At a school in the sky where teens learn how to be superheroes, Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano) lands in a class for students who show special promise. Classmate Gwen (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) quickly cozies up to Will, but it's soon clear that she has other motives. When he learns that Gwen's mother is a villain who was defeated by his father, Steve Stronghold (Kurt Russell), Will realizes that Gwen is aiming for revenge, and he rushes to a school dance in the hope of stopping her.

Love sky high it’s an og movie
tim you messed up on your superpower. you want a connection to the speed force. you can travel through time, flash time is effectively freezing time, you don't have teleportation technically but when you can get between anywhere on earth in attoseconds that matters very little, you get pretty much everything you wanted from time manipulation and you get superspeed. on top of it
Comment your superpower you wish to have an everyone chooses the side effects that comes with the powers 😊
"My girlfriend became my archenemy, my archenemy became my best friend and my best friend became my girlfriend" that quote It's still printed in my brain
Same! Lol
Hey, that’s high school.
He couldn’t have summed it up any more succinctly and poignantly.
Pretty much, yes! That about sums up high school in a nutshell
For anyone who doesn’t know, Lynda Carter (the principal)said “I’m not Wonder Woman” actually played Wonder Woman in the 1900s series.
From 1975 to 1979. I was 3 when its original air ended, but I remember watching this show when I was 5. I had the Wonder Woman under roos, too.
I loved when I first saw this that they had cast her for the movie. The nod to her historical role was a great touch for a superhero movie.
I hate you for the 1900's you could have said 70's. 😅
What a classic to this day amazing
Really? "The 1900s?" C'mon! The 1970s were only... 50... years... ago... oh.
"I can't do anything more to help you. I'm not Wonder Woman, you know."
One of the best tongue-in-cheek jokes in this fun movie.
Absolutely! I mean, it made me laugh!
That's a joke you don't know about that apparently boys like to get in. Trouble won't go to her principal's office on purpose it was given in the special inside. Look at the movie like you know how to do those special previews before. They? Come out Linda carter was in it as she played the principal that too was funny😅
Why does that remind me of the Simpsons joke in Desperately Xeeking Xena?
"Wait, Xena can't fly."
"I'm not Xena. I'm Lucy Lawless."
Can we talk about how the pacifier is literally immortality? She got turned into a baby but remembered everything, like the implications are HUGE
Yeah, if they can configure it to just make you younger instead of into a baby will make anyone immortal
@@Knightlaw I think the way to become younger is to just not use it on a person for too long. The Commander turned into a kid for a second while taking the beam.
So if all the heroes turned to babies recall Royal Pain’s master plan, she can easily be taken out and her evil schemes will be wiped clean for good.
If you want to get technical it’s not immortality, because she could still be killed. The pacifier does anti-aging, which is still extremely impressive.
@@dearthofdoohickeys4703Immortal beings can still die.
When we say that a character is immortal, we mean that they cannot die from natural causes.
By natural causes, we mean shit like time. Or disease.
That’s why vampires are considered immortal, even though you can just chop their head off or stake their heart to kill them.
Or why gods are called immortal, even though other powerful beings can kill them too.
For example, you can kill Thor just by beating him until he dies.
But you can’t make him sick or use time to kill him. Like one time when a whole city was irradiated, he was completely immune to the radiation.
Or when Thanos used the Time Stone against the Avengers. He made them age until they died. Except Thor. He did age, but didn’t die. Instead, he became even more powerful as he got older.
My favourite line in the movie is from Warren, when he tells Will “you must’ve been a real jerk to your friends, cause no matter what I do I can’t get them to stop talking to me.”
This was one of my absolute favorite movies as a kid. It's kind of dated now, especially the cgi, but it's still very entertaining and holds a special place in my heart.
I don’t know. I think the cgi holds up pretty well. Even when they don’t, the movie doesn’t hold that long on them.
It didn't overdo it I find with the CGI and I think they used some pretty good practical effects in this film. E.g. the vines from Layla's powers entangling the Pennys.
The issue with Royal Pain is that when she was a student back in the 70's technology wasn't advanced nor available enough for technopathy to be considered a practical superpower, so she was always underappreciated and shunned as a sidekick. Despite her genius intellect, people only judged her by her apparently useless power.
I liked this movie as well, I've always thought it had potential to become a full Harry-Potter-like saga.
*80's.

Sky High, literally the most underrated superhero film I’ve seen. Wish this was a franchise
Same
Agreed
Warren is my favourite character in this. I want to see the spinoff where we find out how his hero and villain parents got together, his dad gets out of prison, and how his dad reacts to Warren being best friends with Will.
Fun Facts:
1. Mike Mitchell the director of _Sky High_ would later direct _Shrek Forever After_ and _Trolls_ for DreamWorks Animation
2. Principal Powers quote _"I'm not Wonder Woman, you know.”_ is a nod to Lynda Carter playing Wonder Woman in the 1970’s Wonder Wonan series
3. Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle who served as the co-writers for _Sky High_ served as the creators/show runners for _Kim Possible_ and _Big Hero 6: The Series_
4. The couple who almost got crushed by the Sky High school when they were about to buy the House are portrayed by Tom Kenny and Jill Talley who worked together in many voiceover projects such as SpongeBob and Camp Lazlo, the former where they were SpongeBob and Karen (Planktons Computer Wife). Jill was also on _The Loud House_ as Rita Loud (the kids mother).
There's a "Big Hero 6: The Series"? How do I not know this?
The fact that the _Kim Possible_ team wrote this really shows. They got their fingerprints all over this movie!!
Here's another fun fact, the actors playing Coach Boomer & Captain Stronghold both played Elvis Presley at one point.
@@BubblyRainbows It's a 2D-animated spinoff show from 2017.
Also Coach boomer played by Bruce Campbell played Autolycus in Xena:Warrior Princess and had his own lead in his own movie that later was turned into a series called Ash vs Evil dead(series) Evil Dead and sequals(movies)
Back when Disney wasn’t afraid to make up their own superheroes, instead of buying the rights to ones that were already made. Nowadays, they own Marvel and Star Wars.
Dude this movie is better than the current MCU in my opinion
@@maybetoby Agreed
I was 14 around when this came out and I watched it with my aunt. She remarked it was nice to see actors who looked like the correct age of the characters they're playing. I looked at her and said "I'm 14." And then she realized that while the actors aren't 30 playing 14 year olds, they are still clearly older than 14.
Sky High is actually so much fun. Way too underrated
Has anyone notice the characters are in a rainbow?
Warren is Red
Ethan is Orange
Zach is Yellow
Layla is Green
Will is Blue (Sometimes Red)
Magenta is Purple.
Yeah all of the characters were all wearing clothes with the same color even Gwen Grayson
The Queer Subtext is real. Love it!
@@PokhrajRoy. Or, you know, it could be following the comic book trope of characters wearing the same color scheme all the time whether in costume or in their civvies.
@@Falcun21 No, it’s Queer Subtext. Rainbows are never a coincidence.
@@PokhrajRoy. Sky High really said Pride 💅🏼🏳️🌈
It would be a legit shock if they reintroduced Sky High as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Palpatine @ that needing to happen immediately: Do it!
What they need to do is introduce Big Hero 6 into the MCU.
Because they actually are from Marvel comics. In fact, the first time I saw them was when Spider-Man needed help to save the world from Doc Ock.
Only one problem, since Kelly Preston is now gone, what would we do about Jetstream?
Still, I have been wanting Sky High to return in some way, either sequel movie or tv series. But given how Disney and Disney+ has been doing follow-ups, what with Marvel or Lucasfilms, maybe that may not be the best move.
6:15 Ron Wilson, Bus Driver Is The Real Hero. Heroes don't always mean capes, tights and collecting souvenirs that's arrogance. Ron proves you don't have to have powers to be a hero, it's more about helping people.
Easily without a doubt one of Disney’s most underrated films and superhero films from the early 2000’s. Just the chemistry of the cast and the action + comedy were worth watching and it’s unfortunate that Disney hardly acknowledges the film’s existence and seems more content with having the Marvel Cinematic Universe instead. I do hope we get a sequel or a Disney+ series based on Sky High someday.
It’s literally the _My Hero Academia_ before _My Hero Academia_
If you're a fan of Steven Strait (Warren Peace) I recommend watching The Expanse (2015 - 2021). It's an amazing science fiction show and book series.
I also love how Warren Peace is a clever pun for War and Peace. 😂
man he was a teenager and his voice was already what he has going on today
Yeah, ive known the movie for like 10 years and I never got the Warren Peace pun until i watched this reaction. The also mentioned that his mother was a hero and his father a villain so it could be about him having both sides in him amd having to decide which path he chooses? Hes peak emo/conflicted teenager so I wouldn't be surprised.
They actually had a rule that nobody was allowed to date the actor who played Warren Peace while they made the movie!
And who broke that rule?
@@robertolebron2296 Me.
Why did they have that rule?
I love the fact that we live in a world where Nicholas Braun was in ‘Sky High’ and ‘Succession’. I mean, the RANGE ---
Also, he’s so adorable in interviews.
This movie and Zoom with Tim Allen were some of my favorite super hero movies growing up. I still randomly rewatch them every now and again.
I love these movies
The principal in this movie is played by Lynda Carter, who actually played Diana Prince AKA Wonder Woman in the mid-to-late 1970s TV show. Also, I think Wonder Woman is the only pre-existing superhero who gets mentioned in this movie???
Sky high is an underrated gem. It really should have gotten a sequel.
The principal actually once played Wonder Woman in her own TV show.
I've watched this movie so many times, the og My Hero Academia, despite MHA's author confirming that he was surprised by how similar they are lol.
Sharkboy and Lavagirl is another TV classic if you haven't watched it yet.
When mha first came out it literally reminded me of this. Glad I wasn't the only one haha
My dreams are coming true, you guys watching sky high is literally the only thing I needed today
When he punched Gwen her hair was flowing like a hair shampoo or conditioner commercial ❤😂 I always thought that ❤
They wanted the movie to be colorful like a comic book. This is why almost everyone had 2 layers on. More clothing, more ability to add color.
Also, there extremely high up in the sky. It would be colder up there, even with heating systems.
Sky High to me is definitely the most underrated superhero movies ever. I remember my parents took me and brother to watch it in the cinemas and we end up loving it so much by a great plot, awesome characters and great redemption arcs and by being surprised finding out that Gwen was Royal Pain the whole time. Also I loved the extra detail that all the clothing that characters wore represented what there powers were. So I’m glad you guys enjoyed and appreciated it and hopefully you do more movies together 😊😁😉😉🦸♂️🦸♀️🦹♀️❤️❤️❤️
One of my favorite superhero movie at the 2000s. brings back memories.
Timothée: “This is violent!”
Me: “Ummm…Quidditch exists.”
Omg I remember watching this and finding it fun but I feel like it’s become more fun and campy with time. A very interesting concept.
Also, Lynda Carter (OG Wonder Woman) is in this.
This movie already has actors from other superhero material. Kurt Russell from Guardians Vol. 2, Lynda Carter was the OG Wonder Woman, and Danielle Panabaker from The Flash. It’s like this movie was intentional to make.
(Also, does anyone else make a Magic School Bus reference whenever the bus flies in this movie?)
There's also Mary Elizabeth Winstead who played the Huntress in Birds of Prey.
I loved this movie as a kid. My absolute favorite line now is the "I'm not wonder woman" line from Linda Carter. Bruce Campbell is also hilarious and awesome in anything I've seen him in, and I love the powers being so random, simple, weird, or all three.
Edit: and looking back, some of the cgi still holds up pretty well (it doesn't look real, but it looks fun). And Tom Kenny being in the movie for about a minute is just hilarious.
I so loved this movie and am glad you guys do too. Too many people try to take it seriously as a superhero film. It isn't, it's like you said, it's very comicky.
Fun note: The scene where Warren Peace gets knocked through the wall and crushes a pillar? That wasn't CG or green screen. That was ALL practical effects. He was pulled through on a harness. The wall and pillar were a very light and crumbly material that can look like concrete. (I still think Warren Peace is the best hero/villain name ever)
Warren Peace aka War & Peace.
This movie influenced me more than I like to admit 😂
12:20 this type of thing was taught in high school biology. Super powers are typically a recessive gene based on how the nurse is explaining it. Lucky for our boy Stronghold his parents, or one of them at least, had it as a dominant genotype. I think.
I met the actor who plays Warren Peace at a convention, and his face absolutely lit up when I asked him to sign my copy
Awww! 😄
42:21, It’s also even strengthened now that there are way more superhero movies now then there were back then which makes it as a superhero parody work even better
The lead, Michael Angarano also starred in The Forbidden Kingdom (2008), featuring Jackie Chan and Jet Li. A fantastic movie based on actual Chinese folk tales.
I feel like the awesomeness of the casting of Lynda Carter and Bruce Campbell might be lost on them
Great movie. Rest in peace Kelly Preston. I think you missed the joke that actress who plays the principal in the movie is Linda Carter who is known for playing Wonder Woman in the 80s classic Wonder Woman tv series. A great underrated superhero movie you should see is Darkman 1990 or Punisher 1989
18 years before the intense cafeteria between Will Stronghold and Warren Peace, their uncles Jerry Mitchell and Buddy Revell had a conventional fight at the car park in the 3 o’clock High (1987)
Please watch "The Rocketeer" (1991). I think You would love this film.
We are all waiting for a sequel for years!!! This song made me love Cheap trick's Everybody wants to rule the world!
There was a planned sequel called Save U (Save University) since 2016, but it was likely cancelled due to being in production hell for too long.
Bro no 😭
35:47 while the bullies are dealing with will's friends, royal pain (gwen) and stitches are busy putting babies in baby chairs with instructions.
Malbread lights up (like Zach) every time Warren's on-screen.
(& so do I)
I’ve never stopped loving this movie. It’s just as much to watch now as it was when I was a kid seeing it in theatres.
Man this brings back so many memories
Warren Peace is a play in the book “War and Peace”.
Sky High is one of the greatest underrated Super Hero movies ever. Sure some of the action is cheesy due to the graphics of the day, but the writing and foreshadows are epic.
I love that two members of the Kids in the Hall are in this. And they're both so much fun.
What powers would I like? Well, I've got really bad knees, so I'd want either shapeshifting so I could change them into good knees, or flight, so they wouldn't be an issue.
This was one of the live-action Disney movies that I enjoyed, growing up. I even own this movie on DVD in both Widescreen (2.39:1) and Full Screen (1.33:1) formats.
With the lamp post that's not flight just a strength enhanced jump as he later admits he's surprised he can fly
Edit: "did it before Hulk" Hulk has been in the comics for longer
This was our My Hero Academia growing up
So that must mean that the main character William is Izuku! But then which characters in Sky High would be the other characters in class 1-A?
@@noelleanglade1412 Layla is Ochaco and Warren is bakugou 😂
@@kodieliciousOooh good choices!
Warren Peace got the best upgrade in this whole movie ending up with the Freeze Girl.
It really dates the generations when seeing the reactions to this movie.. the Setup/Punch routine with Linda Carter goes by with blank expressions on all the younger people who did not have a clue who she was.. LMAO... makes me feel old.. lol .. ... but definitely NOT 1900s old.. :P ROFLMAO...
As someone moved to special education after being tested, this movie hit pretty hard for me...
I can't believe that the bus driver is from the movie super troopers. First, he doesn't movie for Disney and then he goes to broken lizard and does movies like super troopers the dukes of Hazzard beer wars films like that. I just can't believe that's him
The actress that plays Will's mother Kelly Preston died on July 12th 2020
I have a love hate relationship with Disney regarding this movie. When I was in high school, long before this movie was made, me and some friends of mine worked on a comic. This comic involved a normal teenaged kid with Superhero Parents being sent off to summer camp with other superhero children and shenanigans ensues. As a result, we got signed to Image Comics and my best friend later worked for Marvel. When we initially got signed, we were given an option to turn our independent book into an officially licensed and turned into an actual series. Then suddenly that option was smashed by Disney's cease & desist. Turns out a very similar (almost identical) story being pitched into a movie. A year or two later this film shows up at the cinemas and needless to say I was fairly upset at what I saw. Even though it feels great so many people really loved this movie, I never went back to comics.
I've seen people that love this movie wonder why this never became a franchise. Well, it's probably because it's not an original story.
"What powers would I want?" same answer to "what three wishes [from the Genie] I'd want": simply Omniscence, Omnipotence, and Omnisophence; But, the key is, they have to be acquired AT THE EXACT SAME TIME. So often people wish for those three [or similar] but ask for it piecemeal, and thusly overbalance and fail. Too much power or too much knowledge (ok, I honestly can't think of someone "Too Wise"...)
39:16 OMG I just realized it's Kenny! How did I not realize this in my nostalgia?! xD
my favorite super hero movie ever ❤ iconic
Sky high is so underrated love this movie is one of my childhood classic
When the character is a cheerleader cartwheels are absolutely necessary
My Dad, brother, and I saw this in theaters in Jerusalem, Israel when it came out. We laughed so hard with the Xbox scene!
I love all the characters in this movie. But my personal favourite has to be the coach. Bruce Campbell is brilliant as usual
This was written by the co-creators of Kim Possible, and it really shows in the dialogue and self-awareness
I just realized the guy who plays Zach in Sky High plays Greg in Succession.
Words can't described how much I loved this film as a kid. It was so awesome.
this movie is like Disney's version of My Hero Academia but the super powers are not called "Quirks"
You know those two bullies have always reminded me of bulk and skull from Power Rangers
36:52 - 36:57 I love this reaction in this scene of movie 😂😂😂😂😂
This movie holds a beautiful place in my childhood years, RIP Kelly Preston. By the way, Zach's actor is Greg from Succession, his name is Nick Brown and he is indeed really tall, he is 6'7"...great reaction! Best Regards!
Warren Peace=War and Peace. Get it? Because he has a hero mom and a villain dad.
It’s kind of like “Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters” from X-Men movies
"I'm not Wonder Woman..."
YES, YOU ARE, LYNDA CARTER!
The principal actually did play wonder woman, so when she says I'm not wonder woman at the end😂
Yes let’s go! 👍 This movie is a classic bro 😎
40:53 When Lynda Carter (Principal Powers) says " Im not wonder woman, you know" ...mean while shes actual plays Wonder woman in the 1975 TV series :)
I love this movie. I really wish this had a sequel.
Such a fun, underrated superhero movie, wish it became a franchise. If i could have a superpower, it would have to turning into animals, because I love animals, and it gives so many opportunities for different skills.
And no one talks about how she literally remembers everything from before she returned to a child, and somehow expected that she could turn everyone else into kids and they would remember nothing.....
I remember this film with nostalgia The kind that made me interested in superheroes 41:49 I wish they continued the franchise in the form of an animated series with these designs
My superpower I'd want is Technopathy. I could build devices with my mind, control them, get free Internet access and the ability to prevent technology from tracking me unless I want it to, all that.
Flash & Speed are like Bulk & Skull of this movie
There’s a Japanese anime series called My Hero Academia which also uses the hero school concept, likely inspired from Marvel’s X-Men series.
Lmao Timothée and I have wanting to manipulate time in common. Although time is a social construct.
I loved this movie when I was younger! A pleasant surprise to see a reaction to it
Bien fait Tim!
Best power Molecular Manipulation if you had full control of it as everything is made of molecules:
Could do simple such as telekinesis, teleportation
Piper Halliwells Charmed powers (freezing, exploding, melting)
The elements etc
You could shapeshift and like mystique could become almost invincible by constantly rejuvenating all you molecules etc
Girl same I liked will doing the narration at the beginning and the end and same I watched this All the time nostalgia❤❤❤❤
This movie is the reason that started my crush on Mary Elizabeth winstead
Bruce Campbell as Coach Boomber! The actor of the Evil Dead movies. Do you see or react to those movies yet?
This movie deserves more attention. I saw it when it came out and it was awesome in the theater!
Why are Mal and Magenta low-key twinning
Also for people who didn't know the couple screaming at the end when the school was falling was the guy who does the voice of SpongeBob and his real wife who does the voice of Karen ( Plankton's computer wife )
The principal saying she's not wonder woman at the end. Was Linda Carter who played the 1st live action Wonder Woman in the 70s TV show. Love that line at end, even though I disagree. She will always be Wonder Woman to me.
There was a strict no dating rule on set because everyone had a crush on Warren Peace.
