Honda Jon is the not the hero we deserve but the hero we need!
Aww thanks bro. I do really appreciate all you. 👊🏼
Not sure if this is a compliment or not…
Thank you ! My sound was the only thing I didn’t like about my Accord .
Thank you!! This trick worked on my 2022 Honda Accord Sport 🙌🏾🙌🏾 Not all heroes wear capes!
This is one of the best tips I’ve found that actually works!!! I thought my speakers were blown since it sounded so distorted. I almost replaced the speakers and tore the rear deck apart. Luckily HONDA JON helped me out. Thank you
Great! Glad to hear that it helped you out. 👍🏻
After u turn off the car do u need to do it again?
I can’t say I was overly impressed with this settings change with my factory speakers. After replacing them though I can say it makes a big difference.
For the 2020 Honda CRV EX-L the head unit limits the EQ response and it sounds terrible. No bass
Would love to get insight from a Honda Engineer as to what this really does. Some people were saying it was a soft switch to disable ANC but that theory has been proven wrong. What the hell does "PS Setting" mean!?
Exactly, would love to know what it means.
Maybe Preset Stereo Setting idk though
New to my Honda but in my world at work PS means power saving, could that be it? Mane relates to the radio use when in aux mode?
@@mattmcalester8939 good guess, it's possible it could have something to do with that.
Us LX owners are crying bc we don’t have the same head unit
It worked on my 2021 LX
You can do it even if it’s LX and no touchscreen.
@@jerrydixon9343How did you do it.I have the 2023 lx and the audio is terrible ugh
my 2019 lx is completely different and unfortunately does not work… 😔so sad
L
This also works for the 2024 models. The only difference is that there is no physical source button, so instead you'll hold down the Home + Vol knob + rewind buttons for 6 seconds. Everything else is identical. Thanks Honda Jon! I've been racking my brain on how to sneakily get better audio without harming my new lease. It's not a massive difference, but the clearer audio and slightly more responsive bass is noticeable and just what I needed.
Nice. Thanks for that info. Anything helps for sure. 👍🏻
What do you mean rewind button?
@@blackieechan it’s the
Not on 23/24 BOSE system
@@joelento5823 Yeah, I can't attest to the Bose or premium sound systems. I've got a 24 Sport.
It is ridiculous how much of an improvement this makes! I cannot imagine why they would have put this “feature” into the system. I wonder what PS on does other than make the audio system sound terrible.
i'm guessing it means "preset"
Obvious question: if turning this setting off makes such a dramatic improvement, why on earth would the default be “on”?
From factory is more of a balanced sound which does sacrifice the deeper sound that a lot of people prefer
I googled this, and one response was that this disabled the Honda DSP. Still don’t know why this would be a buried option.
@@CageyLeigh what is DSP?

Honda soften the sound to save the sound system and make it last longer, but I want more bass ☺️
Same here.
If you have a 2023 Ridgeline, you need to simultaneously press and hold the Home + Menu + Brightness + Volume/On/Off buttons, once the two choices pop up, select the lower choice, then press and hold the menu button until more choices appear. Then select Audio Test and turn off ANC. It works a dream on the audio quality.
I could tell/hear the audio literally interfere with itself. This turns off "Active Noise Canceling". It will stop trying to cancel the parts of the music it thinks is Noise. Would that be correct ?
@@normansimonsen1203 ANC crushes the dynamics into a solid mass of sound at low volume and gives some dynamics at mid volume, until once again crushing the audio peaks and turning the sound back into a solid mass at higher volume settings. So effectively the music is just a way to piss of the driver so much, they never notice the road noise, while in reality the music has become masking noise.
Oh it definitely pisses off the owner of a 42,000.$ new vehicle vehicle with a sound system worse than a 1965 2 transistor radio 📻.
Unfortunately, doesn't work for UK'S civics
@@vini5729 Best way is to remove the ALC module. My Honda dealer quoted me $180 to do it.
Man i have a 22 2.0t and the audio setting is not an option why
That’s weird. It definitely should be.
Great video 👍🏼. I tried this with my new 2022 crv which had terrible sound quality. Was a little different for my car. Pressed brightness, power and phone button same time to get the hidden screen.
How did you get to the PS setting ? I been trying holding different buttons but can’t get to the ps setting
And then?
For honda crv you need to hold the phone button to go the next menu.. do this twice until you see the syscom free mode. Then turn off the EQ to flat.. it sounds better !
Great video! However, for anyone watching this, there is also a CTR ACC SOCKET (#16) for the charger in the center console in between the driver and passenger seat...
Thanks and great info 👊🏼
I have a 2023 Passport EXL. Can I do this as well? And will this setting stick after the next car start?
Just did this on my 2023 Civic Sport Touring and it's a night and day difference. Got the treble, mid, and bass cranked all the way up as well. Makes a big difference.
👍🏻
How did you do it on a civic if the source button is on the screen?
What buttons did u press
Yes how is it done mine is also on the steering wheel
Treble bass and mid all the way
Holy crap, bug big difference! Thank you ! Why don't they have it set there as a default?
I know right? They keep it balanced. It definitely helps our system. 👊🏼
@@HondaJon does this work on the 2021 honda odessy
It should just not positive if the sequence is the same
So you don’t blow your speakers out
It doesn't work with the lx
How do you do this in a 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid Sport L? I can get to the diagnosis menu, but when I hold the home button to get to the other menu it doesn’t do anything!
You can’t just touch the screen to get to different menus?
@@HondaJon no, when I hold the home button while in diagnosis mode to get to the PS menu it doesn’t do anything!
my 2019 touring doesn't have a source button on the right side Odyssey
Wow I just did this to my 2021 Honda Accord Sport and all I can say is WOW!!!!! What a difference
Definitely makes a big impact 👍🏻
Well good to know it works on a 2021. Will be trying this out eventually.
Thank you. You're the greatest. I just LOVE my silver 2020 Honda Accord Sport. Have a super great day.
Aww. Thanks so much. 👍🏻
That’s the exact Honda Accord I want but haven’t found one yet around or near Stockton, CA area (The Valley)
Thank you! Have a 22 Accord Sport 2.0T and I did do this on my car and sounds better! Thanks 🙏🏻
Do you perhaps know How to disable Active Noise Canceling ANC system in Honda CRV 2023 is the same on civic 2023, there is no audio setting or PS setting in the settings.
does anyone know how to do this in a 2024 honda accord hybrid ex-l????
Removes the compression sounds like. More dynamic range.
I like it!
Yeah definitely gives it a richer sound. Makes the stereo sound pretty good considering.

My 2019 accord sport has no home button the day night button is at top
Honda Jon again with another great fix. Thank you so much!
my 2019 touring doesn't have a
There’s another video that says to turn it on and I’ve had better luck with turning it on than turning it off. Maybe because I messed with the Treble and Bass settings.
Edit: 10-21-21 I decided to revisit this and just turned the setting OFF and I noticed a difference. Louder and better bass. When I first got the car, the setting was OFF and the first video I watched was the other video telling you to turn it ON. I will retry in a couple of weeks to turn it on and see then if I see a difference lol.
Edit: 1-22-22 So I’ve tested both on and off settings. For me the off setting works better. I listen to bassy music like rap, hip-hop, banda, corridos & reggaetón (if that helps anyone at all) lol. My treble settings are 4 clicks to the right from the middle & bass is 5 clicks from the middle. My midrange is set 1 click to the left from the middle. The balance/fader is set to be tight in the middle. If anyone tries these settings lmk. Just wanting to help out!
Didnt work for me. I have a 2022 Sport limited
Now, what about the 2016 Accord Sport....lol
I changed the fuse and the 12v socket still doesn't work. Could it be something else? The two USB outlets directly next to the 12v outllet have always been working. Just the 12V doesn't work. Any thoughts? I have a 2021 Accord EXL
I would check the connection behind the 12v socket.
Does anyone know how to do this on the new Honda HRV 2024?
Now I know what I'm doing at lunch time and testing with Thunderstruck!
Nice. You’ll notice the difference. Makes an improvement over the average audio system
@@HondaJon And so will all of my neighbors.
😝
I’m aware this is mainly for the Accord but is there one for a Civic? Specifically 2020? I’d love to this. It sounds decent but you can only “see” the bass in the mirror.🤷🏻♂️
I just tried it but haven’t test it out yet I will let yall know once I do😊
I have a 2023 Civic sport my settings look different on mine most of it is done on the steering wheel how can I do the upgrade with what I have
Wondering the same!
I might take a look into this but tbh Idk if I will ever play the speakers loud enough to warrant doing this. I usually keep the audio volume at 10 ish, 15 max (15 is usually if I have the windows down)... I'm paranoid about my hearing so I dont like loud music. I've never had any audio sound bad or distorted, maybe it's because I have the touring model so the speakers are better?
I just changed the battery in my ‘18 accord and the radio doesn’t work and a black screen. Only thing shows on that screen is when I go in reverse. I did try the power button hold for a few seconds. Any ideas?
Try disconnecting the negative terminal for 30 minutes and reconnecting. Then drove for about 15 minutes and see if it comes back on
It doesn't work when holding 3 buttons at same time
Did it thanks amazingly better sound.
Definitely 👍🏻
Hey man, I have a Honda accord 2019 and I don’t have a home button or source button
YESSS
same please help!!!
It's refactoring the Flux Capacitor.
My guy thank you, night and day difference
My Bluetooth and phone button on the screen won’t work anymore if I connect a phone to Bluetooth the music doesn’t play???? How do I fix it ?
That’s a very Common problem. What seems to help his go in there and delete your phone. And then delete your car from your phone settings on your Bluetooth. And repair them. When I did that it definitely fixed it. Sometimes there’s glitches and it has issues pairing up
How can I do this with my 2020 honda civic hatchback sport touring?
I’m
Not exactly sure of the sequence but I know there is a way to do it.
Any luck with CRV Hybrid Sports, 7 inch screen?
I’m sure it has a similar option but would require a different sequence. Not 100 what it is though.
Does this work for 2018 Civic Sport Touring Hatchback?
It should. But I think it’s a different sequence
Do you perhaps know How to disable Active Noise Canceling ANC system in Honda CRV 2023 is the same on civic 2023, there is no audio setting or PS setting in the settings.
I believe it’s located behind the glove box that you have to actually unplug. I know that’s where the Accord one is located.
@@HondaJon How I can’t do it
does that have the same for the 2024 HRV sport model if so how i would like to do that thanks
There is a way but not sure of the exact sequence
Does it work on the touring?? I just tried it and it won’t take me to that screen
If it’s the same screen it should. I had to try a few times.
Will this work in a 2019 Honda crv exl?
It should.
This worked on my 2019. You rock, Honda Jon!
👊🏼
Wish there was a way to do this on the Honda Ridgeline (they have the older stereo)
I’m sure there is. We just have to find this mode.
My 2018 1.5 accord didn’t do anything when i held the buttons down🤷♂️any other way to access that screen??
Is the display the same with the same buttons?
@@HondaJon yes everything exactly the same. It’s just holding down the buttons does nothing on mine. Maybe last owner did something?
I have the 452watt premium, you think it will also work?
I do. It does help make the sound clearer.
I don’t have ( audio settings ) after i hold on home button, what can i do?
I forget the sequence but there is a way. Check through the comments. Someone wrote how to do it.
Did you change the treble, bass, and mid, to your liking or did you just leave them all the same. I’m trying to figure out what settings would be better for each. Thanks
I did change them. After while
I change them again lol
2018 accord 2.0 Touring with the premium audio here. It makes no difference on mine, whether on XM or Android auto. Switching mine back to ON since nobody really knows what the PS stands for.
how do you do this in a 2017 civic sport touring?
Not 100%. Usually involves holding the power button and menu button. Maybe someone can chime in with a civic.
No difference
It's not popping up. I hold the buttons but it doesn't work
It takes a few tries. It has to be precise.
Not sure I can tell the difference. But why not try it. Where’s the setting for more power, better speakers, a sub? Wife has a 2018 civic with premium sound. Sooooooo much better.
Pulled up task manager on mine
Help… I have a 2020 Honda CRV EX-L and the sound is terrible. No bass and the back speakers don’t seem to work
Have you adjusted the balance in the setting?
@@HondaJon I have... I changed the EQ with the bass all the way up and the mid/high a little above halfway. It helped a little. I was thinking of changing the speakers to a higher sensitivity set that doesn't need as much power to push it. I'm worried if I upgrade the speakers they won't match the head unit and sound worse even though they're better quality. Any Ideas of speakers that would give better bass response that are plug in play so to speak?
@greg6162 I agree. The stock system isn’t the best. Better speakers would definitely help a bit. If you want a lot more bass an amp would
He needed since the stock system isn’t bass heavy. Almost any speaker will be plug and play with the appropriate pigtails
Do you know if this works on the 2022 Accord Touring?
It definitely should.
Why does the volume go down when you record inside the car? Can that be fixed i have a 2021
What do you mean recording?
Would this work on a 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback EX-L ?
Not sure it’s the same sequence but every system has this hidden menu. Does your screen look similar?
ua-cam.com/video/9QLD9ugyva0/v-deo.html
I tired it on the touring model, cant seem to tell the difference. >.
The touring has a pretty good sound system as is. On the sport it’s pretty subpar so any changes you can really tell
Great video, but this not working for me. I have a 2020 Honda Accord Sport 2.0T.Can u help? Thanks
Thanks. Try it again. It should definitely work. Takes a couple tries.

Hi Honda Jon will this work for the 2022 touring 10 speaker system?
It should if the interface is the same.

‘23 Accord Sport Hybrid doesn’t have the 2 buttons to work with so I’ll wait until a fix is available
any tips for the 23 civic sport?
I tried the hidden menu in there and turned EQ off, but the change doesnt seem to save after the car is power cycled...
Not sure about the new Civic. Maybe someone here knows how to do it?
@@HondaJon any help would be great. Turning eq off sounds better but the setting just doesnt save
That’s strange. I’ll see what I can find. 👍🏻
That's weird, I have 2018 EXL and I don't have this option
Thank you for this tip! I’ve started getting used to the sound quality but I definitely don’t mind better sound!
No problem. It’s does definitely help the average sound system for sure. 👍🏻
Not working for me bud. Holding the home, power, tune for 6 seconds. No beep, no change in screen to the next step. Any ideas? Mine is a 2021 exl model
Any tricks for a 2012 Honda Accord?
Not that I know.
Can i change the temperature for c insted of f
I’m
It sure on that one.
Definitely made it better, maybe upper trim is same system with this software switch
Yep, you can tell the difference. On a different topic. I'm on my second Gen 10...had a 2018 on a three yr lease and they called me and paid it off for me after two years if I would come get something else. They needed the used cars. I got a nice Accord Hybrid but on both vehicles the night time contrast on the back up camera is terrible and I've seen other mentions of that. Do you know of any solutions? I switched out the back up lights for led's hoping the additional brightness would help but it didn't. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks man and the Accord hybrid is great. I have noticed that too. It’s pretty grainy. I haven’t seen a way to fix it unfortunately. Maybe someone else has a trick?
All this did was make the audio start skipping. I quickly switched it back and the skipping is gone.
Does it works on EX-L/Touring trim which comes with 10 speakers premium audio.?
Does it affect anything else to the car beside better audio sound. Thanks.
I did it in my EX-L and the difference is amazing. It really kicks in around volume 12. I keep treble around even, boost mids, max bass and subs. You can play with how to you set it, but the treble is overkill in the stock system. Search for the stock speakers and check the tiny magnets! I haven't done it yet, but I think turning PS off AND changing some speakers will do wonders (stupid "premium" sound...)
For sure. It makes a huge difference and does sound way more premium?
How to do it on civic 2023 sport
We have to figure out how to get into developer mode 🤔
Does the car need to be on for this I try on my 21 but it’s not working nothing happens when I do this
No. It needs to be in accessory mode though.
