    Great tips man! Another amazing way to condition yourself is an alpine/ high incline treadmill. Even a short workout (10 minutes) at a 30° incline will murder your lungs at first, but if you keep at it for a bit, you become absolutely indestructible

    HIIT is the only way to train for combat sports. Well demonstrated and explained

      @coachpillowfists  Місяць тому

      Thank you! HIIT is definitely important, especially for those heavy exchanges, but long distance cardio is also vital for the gas tank.

      @@coachpillowfists Absolutely Coach, like you, I tend to avoid it as it's not as fun, but will definitely be putting in the effort now. To be fair every time I have had a fight scheduled the boxers at my gym (I'm MMA) all say the same thing "Are you putting your miles in?"

      @@sadakatsyed1225 💯%! If anyone ever had a bad sparring day, the coach would be like, "You didn't run this weekend, did you?" 😂

    Great tips coach. Nasal breathing has TONS of benefits mental and physical! And there is DEFINITELY something to having exhilarating action on the TV. "Just don't put on Devin Haney fights" LOL. I know you were kidding but that was funny as hell!

    Hey coach Chris
    Excellent tutorial
    I found out everything you say is so important and correct
    Wind is possibly the most important thing the old time bare Knuckle boxers of the 1700s and 1800s used to call it bottom ! And if our opponents have got more bottom than us they will win and we will loose
    Cheers coach Chris keep up the excellent work 💪🥊

    I, when training from A to Z, always have my mouthpiece in place. That way you naturally breathe through your nose and become accustomed to it. I also run 5 miles normally with my mouth guard, and then jog backwards on the way home, slowing the pace down a little bit because I shadowbox. This uses muscles in your legs and feet that normally are not active, making you a fitter and more complete fighter.✌️🔥 🥊

      @@coachpillowfists Too true lol. How long do you usually run for when training for amateur matches?

    • @coachpillowfists
      @coachpillowfists  7 місяців тому +1

      @@andyjiang744 I did 3 miles on the treadmill, 3-4 days per week, in the format of how I explained in the video about jogging the first quarter mile, increasing the speed on the next quarter mile, increasing the next again, then sprinting the last quarter mile. People say the treadmill is not as good as running on the ground, but I like the treadmill because (1) it's easier on my joints and (2) it forces me to run at increased paces versus running on the ground, it's very easy to just slow down and not push yourself as much.

    Do you think the stair master machine is a good substitute for running?

    • @coachpillowfists
      @coachpillowfists  7 місяців тому +3

      I wouldn’t say so. Stair master is good for building muscle and endurance in your legs/glutes, but you need running to get that pure cardio training to its fullest capacity.

  • @element-wm5hb

    So should I do jog for 5 minutes and then sprint as fast as possible 30 seconds and repeat? I can only run outside because I don't have a treadmill

    • @coachpillowfists
      @coachpillowfists  7 місяців тому

      That works. I recommend jogging then increasing your speed every few minutes then sprinting.
