A suggestion to consider... for sleep equipment consider switching out your beanie for a trapper or bomber style hat with chin flaps and an under chin tie or clip...it is warmer and feels more secure and won't come off your head, ever, while you are sleeping at 4am.. And consider switching out the sleeping socks for sleeping booties, either poly fill or down. I think you'll find both will greatly increase your sense of psychological warmth. Something about having the head and head extremely well covered and insulated I have found to greatly increase the quality of my outdoor sleep . My booties are Wiggy's and my trapper and bomber hats are various...I have a few. Have spent extensive time sleeping outside in New England winters and shoulder seasons and would use this particular equipment any time it gets below 50F. Have a great hike!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I've tried down booties before and wasn't super impressed, but they were cheap knock off ones. I imagine the pricier ones would be nice.
I had the ghost whisperer and hated it. It doesn't have enough down to be useful. I found a better down jacket at walmart for a 10th the price. Love the rest of your gear except for the huge nail clippers. Get a set of baby clippers. :-) So happy to see you back on trail.
Haha. You're right I did not do much work on the nail clippers. The ghost whisperer has worked fine for me, but I can see why you say that. I did have a budget puffy on the PCT and it worked just as well.
In my limited experience (I live really North) staying warm is always worth the weight, or you end up carrying a lot of more food, or start slowly starving. Similarly - if you have too hot, your heart will do a lot more work - plus you will sweat a lot more - so will need more food and water - i.e. I highly recommend a lightweight umbrella - it really helps in a really sunny places, or in rain (i.e. not having to wear the sauna rain jacket). 7oz saves it's weight in water needed. Temperature comfort saves energy and weight.
I switched from Altras to Topos and like them for my high arches. They seem to hold up longer but also take longer to dry. Hope your feet stay happy while on trail! Looking forward to your hike.
Do you know the model of the Kuhl hoodie with buttons and pockets? Looked on their site; can't find under Men's or Women's. Looks like my ideal desert hiking shirt. Thx and happy trails.
How exciting to get ready for this new adventure! 😁 I especially like to see other women going out on their own! So I'll try to follow your CDT! Have a great weekend! ATB 😀
They are most common as uv protecting fishing shirts for hot weather. There are a bunch of companies that make them . Try fishing uv shirt hood as search
that mini bidet top works GREAT - I bring along a dedicated 11 oz Evian water bottle - the Evian top is a little wider which seems to work better. I still use TP but the water keeps it clean and free of rash.
That is a very kind request. I don't currently have anything set up for that kind of support. If that changes, I will certainly let you know. Thank you.

I've looked on their website too, and unfortunately I don't think they make it anymore. I got this one off a clearance rack at REI.

Welcome back and good vibes for the CDT!
Woohoo! Thanks!
I really like your hiking shirt with the hood. Do you know what model it is. I can't find it online. =(
I've had several people ask me about that. Unfortunately, Kuhl doesn't seem to make it anymore. This one was found on a clearance rack at REI.

Great video. Topo best shoe I’ve found.
Glad you like them. This one didn't seem to work for me, but maybe I'll try them again in the future.
