- NBA Legends Explain Why It’s So Hard To Guard Steph Curry At 36
When NBA greats see Stephen Curry and say he’s different, it’s not just about draining threes from another zip code or dribbling defenders out of their shoes.
There’s something else, something almost supernatural about it.
While most guys his age are slowing down, Steph is speeding up, flipping the script on Father Time. So what’s his secret?
Let’s hear it straight from the legends themselves. And who better to kick off our list at number 15 than someone who’s been toe-to-toe with Steph in the biggest moments - LeBron James.
When you think about intense NBA rivalries, LeBron and Steph are right up there. So when LeBron was asked on HBO’s The Shop who he’d want to team up with, he didn’t hesitate.
His top picks? His son, Bronny, and the man who makes defenders lose sleep, Steph Curry.
And he didn’t just casually mention Curry, he practically spotlighted him.

😂😂😂
imagine hating on curry when your favorite player highly praise and respect curry.
It’s mind boggling that fans like to doubt and hate on Steph when there are legitimate NBA players who struggle and praise him.
hate is normal
He came up watching all day MJ and his father back in the 80s and 90s that's were he gets his heart from.
We are all fortunate to watch and enjoy the amazing longevity of durant, LeBron, & curry's playing years.
What he did in the semi and gold medal game this summer , unreal.
Stephen is a wonderful human being, one of the great player of all time and real goat. Always love to watch him play. God bless him.
😅 i like how every player agreed how Curry is more deadly when he doesnt have the ball. Means my guy is legit. How dangerous a mf has to be to make his opponents get all scared when you dont even have the ball in your hand? Curry is just phenomenal 🔥🔥
Been watching the NBA since 1991 and I've seen a lot . Stephen curry its in my top 5 ever
When guys like Kev, Dwayne, LeBron, and Kobe are giving him praise, you have a bad mf on yo hands.
Steph Curry is the MJ of today, nobody ever feared LeBron like this.💯 #Facts
Tbh Steph is always said to be overrated but then when you ask them about Lebron they will always say that even when he’s 40 that he’s should be in top tten players in the league.even when the lakers are play in team
%100 agree
You’re bugging 😂😭
You needa go talk to them niggaz in the east back in the day, Toronto and the Pacers, like you really bugging
@@sb-rn5ez100% cap… everyone fears lebron… why do you think they team up to beat him 😂
@@christophermclin1509aint seen people double team lebron like they double team curry
Man, I hope I retain as much faculty as Elgin Baylor when I'm older. That man is super sharp even now.
Pat Bev comments on Curry should be added as well.
When you're the innovator of the modern game, you're usually going to be a step ahead. He may not be the GOAT, but the entire game changed due to him.
The thing about Steph is that he's a killer even without his shooting
The best shooter, in a game where most of the points are scored on jump shots
And with a skill that proves to translate in other ways. His touch and ability around the rim is elevated by his shooting. His shooting makes his off ball movement the deadliest ever. His gravity opens up scorers unlike anyone ever. It all trickles down into an unstoppable flood.
Yep. If there are two fundamental skills in basketball, they have to be shooting and dribbling. He’s clearly the best ever at the 1st (by a mile) and I’d argue is at worst top 10 all time at the 2nd.
60 years ago in ninth grade gym class, I had a game like Steph.
This truly sounds like the same interviews that I've heard of Larry Bird back in the day.. couldn't guard him, great shooter, flicking the ball, passing. Everything.
I've been watching a lot of Larry Bird videos.. the man was an amazing shooter.. Now it's time to watch some Steph Curry. Never been a big Basketball fan.. but I watched this past Olympics and Steph pulled it out.. And like Larry. I've never heard one thing in the tabloids bad about this man. I know it's like 40 yrs apart but legends are legends no matter the era.
The chef curry glaze is crazy... And I'm all here for it
curry is just special and he's one off the best team player ever mist good players play for themselves not stef
People think Curry is just a shooter, but the guys langs and rotation around court is so sickening. Thats the hardest part to guard
I grew up watching Larry, magic, Kareem, and then Jordan and Kobe. As fun as it was to watch them play, Steph is just different and probably the most exciting player to watch. 16 years in the league now and he’s just not slowing down at all!
WHAT??? GET out of here, when he's not making shots he disappears MJ and kobe never ever disappear.
@@joeemanuel5049 “when he’s not making shots”
Rarely happens, brother
He is one of the best players if not the best moving without the ball. How long has it been since you’ve watched a game?
He's definitely great, Curry. But the most exciting? Please..... His Airness by far was must watch...
Reggie Miller Ray Allen comes to mind when talking about screening and cutting . Curry is a student of the game. He patterned his game after 2 of the best that has ever done it.
Buena compilación. Saludos desde Colombia.
Disappointed for not seeing MJ's comment but learned a lot about Steph Curry. Thanks.
Great video but please do not lie with thumbnail next time to get views.
Be honest brother. Steph Curry can do all these cos of Christ Jesus.
Jesus loves you. Call Him and listen to His answer.
Steph is a RUNNING nightmare.

This was an awesome video. New subscribers here
LeBron thinking about that RDCWorld skit whenever someone ask about guarding Curry
Putting someone in the hospital was crazy though.
It’s also mind blowing that this dude needs 3 different channel to have the chef curry”s cream ☺️☺️☺️☺️
General NBA players guarding Steph are like humans trying to kill a genetically modified mosquito. It's a whole different game.
curry the video game version plays more humanly than the real curry.
Gotta start guarding him from the parking lot 😂😂
Did y'all see that? They said Jordan was fast, he was so fast that you didn't even see him comment 😂😂
Curry is the best
MJ COULD BE A BETTER SUPPORTER OF THE YOUNGER PLAYERS. HE WAS AWESOME IN HIS TIME. NOT MJ TIME ANYMORE
I'm 62 and I'm with LB about respecting the stars of today's NBA. MJ will be forced to recognize Steph at some point. I hope.
90% of Steph Curry haters are LeBron fans
I’d take Steph over him 9 times out of 10
Every superstar player is hard to guard, it always require team defense to stop him
Clickbait, no MJ comment… but Steph is good no doubt
You don’t matter what everybody’s saying about Stephen Curry it’s pretty much either you have it in you don’t and Stephen Curry has it and he got naturally .. it’s like saying you’re a good baker you didn’t go to school. You have it in you so it’s pretty much Stephen Curry. He has it in him.. man stop hating on the man just enjoy it again. You will never see this type of player ever again.
Seems as if lebron was talking about himself. " Guys in the league are uncomfortable being uncomfortable!" Lol...
Didn't even see MJ COMMENTS?
He is a machine.That's all I can't
He's getting into his grown man strength phase, he's slowly getting the green light to be more aggressive at the basket. He had a lot of moments last season where he reminded me of Baron Davis goin to the basket!!!
He actually helped USA to win Paris 2024 Olympics, without him USA is gone
I'm an old head and will readily admit that Steph Curry may be the best player we've ever seen; not, the greatest, the best. If you have to choose a 5, Steph would have to be your first pick because if the other team gets him, your chances of losing go up expediently.
These guys saying hes the best rn without actually saying it
goat shooter
The best ❤❤❤❤😂
This video perfectly shows why Curry is a nightmare for defenders, but do you think his off-ball movement is what really sets him apart from other all-time greats?
ya'll here this....???
the movement of the offense, especially Curry, is what everyone on this list is talking about....how it wears the opposing team down...
Therefore, logically speaking, "IF" you were to take the Warriors from any of their championship years and put them up against any of Bull's winning years, do you really think Bulls clearly win?
I watched MJ and his Bulls win those 6 rings....there wasn't even nearly the 'ball movement' back in those days as there is now! And there was NO ONE like Curry, who would jus 'run, run, run', damn near all game!
He would have a lot more points if NBA referees give him all the faults he always gets. They have been trying to limit him for his entire career.
Hoop report😂
Bro I swear he has like 5 different channels
The content is all quality though even if he's clearly a curry/gsw fan. Too many wannabe trash bball channels out there
If not for Steph Curry we might lose to Serbia n Germany too!
Nobody looked at Bridges in his interview footage.
Modern day MJ.
Klay would soon taste curry’s toughness by the time have to guard steph😅
This type of videos always have like 100k views and under 1k likes

When he mentioned slowing down why did he show Klay at 00:41
I would say David was the best shooter GOD ever created. But, the Chef is absolutely second!

Click bait!!! MJ didn’t even make an appearance 🤣
Say what you want Klay needs to come back home to the Warriors team that is where he belongs
Steph and lebrom team up will sold oit arena everyday
What about Shaq
Tbh people overrate steph off ball. I feel like its actually its a huge deficiency in basketball players ability as a whole to understand off ball movement. I say that because coming from soccer you recognize being able to see empty space and predict possible ball movement with triangle passing. I recommend you younging if you play basketball, play soccer on the side instead of football or something. Passing is the absolute minimum in soccer and being a jokic type passer transitioning to basketball is natural and easy. Just look up barcelona passing highlights and the way they see and fill empty space.
I can see where you're coming from, and yes, a lot of players today don't really understand the intricacies of off ball play. But to call Steph's off ball movement "overrated" is cynical and disingenuous. It's not just about filling in space, but adjusting to the biggest variable in the game. Steph moves more than any superstar throughout history. He is a constant threat inside and out. He gets a shot off in .4 seconds at all time great accuracy. He's literally the only guard top 10 all time in EFG% and the only one who's average range of efficiency is over 20ft from the basket.
When he is on the court, you HAVE to crowd him regardless of your assignment. That leads to defensive breakdowns when a lack of communication moves an extra defender away from their man. That's why he's had many different players thrive in his system.
Combine that with the fact that he doesn't only move to get jumpshots, but to also get backdoor cuts to the rim, collapse defenses for others to score, even just to get people to LOOK at him, and that all plays into why he's an anomaly.
If you gave Jokic a player like Curry, he'd be unstoppable. Because Steph's effective range of danger expands to literally half court. And no one runs like he does EVERY GAME. He'd make MPJ take good shots. That's how much attention he draws.
Absolutely not.
@@KxngKUDA nah basketball players are just behind so you think that. If off ball movement made you amazing, then all my 11 year old soccer buddies as kids would have been impressive as fuck to you. Curry has every other skill to make that makes him amazing. Dont get me wrong its a skill but basketball players just dont recognize how reproducible his off ball movement is. And i mean pro nba players do not realize that. It is such an easy thing to do, you make it sound generationally rare when that is paradoxical to the very reason i made the point. Baskbetball players have a BLATANT off ball deficiency in general. It was actually surprising just how bad everyone was at my local park when i first started playing a couple months ago. Literally no one understands how to move off ball. Not trying to belittle nba intellect because these players are intelligent, but seriously elementary school soccer kids are better than some nba players. Russ for example does not have the faintest idea of seeing and filling empty space. And i know russ is a smart individual so the contrast between being so smart and not knowing such basic elementary concepts that soccer kids learn young was soooooo surprising when i watch nba as adult. Thats why im recommending soccer over football, which is a dangerous sport most will never go nfl and even myself got injured playing, and many youngings always play bball and football when they should drop that garbage rough sport and play soccer and bball as well. This will give them the best set of skills.
@@KxngKUDA like bro im really not tryna diss. I really cannot express how absurd the contrast between this billion dollar league paying players millions of dollars and them struggling with things that kids in soccer have to know. Passing is just under prioritized which is fine, bball plays a lot different. Which is why a lot of players arent aware of the disparity. They just dont know because they arent aware of the perspectives like mine which if taken into account, would improve every players skills tenfold.
overated.
Who are you again?
