@@averageslacker6054 They are important to me and people dont listen to this kind of music where i live so i gotta share my opinions on it with yall. That being said yeah i got pretty obsessed with them.
They may not have achieved mainstream commercial appeal in the US, but they've been a household name in actual music scenes around the world for well over a decade. These new audiences are just catching up.
I see so much hate for that era drummer, but fuck me... Its like he's forcing himself to play the opposite side hand and foot he's comfortable with. Really accentuates how fucking great Dan and Paul are.
Anyone hating on Mike Shoun, or really anything about this era of the band either just have different tastes, or just flat out don't know what they're talking about. This era of the band was pure, raw Rock and Roll in its essence, from every member. It's shambolic, but there's a cohesion to the music, yet it always feels like it's teetering on the verge of collapsing. It's a deceptively nuanced thing that doesn't come naturally to a lot of bands, but this lineup certainly captured lightning in a bottle. The new music and line-up with Dan and Paul is a little bit more reeled-in, in terms of that. Part of that is likely just due to the music John's writing, but Dan and Paul are also killer drummers too, obviously.
@@dpclerks09 yeah, I certainly didn't hate on him, I was just sort of thinking I'd see the furious style I saw on the Live in LA(?) album, like the older version of The Dream, doesn't quite hit for me, I still like it. But yeah, definitely a good time with Shoun.
@@dpclerks09 just made a quick research, the name can't be found, but it's either an Octaver, or an EQ cutting the high and boosting the low frequencies
@@G60syncro why was he doing that? I can totally tell he's fighting his brain, I always thought there was something off with this guy, but turns out he was training his body to become stronger than me (ambidextrous) can't say I prefer him to Dan and Paul though. I also discovered them when Mutilator came out so that's like my.
@@heyalright_ lol, this "guy" Mike Shoun absolutely rips, and deserves way more credit and respect than that. Dwyer is a self-admitted drummer at heart, so he only plays with exceptional drummers. He's definitely not fighting his brain. On a few occasions I think he's admitted to being on acid while they were playing, but also sometimes musicians just make subconscious faces while playing/trying to focus, like guitar players have "guitar face" etc. The endurance required to pull off the type of drumming this band demands is like running a marathon. Notice how the drummers are always sweating buckets compared to the rest of the band. Mike's style is more raw like Keith Moon almost, which I always appreciated. It was an integral part to this sound during this era of the band, which is admittedly my favorite era.
@@dpclerks09 yeah, I spoke to him directly on twitter and he was like 'nah man, it's just my style'. No, I have huge respect for Mike and that era and albums he was on. I came in with the two drummer set up and was used to the onslaught of that, compared to Mike's slightly more tasteful style.
Lets count ! In this video it's the original drummer Mike Shoun. They did some shows before 2015 where they used 2 drums, with Mike Shoun and Lars Finberg. After the 2015 break they came back with two new drummers, Ryan Moutinho and Dan Rincon. And then in 2017 Ryan Moutinho was replaced by Paul Quattrone.

The mix on the bass (is that really a bass tho') is superb.
It's actually a Jaguar guitar, my dude Pete used a pedal to make it sound like a bass !
