again" with Des on vocals, give it a listen to, it's pure soul. Jigsaw has an extensive catalog of really great songs they wrote and performed but never made it to the top of the charts with the exception of "Sky High" and "Love Fire".
Great song! I have to agree with you Mel, the 70's was my all time favorite. The music always makes me feel good. I don't think I have ever seen the band before, although I have heard the song a million times. I love it when he hits that high note too. Isn't it great when the drummer sings lead vocals? You don't see that too often. I can only imagine that it would be really hard to do.
I was 13 when this song came out. I did not even speak English at the time so did not know what it was about, but it blew my mind just the same. One of my all time favorites.
Bought this single the week it came out in 1975, on the Splash label and always knew it was the theme song from ‘The Man From Hong Kong’ but never looked up the film at all. Last year 2022 (48 Years after the track was released) I found a DVD of the film and watched it and it’s not a bad film from the 70s to be honest 👍 Top track I’ve tried drumming while singing it but disaster 😂 I can do one or the other but not together. 😊 Cheers Quinny
The summer I graduated high-school in 1975 this song recieved a lot of air play. They were a British band and this was some of the first of its kind disco-pop to make it on the airwaves.
Thank you for a great time when music was music , class of 1978 , Franklin rules , , Benjamin Franklin high school Los Angeles CA , love your channel keep it up ,
Strings, wah-wah guitar, pumping piano , driving horns and a singing drummer - what isn’t there to love?
havent heard this one in many years, was so lucky to grow up in ythe seventies when the radio played great songs like this all day long
Yes - loved this back in the day.. lol
100%🔥🔥🔥🔥
24/7!!!
Yes my preteen & teen years.
Same here.
Vocal while doing a drums is special great!
Songs like this make the world go around
YEP!!!
Songs like this make me smile!
I absolutely love this track ...it sounds even better now because of the nostalgia 👍🎶👌

"Love of my Life" by The Dooley's.... terrific pop/disco sound
This song was played so much on the radio in the 1970’s! I grew up as a teenager in the 70’s we had great music.
I had realised that funky guitar at the start sounds like the intro to Shaft - Isaac Hayes.
In 1975 I was in the fifth grade. My fav song. My friend and I made up a dance routine to it that I still remember. 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️
Lol 😂

This gem came out in 1975 and was a decent hit and sadly only their biggest hit. Jigsaw was from England.
As always you guys are the best love you both ❤️❤️❤️ you are so amazing

I still have all my 45's as well. Priceless
This song is worthy of that reaction! Loveddddd watching you watching them 🤣🤣 one of my all time favourit songs! 🙏

Same!! While I'm hearing this again, I think of the jingle of the station... 🎶 WLS... Chiicaaagoooo" 🎶😀
@Billy Wolf those little round ones in assorted colors!!😀 mine was white!
@Billy Wolf you got me feeling all nostalgic too lol so I looked up the one I had... it was a Panasonic R70 if you want to see it😉🎶👍

70's AM radio. Better music from a better time.
The music was amazing in the 70’s! Yes you brighten my day! Love your reactions!
Rare drummer lead singer band....one of the greatest one hit wonders from that era/genre. Perfect James Bond movie theme song.
I was just thinking that....you don't often see a lead singer/drummer.

They aren't one hit wonders. Alot of their albums and hits failed to come to the United States
Loved this when I was 13! Just rediscovered it now at 60 and play the video often when I need to feel happy!
One of my favorite songs and a one-hit-wonder. Glad you enjoyed it. My hay day.

I'm in my 60's, and even our old crappy music is better than todays music.
😄
Absolutely, completely, and totally. I'm 60, couldn't agree more.
One of the best songs of the seventies!!!
Nothing better than watching others reaction with joy for songs we love and adore!
This is right after I graduated high school. Good times.

Another major 70's favorite of mine. So glad you reacted to it.
Beautiful Couple! Beautiful Song!

I cant believe yall reacted to this!! Lol One of THE BEST 70s vibes!!!
There a song y'all need to do Benny mardones. Into the night. It was hit by him twice a rerelease fabulous song great vocals great love song
If someone likes there soul lifted up sky high , then this is the song
Here in Alabama this was a fantastic hit radio play day and night 🌃🌉
I fell in love with this song at 10 years old when it was included on a K-Tel album that I got for my birthday.
I grew up listening to that song thanks for reacting to it, the song came out in 1975 I was like 9 years old, I still listen to it even today
That's when music kept movin, and kept you dancing. Great song. Thanks y'all for posting.
One of the best blessings I ever received was being 23 when this came out and living thru all of the fantastic music that came from the 70s. WOW !

LOVED this song as a kid. I can't believe you found it. WoW!!!!
Totally LOVE this song! I feel this song.
One of my favourite 70's songs, Drummer and lead singer Des Dyer still performs to this day ❤❤❤
If he didn't sing you would think it was intro music to a 70s cop show. Like Starsky & Hutch, Beretta, Kojak, etc.
I really like some of those themes! The SWAT theme is actually a great funky tune!
This was everywhere in 75 as a kid. Loved it. The 70s...amazing
This is a big tune in 70s loved it ❤
Great Song !!!
My parents used to blast this song in the car and I remember thinking it was a song about aeroplanes. Good times!
Love the shock on their faces 😂 absolute talent in front of them.

One of the more dramatic intros in rock/pop music.
Happy sound
Pretty remarkable to have the drummer be the lead singer too. Love this song. Just so good.

love this song 💖 it remind me of my teenage time 😃 it's rare to play drum and sing in same time 🎶
Good to see young folk discovering great music (something that has disappeared from the 90s onwards)
One of my all time favorite songs!
The intro was the beginning of our local evening movie on WDRB 41 in Louisville. My neighbors sure know this one!!
