Didn't you read? You have to be a Captain for ten years before you can land there. Even in MSFS2020😆👍🤔
its one of the hand crafted ones too
what in insane approach!! literally snaking through the valleys and dont see the runway until last minute. incredible skill and courage by pilots
Yeah, I was thinking, where is that runway?
That's exactly what I was thinking, that was just insane! Incredibly impressive.

These pilots are the best in the world. Only those with special skill and ability can fly to this mountainous area. Good job Bhutan.
It’s a different skill set. These guys are no different than Alaskan Bush pilots except they do it with very big planes.
Not only an amazing flight, really though brought a tear to my eye of how amazingly kind the people where, flight crew, the pilot, truly an adventure to remember
10:52 when Captain prays before starting the approach.....you know it's a difficult airport

There are a lot of monastery’s and since he’s a Buddhist he’s praying before reading there.
Can't hurt have a problem in those mountains no where to set it down except in at he airport

Bhutan is a beautiful country ....many of us think that why there Bhutan didn't have any skyscrapers ....bcz they did not demolished Thier natural beauty.......hill, forest.....❤️ Love Bhutan 🇧🇹 from India 🇮🇳
I did not think why they don't have skyscrapers, as no one ever demolished an entire hill to build skyscrapers, lol.
And no border too
We dont have borders

Of course there are skyscrapers in Bhutan. They build monastery's on them.
Other people call them "mountains". ;)

That pilot has some serious skills! That looked like a military style landing. I flew about 5 times a year when I was in the Navy and those Naval pilots were precise. This guy has that level of skills.
Anise thank you for your service
I don't know But maybe he is ex Air Force Officer

So much respect to the pilot ,he is really a genuine and friendly Pilot and he really explaining step by step👏👏👏👏 and also to his Assistant Pilot. . ..you all are amazing 👏👏👏👏🙏 GODBLESS you all
You're amazing too I'm vine.
Have seen this video a few times before, each time I enjoy watching. Thanks to Cpt Chenga, his description of the terrain and beautiful way of piloting makes all the difference. Compliments to the entire crew and the scenic country.
10:34 "You can see the airfield just now -- now you can't see it. You see the airfield only at the last minute."
Such a comforting thing for a pilot to say.
@ShadowA5 LANGUAGE bro
That pilot is one of the most professional pilot that I have ever seen man that approach angle doe
He seems to know every pointy mountain. He knows the area well. LOL
Pilot very experienced. I am scared to even imagine , how’s going landing in bad weather condition.
@@fahrenheitfahrenheit2799 I don't think they allow flights in bad weather
@@fahrenheitfahrenheit2799 It's a VFR only approach and departure. Actually they don't have a published SID. They need to fly visual to leave the airport area.
He's not following sterile cockpit rule so I wouldn't say the most professional
The pilot is simply amazing. He's so nice and very accommodating.
The flight crew from the captain to the attendants were so polite. What a joy, that they felt comfortable to share with you (and, by extension, all of us who look at this) the nuances of the flight. Thank you all, you for filming, and the captain and his crew for being so hospitable. Delightful video
The birds eye view at the end really put into perspective how dangerous it was!
Never watched or seen such polite people on a plane shame every flight isn’t the same
Captain: You can see there are a lot of monasteries here. Look, another one!
Sweating cameraman: Can you please just focus?
Hahaha.. Exactly.. He didn't say anything at that point.. 😂 😂
I was thinking the same thing. Like ok sir, I don’t want to get in your way please focus on the landing.
Cameraman: Stop talking about God and Monasteries ! You just prayed for landing! You are the pilot ! BRACE BRACE BRACE !
"That's the monastery that will handle our funerals if we crash."
Cameraman: What
😂😂😂
Pilots must love this.
I know some pilots who fly into DCA regularly, and many of them get a kick out of the windy route near the end that follows the Potomac because you can't fly over DC itself.
This takes that practice to a whole other level.
What a humble people, Captain really deserves huge respect, love from India 🙏
Love Bhutanese culture and the people, these pilots are pure bravehearts, wish to visit this magnificent country some day, lots of love and respect from india 💐
10:53 , I felt humbled , Captain doing a quick prayer before landing , even while he is flying manually 🙏🏽
And yet someone asked why does the Captain prayed?? Stupid right? It's his believe and prayers for a safe landing.
@@mloganathanmuthusamy3884 Yes maybe, but primarily it´s his duty to pilot the plane...

Buddhist prayer! ♥
Guys don't be stupid when pilot pray.. it's buddhist believe and only true soul of Buddhist does..there is nothing to be scare and stop using your dull brain that make no sense..it's not his 1st day..hope u got it what I mean🤫
Bhutanese are really respectful people, a few times I visited Bhutan, it is not easy flying. Respect to Pilots of Bhutan Airlines!🙏
The pilot deserve double paid for his career and tour guiding
I love how the captain basically decides to pray as he starts his approach. This approach is legendarily difficult in aviation, as I’m sure anyone who flies in the comments here already knows, and probably is the reason you came to see this video anyway.
what? he is actually praying?
@@h_enrix_92 yes, that landing takes a ton of skill and luck to pull off
@@Ohhelmno but i dont think he was really praying
@@h_enrix_92 Ooo yes he was, not uncommon with Buddhist pilots 😂
Well folded hand and reciting a few Mantras. THATS praying. Folks don't worry about it if you don't know about it. Concentrate on the Topic of flying. 👍
I respect all the pilots The flight from Kathmando to Paro Airport Bhutan by Chief Captain Chenga and co pilot is appreciable and that he explained Mt Everest and adjoining peaks When descending to land Captain Chang pointed out the monastries and prayed to God with devotion Thank you very much for this remarkable video
I just went on your video after looking for other videos related to Bhutan. Reminded me my own trip to that country (a quite complicated trip from Paris, France) where I stayed for a few days for a local event about Free Software back in 2006. It's like 17+ years from now and I still remember each and every detail of that amazing trip. I still amazingly proud of having this privilege back then. And, for what's is worth, I had a les impressive landing and takeoff as we were in coulds......but I remember going to Paro for one of the days I was there....and enjoy watching planes landing and taking off with a local fellow who knew the Right Spot to witness this. Thank you for this nice trip from Katmandu to Paro (I came from Bangkok instead of Katmandu, so the flight was much longer and less enjoyable as we were much far away from the 8000m peaks. I could only see very briefly the Gangkhar Puensum (highest point of Bhutan and the highest unclimbed moutain in the world). I hope you enjoyed all of your trip to Bhutan and not only the flight...:-)
Mad respect! Flying an Airbus into valleys and maneuvering on a purely visual approach takes guts and skills! Winds can be wacky and your normal sight picture you're used to gets all messed up! Great job!
Thanks for the cockpit ride and landing. The Bhutanese are kind and pure at their very heart
This what they call experience and skill.
The captain was too friendly. Such a humble and knowledgeable person
Thank you so much Sam. That was like landing at our small town airport up here in the mountains, but in a big plane! Wonderful diplomatic friendliness, building bridges. :)

I loved how he folded his hands towards his holiness (LORD BUDDHA/RINPOCHE/I dont know). This gratitude of the bhutanese people towards their culture sets them apart from the rest of the world.
The most unique and perhaps the best flying footage of Mt. Everest that I've ever seen. Such a different perspective.
I remember when I did this flight pretty much EVERYONE in the cabin went to the same side to stare at Everest at the same time -- it was pretty alarming but an EXTRAORDINARY view.
