John Dwyer is special... there are many guitar players who can practice long enough to unlock standard showmanship ability; technical prowess, speed-running through scales. it's fine. it'll get you a job in a band. but very few guitar players actually comprehend how to control and employ the full soundscape of their instrument at any given moment. he's in total musical control. carrying the entire melody, every lick, and every breakdown and solo. in every song. John's constant and incessant use of filters, effects, layering, and varying of picking style is virtuoso. he knows where every sound and note exists at all times. he knows the rules so well that he knows exactly how to break them whenever he wants to achieve that perfect howl or scream out of the strings. he understands and speaks in TONE better than he does in English; the guitar his vocal cords attached directly to his soul. prolific songwriting force of nature and energy... John fucking Dwyer
truely one of the greatest guitar players of our time. I saw them in Liverpool on this tour and it's like, incredible how he's able to replicate every little flourish and tone from the studio versions
He does more with the basics than anyone else I know of. He's a master of melodies as well. He completely changed how I look at music when I discovered them, just wish I had been turned on to them sooner!
Saw them in Cambridge Mass a couple months ago. Ran into John on the street before the show and bs'd with him for a few minutes. He's a totally down to earth dude, was an absolute pleasure. Spent the whole show in the pit, left sweaty and stoked!
audio quality is incredible ! seen them live maybe 6 years ago, JD tuning his guitar 10 minutes before the show , so freakin cool. easy one of the best live acts i've seen
I'm very pleased that this band keeps pushing forward in some fashion.... but for some reason I do not find most of their music for the last 10 years that interesting. Just keep hearing lifted 70's rock riffs. The dual drummer thing serves no purpose other than when one of them slips off time it gets a bit f'ked up sounding.
@@kmac1130 nor could I. That's why it was so disappointing. Don't know if they don't interact with the crowd or if they were just knackered from touring. Saw Ty Segall in London a few years back - great atmosphere and banter going back and forth with the fans.
@@mwsaab9 I’ve seen the oh sees three times and each time Dwyer interacted with the crowd a fair amount. Besides that, who gives a shit about crowd interaction? I’d rather them shut up and play. You know, the reason why you go to a concert..

There is nothing better than the pit at an Oh Sees show, the fans, beer raining down, bodies flying. JD is completely mesmerising

I had the same experience with him. Super cool dude. Angus Young level of accuracy whilst freaking out on his guitar. Also super tall.
I love famous or amazing bands that wear normal clothes. Thee Oh Sees have such an amazing sound! Would love to see them live sometime!
Fuckin massive thanks to to the person who recorded this. You are just ace.

Always love seeing drummers on stage. Thanks for posting

Is Sticky Hulks anyone else's favorite song or is it just me?
yep, my favorite song as well
It's either Sticky Hulk's or Withered Hand, either way Mutilator is the greatest album ever
@@christopherwhite8537 mutilator is my fav as well
Hard to pick honesty. It’s definitely up there for me
Favourite since I saw the Volcom surf film Psychic Mutations. Amazing surfing and music combination.

For me it was the often talked about sonic epiphany. Get the fuck in.
Looks like The Stranglers have grown up…
why 2 drummers ?
Not one cellphone in sight. Fucking awesome.
Except the one filming this.
I was there and honestly the crowd was mainly just one huge pit lmfaooo

As a drummer i know what pain it is to tune a drumset. And now those two have to tune them together. Ouchie...
Fuuuuuuuuck wow
tks, but why cutting Sticky Hulks??
Realised I had the camera on the wrong setting - kept going out of focus so stopped, changed setting & started again - only missed a second or two.
@@Maltkiln I totally understand! Good job It was an awesome set!!

Is very odd that old dudes are amping up younger dudes.... just saying xD (loving it thouuuuhg)
Awesome band, and you can dance to 'em, but that's a sausage fest.
Bro, your guitar is way too high. And you only need one drummer.
Mediocre music
Am I supposed to like this? Because I don’t.
Lol okay? Then why comment?
@@kmac1130 boredom mostly.
@@taurus4205 well your music taste sucks
reality is a bummer
Saw them a few years back in Frankfurt - played an hour, zero interaction with the crowd. Boring as f**k.
I can’t even fathom being bored at an Oh Sees show

No it’s not
You've obviously never seen them live
looks amazing. total sausage fest though! hahaha. thanks for sharing
