Nice vids! Regular sf pier fishermen here. Where have all the anchoivies gone? I'd say past 2 yrs they just disappeared. They used to be hitting right on the dot at high tide. Now they're just gone. Bro where they at now? I tried all piers no luck. J&p is pricey. Thanks
Sometimes huge schools come by and we catch them 3 at a time the instant you drop into the water. Other times they are more sparse and you may catch one every few minutes. Occasionally there are no anchovies around at all, but there are always shiner perch and smelt which make good halibut bait as well. Generally there are the most anchovies in the summer months.
Sorry for the delayed reply. You can catch shiners and smelt on the same sabiki rig with shrimp. I don't think time of day is very important but bait fish are usually most prevalent near high tide, and the same goes for halibut.
@@theholycrusader6788 I'll add a segment on it in the next live bait video. I use either a three-way swivel or a dropper loop to suspend my bait a foot or so off the bottom. Small size 2 octopus hook and 20 lb mono leader lets the anchovy swim freely.
Thanks for watching! I only have a 3/8" mesh cast net and the anchovies slip through it easily. It works well for smelt though. A 1/4" mesh net would work for anchovies
Thanks for watching! There are usually anchovies in most parts of the SF Bay from around March-October. You can find them in Winter but it's not as reliable.
You 3 need a lesson how pick up your pole when you see a bite. Also stop wasting time and hook your fish!!!! Stop being amateurs!!! You guys got the bait and process down jus do better at execution and youll catch more fish. Keep the hooks in the water and keep them poles bent boys🤙🏼
You guys are killing it with the anchovy! Great job putting your friends on the fish again !
Good job! Which pier is it? I have been to only fort point ( torpedo warpf) , no license required in public pier?
Thanks😊
Awesome! Congrats Xander!
awesome video! keep them up
Thank you for always watching the videos!
I caught a few with my old man using fresh bait from fish we caught, it was my first try and it worked! They taste so good

@@sf_angler Thank You for the response but do shiner perch and smelt use the same rigs as anchovies thank you also what time is best to catch fish?

Hi, what pier were you at?
Thanks for watching! All of the piers in SF have halibut, this one is near the Giants stadium
what pier is this in sf?
Where are you guys at?
hey i live in the east bay, you know any good spots around here for halibuts?
Thanks for watching! There are halibut all over the east bay shoreline, Alameda Rockwall is a very popular spot
Let’s go!!!!
Can’t wait to get back to the SF bay to catch some flatties
We gotta meet up and do some halibut fishing before the summer is over!
@@sf_angler for sure
Guided pier fishing?
You should do a video about how to cast heavy lures on baitcasters (for a beginner).
It can be frustrating, I'll include a segment in the next swimbait video
@@sf_angler Thanks!
You need to be 100% sure that the halibut is 22 inches before using your "gaff treble hook". Good luck!
Catch and Release Batrays!
What was your set up for the halibut bait
Thanks for watching! I just used a sabiki rig tipped with shrimp to catch the anchovies. I added a short demo in the beginning of the video.
I'm sorry I misspoke I mean for the rig for cating the actual halibut

Have you tried using a cast net instead of a sabiki?

What rig do you use for live bait? Also nice halibut!
Basically a high-low but with a swivel on dropper loop. I'll try to put a better explanation in a video soon. Thanks for watching
Nice dive big ☝️
Thanks Junior, good luck on Sunday!
Are the anchovies always there?

where's this place?
By the ballpark in San Francisco. Thanks for watching!
If you're fishing a pier, im pretty sure you can actually use a sabiki for baitfish.
The fish has a pp💀
