The makers of all the planes whether they be commercial, cargo, or even passenger.. they all are good.. *BUT* It's the pilot who sits behind the controls and has the knowledge of the plane, safety checklist and so on!! Salute to this pilot and a high five!
Remarkable - he made it seem so 'easy' it looked like he's just riding the john deere lawn mower some sunday afternoon. Great video and thanks for letting us regular folks see what its like for the pilots.
It's a tough skill and a grueling schedule but I bet these pros get a great satisfaction. The flying passengers appreciate all the care and seriousness these good people exhibit. Envious!!!
Here is an experienced professional Captain who has confidence in his crew and the control tower. All working together like the movement of a fine swiss watch!!
Like astronauts ... the right stuff ... such a Pro! It is so satisfying to watch someone like this guy do his job. He's taking in EVERYTHING, glancing back and forth, watching, listening, etc. It's just cool to watch. I have my private pilot's license, but just single engine land and rotor craft add-on, but still ... 750,000lb + (depending on variation -100 to -800), it's incredible!
We had landing L-1011's routinely make the 3000 foot turn onto the taxiway at bangor Maine when I worked in the Tower. That (L1011)was a great engineering design and is completely unrecognized as such.
I got to fly a 747 simulator at the Pam Am school in the early 90's at MIA It was one of the most exciting things I ever got to do. I flew with a 747 pilot who let me sit in the captain's chair and we did takeoffs and landings on runway #9 at Miami Intl until I was exhausted, you really think you're flying the plane. what a rush.
I had the great fortune when I was 16 to be on a 747 within a few months of it's being put into service. I was flying Lufthansa from Boston to Frankfurt Au Main. This, of course, was back in the day when flying was fun, and something special.I asked the flight attendant if it might be possible to visit the flight deck at some point. "I don't think that should a problem. I'll talk to the Captain and when he's ready I'll come and get you. In the meantime why don't I take you to the front of the plane so you can ride in style."Not only did I get to sample 'the good life' free for the rest of the flight; I guess the drinking age disappears above 25,000 feet. She came back and escorted me to the flight deck. I got to see the sunrise from the cockpit of the biggest airplane ever. It was, and still is one of the high points of my life. After I left the flight deck, the flight attendant showed me back and put me in a first class seat. She offered me some champagne but told her I was only 16. "We're at 35,000 feet. I think it's safe." Ahh! By the way my top 4 favorite planes are the 747, the CV Coronado 990, the Constellation, and the Lear jet 24. I was treated like a king. I remember it as if it were yesterday! Thank you Lufthansa so much for making a treasured memory!
Back in the 70s in the Navy I got a ride in a 47 along with food and drinks galore. The Captain allowed me to check out the cockpit once we got up to cruise. Man those were the days. That flight just didn't last long enough.
I have only flown 747 in simulators but, strangely enough, have found them easier to fly than the smaller lighter birds. It seems to be all about preparation and even a short final is possible if well planned - just take the old Kai Tak runway for example with a hard right bank on final.
Planespotting HAJ. Easy to fly, skilled to Manage. Please don't undermine the aircraft or profession. How about I put you into JFK with a 15 gusting 25 crosswind on a Carnarsie 13L with 8 tons of fuel after a NAT crossing (I'll be in the tower watching you) then you tell me it was EASY !!
Man that pilot is such a cool cat. He makes me feel like I could fly the damn plane! I couldn't but he's so relaxed he makes it look like he's pulling his car in the driveway.
I realize this will need insider knowledge. To me as a layman it looked very normal. Also wondering how a short landing requires any more skill considering the abilities of the plane will be known very accurately and I'd assume be used to their best anyway. - Hit the runway early enough at the ideal speed to get nose down soon, then brakes and reverse thrust. - And it looked like there was still plenty of runway left for relaxed taxi.
The Captain's performance is precisely why "Jumbo" and "Super" captains are paid the way they are. When there are 500+ people on board, everyone wants the most experienced hands on the controls.
They are only doing their job, nothing unusual here. And 2500 meter runway is not very short for a 747 with little fuel. 747s landed daily at Oslo, Fornebu in the eighties on its 2200meter runway. Weather perfect here, no sweat. And of course they are calm, if they weren't they should find another job. I admire them taking the responsibility flying all those passengers though.
.......as a side note, the -400 is a joke next to the -800.....even though we are winding down due to production demands the 747 is not dead by a longshot....what Boeing plans are i do not know, but clutch turbines and other 'goodies" to decrease fuel consumption are in the works.......96 work days until retirement.......outside of the Marine Corps I have never had any other job.....the highlight of my "career" was to shake the hand of Joe Sutter at the Everett facility in Washington....he was my hero ......First Chief Engineer for the "Queen of the Skies"....
What did the lever do, the one that he pushed forward at 2.08secs? I thought I saw it move backwards when he touched down but he definitely moved it forward by hand afterwards.
Boeing 747, still the prettiest bird in the air today. When I get on an aircraft, if I see gray hair on a pilot, I know I'm in good shape! Tons of experience!
Because of the tilted landing gear a 747 makes a very soft landing when done right. In my career I had several in which the flight engineer (-100 and -200 models) thought that I had reversed the engines before we touched down. Of course, despite the soft landing gear, it was still possible to crunch one in. :(
I love this pilot. He is so calm, attentive, and made a great smooth landing. A true master of this airplane. He makes it look so easy.
Captain Victoriano and First Officer Barbara display excellent, professional Crew Coordination and call outs. It would be a pleasure to fly with them.
Wow! Both pilots are as calm as can be. A joy to watch. Congratulations from the States!
thank you to all the pilots who hold the lives of all the passengers in their hands and keep us all safe. true heroes, every day.
cross-scanning like a boss. no screens...just visual. master pilot. well done.
Great video. Obviously a very experienced pilot. Fantastically executed. Salut.
Loved the applause, well deserved from wonderful passengers to an excellent crew! Very heartwarming.
Captain Victoriano, is what is normally called a true professional
Just another day at the office for this guy. A true master.
The makers of all the planes whether they be commercial, cargo, or even passenger.. they all are good.. *BUT* It's the pilot who sits behind the controls and has the knowledge of the plane, safety checklist and so on!!
Salute to this pilot and a high five!
such a smooth and relaxed landing...all landings are not equal. this was about as good as it gets.
Sweet! The pilots working in perfect harmony and the captain as cool as the proverbial cucumber. Great video.
This how it's done. Captain Victoriano has "the right stuff" he not only makes a difficult landing, he makes it look easy.
First-class pilot with a very calm and collective attitude. Well done, Captain!!
Envious!!!
I'd love to fly with this cockpit crew, very solid, and the 747 always the star of the show
The 747 is the star of the Boeing lineup as far as I'm concerned.
Here is an experienced professional Captain who has confidence in his crew and the control tower. All working together like the movement of a fine swiss watch!!
It's actually very amazing that a person can this so very well. Pilots are an amazing proof of human ability.
Always good to know there's a calm pilot at the controls
Like astronauts ... the right stuff ... such a Pro! It is so satisfying to watch someone like this guy do his job. He's taking in EVERYTHING, glancing back and forth, watching, listening, etc. It's just cool to watch. a experienced razorsharp but fully relaxed and confident pilot he is
what a job
Retired from flying 747's in 2013. I miss the flying but I don't miss airline life.
Still, the most handsome aircraft in the sky, even though they are used mostly for freight now. I never got a chance to fly on one. Sad.
As a young guy who's thinking to become a pilot seriously; i'm wondering: would you do it all over again ?
We had landing L-1011's routinely make the 3000 foot turn onto the taxiway at bangor Maine when I worked in the Tower. That (L1011)was a great engineering design and is completely unrecognized as such.
Great video showing a very professional and sterile cockpit with excellent crew coordination. Not to mention a very experienced captain.
he made it look so easy, like driving a car! amazing.
The captain is so calm and composed while landing....
This pilot made it look easy what a pro !!

One heck of a smooth landing... well done!
This guy is a cross scanning master.
Because that's how he was taught. Pre-video game instrument panel.
Wow dont you say??
He’s acting as though he’s driving home from Sunday Church!! Amazing skills....

I was treated like a king. I remember it as if it were yesterday! Thank you Lufthansa so much for making a treasured memory!
hey john, was it your first beer, or your first meeting with a charming flight attendant, or both?
hurius
What does your answer mean relative to my post? What am I missing?
Back in the 70s in the Navy I got a ride in a 47 along with food and drinks galore. The Captain allowed me to check out the cockpit once we got up to cruise. Man those were the days. That flight just didn't last long enough.
David Smith I hear you. That's one experience I don't need to put on my bucket list. It really was a truly "back in the day moment!
Thanks for the response happy flying
and most of all safe flights to come.
Excellent production, and an amazing touchdown and land on such a short r/w. Thank you, also NO ridiculous music to spoil the show.
Probably the most professional, professional in the history of professionals.
I have only flown 747 in simulators but, strangely enough, have found them easier to fly than the smaller lighter birds. It seems to be all about preparation and even a short final is possible if well planned - just take the old Kai Tak runway for example with a hard right bank on final.
jagara1 talked to 747 Captain and he told me it fly like a big teddy bear.
jagara1 Fly an A380, then you know what is an aircraft that is easy to fly
Planespotting HAJ But the a 380 is a flying computer
Planespotting HAJ.
Easy to fly, skilled to Manage. Please don't undermine the aircraft or profession. How about I put you into JFK with a 15 gusting 25 crosswind on a Carnarsie 13L with 8 tons of fuel after a NAT crossing (I'll be in the tower watching you) then you tell me it was EASY !!

Bravo Capt and first officer. Smooth as silk landing.
THIs CAPTIAN IS SO CALM and in control - so confident - super amazing to see his body language - master of the aircraft
Great crew coordination, good team.
Man that pilot is such a cool cat. He makes me feel like I could fly the damn plane! I couldn't but he's so relaxed he makes it look like he's pulling his car in the driveway.
That landing deserved all that cheering. Great piloting.
Amazing makes something so complex look like a walk in the park
What a brave pilot!!!
Great video and the info in the description is very much appreciated.
Much respect, pure skill.
Love flying, love these cockpit vids
I was only on a few flight on B747, 1st was in '72 from Hawaii- LAX, then QANTAS LAX - HAWaii- Nandi FIJI, & back in 1990 scuba trip.
Very nice video, I really enjoyed it. Great respect for these folks, they have huge responsability. Thanks for sharing.
Loving this channel - it's like being there with the crew(s) ✈️
Buena coordinación de tripulación, aplicación de reversas y buen aterrizaje en pista corta, la experiencia se demuestra con estos aterrizajes
Too smooth, too calm.. great pilot!
They make it look so easy. Good job.
These videos are really cool. Thanks for posting.
I miss those days when you could tour the flight deck while en route.
Same here I did so on a Pan Am 747 back in 1974 when I was 5 n remember it clearly.
You can thank our islamic friends for that !
a well seasoned veteran of the flying community, nice touch down
Amazing landing this guy is my idol
Skill, simply amazing.
Doing his job
Meraviglioso! Vorrei avere solo l'occasione di pilotare insieme a questo comandante.👏
The Captain's performance is precisely why "Jumbo" and "Super" captains are paid the way they are. When there are 500+ people on board, everyone wants the most experienced hands on the controls.
Thank you
Pilot's have the BEST job in the universe!!!!!!
Very reassuring.
Thank you and keep up the great work.
skill at its best
They are only doing their job, nothing unusual here. And 2500 meter runway is not very short for a 747 with little fuel. 747s landed daily at Oslo, Fornebu in the eighties on its 2200meter runway. Weather perfect here, no sweat. And of course they are calm, if they weren't they should find another job.
I admire them taking the responsibility flying all those passengers though.
Doing his job
Calm at the helm, co pilot verbal confirmation is reassuring
Captain Victoriano and First Officer Barbara, you make it look so easy!
I have built 747's for 32 years......I only thought I was good at my job....WOW!!!!!! :-)
.......as a side note, the -400 is a joke next to the -800.....even though we are winding down due to production demands the 747 is not dead by a longshot....what Boeing plans are i do not know, but clutch turbines and other 'goodies" to decrease fuel consumption are in the works.......96 work days until retirement.......outside of the Marine Corps I have never had any other job.....the highlight of my "career" was to shake the hand of Joe Sutter at the Everett facility in Washington....he was my hero ......First Chief Engineer for the "Queen of the Skies"....
:50 is probably my favorite sound ever! And I ride a Harley Davidson.
have been on a Qantas B747-400ER Charter flight (VH-OEB) into Iguazu Falls (IGU) Brazil .. its runway is only 2200 metres long ...
I want this pilot when I fly next!
Nice Video and great description. Thanks
This pilot is one cool customer.
Lufthansa is worth the money, very professional from bottom to top of aviation personnel.
Nice camera angles, thanks for sharing!
please could tell me why the slats retract directly after touchdown?
Beautiful you couldn't tell when he hit the runway.
true professional at work fantastic.
Calmness comes with experience.
I love Airbus and Boeing 747
well done sir so calm
Landing is NEVER routine. Bravo.
What did the lever do, the one that he pushed forward at 2.08secs? I thought I saw it move backwards when he touched down but he definitely moved it forward by hand afterwards.
Speed brake (spoilers)
He makes it look so simple
whats that lever that automatically moved when he landed?
Cute Co-pilot
Loved the golf clap at the end of runway.
My driving instructor told me to keep both my hands on the wheel at all times.
Just wondering....Were all landings at Kai Tak from the same direction, over the city?
Nice to see Concorde travelling in high speed to reach Newyork in very short time.
Thank you--great video!
Boeing 747, still the prettiest bird in the air today.
When I get on an aircraft, if I see gray hair on a pilot, I know I'm in good shape! Tons of experience!
He is the coolest guy in the world.
Cool...on my bucket list to fly on a 747..
What an amazing landing!
Beautiful Co-Pilot, couple that with her Skills - outstanding! These are 2 Great Pilots.
Do the leading edge slats and the trailing edge work in tandom? In other words there's only one manual function from the flight deck?
Awesome Spanish Ace. Smooth..calm..on point!
Was für ein super Pilot!!!
The man knows his stuff !!! :-)
What is the handle by the captain's right knee? It moves back right at touchdown, and he puts it forward as he stops.
That is the speedbrake (spoiler) handle. If it's armed, as it usually is, they deploy at touchdown.
great piloting on the classic 747 cool and smooth landing! rob
Because of the tilted landing gear a 747 makes a very soft landing when done right. In my career I had several in which the flight engineer (-100 and -200 models) thought that I had reversed the engines before we touched down.
