as an introvert, i can't recomend her book enough. it made me feel normal, that nothing's wrong with being introverted and it can be used to be successful
Can you mention the book please
Usama bin farooq Book called Quiet... I guess.
May be you diddnt read the book properly !!;-)
Hhh
@@Usamabinfarooq It's called "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking."
She puts herself in the spotlight for us, much appreciated Susan!
I remember back in school my teachers thought I had problems because I would never raise my hand in class to answer. I just felt so pressured by them because while I always knew the answers I just didn't feel comfortable speaking out.
Raluca C Same. My French teacher always told me that i was good but i would never raise my hands. She even told me that "People like you will only end up working as researchers" and that kinda makes me sad and angry
Same here
The same applies to me. Teachers always labeled me as shy because I didn't feel the need to constantly talk to the other kids. What I wish more teachers would understand is that introverted children are just as interesting as extroverts. I've learned to embrace the benefits of solitute at a young age and I'm much more comfortable in my own skin. I'm not going to be more chatty because that is what society tells me I should be.
Raluca C omg samee! I literally did not raise my hand for a year
@@alyagyzmova9252 I don't raise my hand since 2nd grade 😎
"It takes strength to go out in this noisy world"🥺🥺🥺
She's a great spokesperson for introverts. Be happy with who you are.
Skavlan is a great interviewer. Susan is one of my favourite people in the world, and you made her feel comfortable, you let her speak and her main learning is that we learn the full spectrum of introversion-extroversion towards a better and more beautiful life. Thanks for inviting Susan!
She's just beautiful down under, people just wants to listen to her she can turn around people's insights about people who are introverts.
Today I'm definitely more introverted than when I was younger. I'm 36 now. Back in days I liked going to parties, meeting friends. Now I'd rather stay home. With my son and wife. Doing nothing really.
I had no idea at first who that kid was, but as soon as he started speaking I thought "That can only be Steve Irwin's son". Susan Cain with some great insights also - I look forward to reading her book.
Who's Steve Irwin?
I felt guilty loving solitude, but I had 7 years of wild living before that. When dating was suggested I felt Ill. Bob
Oh wow, Rob Irwin just so similar to his dad here. Intensely present, focused, naturally extroverted, intelligent, eloquent, yet so respectful and mindful of those around him. Such a tremendous level of decency.
Steve Irwin was and always will be a legend. And Rob whether he realises it or not, wish it or not, is so much of a semblance to his legendary dad..
I rather stay with my dogs than with a bunch of people who are talking for the sake of talking.
Years ago I blending in with the extrovert crowd. I was sitting on the couch at a Friday night gathering,I noticed people bragging about their yearly salary, talking about what some celebrity had for breakfast, the bar fight down the street, what kind of car their driving, the latest comic books, all kinds of gibberish I'm not interested in. While sitting on that couch, all of a sudden I ask myself "what the f#*! Am I doing here!" To this day I still don't see the point in partying, small talk,or an urgent need to get to know people.
Susan Cain.. I just love her!
love from America. Big up for showing introverts some love. Susan always represents. Quiet fist bump.
Great and insightful interview.
We're so glad you like it - thanks for watching!
Very important discussion.! Liked it :)
I wonder whether the reason why Western societies favour extroverts could also be the result of the neoliberal system? In a neoliberal system, concepts such as rapid growth, dynamism, sales and marketing, self-promotion, and short-term thinking are key. Perhaps, extroverts are more prone to these concepts. If this is true, one might wonder whether the current changes in societies will call for more introverts, i.e. people who can think in a more sustainable way...
I found the TED talk, then this one and once again I'm directed to the Irwins. Happy birthday to his dad Steve 22nd February. Thinking of going to Australia Zoo watching Jimmy Fallon animal interactions and Robert is here. I'm 80% introvert and I feel that animal interaction balances the rest out with some human interaction. 🐖🐎🐒🐄
I am extremely gregarious at weddings but always make sure I have a room in the hotel to repair to mid evening. Then later, back to pick up with a few drinks.
My hero. ✌
She sounds like Phoebe.
Extroverts are so bloody irritating.
Mine Introverted perspective of this social situation. She have to sometimes look at the boy out of politeness. But she don't respect him very much (cuz you know he is just inexperienced boy and maybe not interested in the theme) and just denote (idk if this word is right in english) attention. Uncomfortable situation probably for both of them. It made me cringe. I wanted to close video. Irl is the same. It could be overwhelming.
I wouldn't really consider introverts to be underrated. I mean, who makes a statement like that. probably an extrovert.
If anything we are probably more intense when it comes to focus and doing things correctly.
I think introverts aren’t underrated tbh...
