Not a question but a shining compliment I hope Dr. Shereene sees: I’ve purchased SO many helpful things for my skin watching your channel, and I have saved SO much MONEY!! I don’t have to waste money in a crapshoot anymore and there really is great drugstore skincare options that truly work, I just never knew which ones to trust and which ones were caca.
I am 30 and have introduced a bunch of helpful things into my skincare routine (A313 Retinol, triple paste, Naturium Vit. C serum, Panoxl cleanser) and my skin has never been happier.

Let's take the word cheaper & replace it with "cost per oz" or "cost per ingredient"
Some hydrating creams range from $2 per oz to $30, $90 or more!
When we compare multiple items at cost per oz - comparing the ingredients side by side it helps us see the product in a more honest light
Vs just seeing "hyloranic acid for $29 for 1 oz" you might think that is a good deal. Until you compare it to a few other options that have the same ingredients, maybe even one extra you love for $19 an oz or $29 for 2.5oz"
Creating a spreadsheet on your phone will enable you to see products even more clearly & allow you to take notes on what your skin liked & disliked

@@MowieVannwhen you’re ready to take your analysis to the next level t level, consider tracking how long a product lasts. Comparing cost per ounce is a good start, but some products go a long way while others don’t.

I am not a board-certified dermatologist, but I am someone who loves skincare, and I would say if you feel like your skin is getting thin, then I recommend hyaluronic acid. You can put on damp clean skin, and you also can ingest it in capsule form.
Scientific studies have shown that ingestible hyaluronic acid increased the thickness of people’s skin over eight weeks when they took 250 mg daily.

As someone who has very very dry skin to the point it flakes and bleeds & even "dry" organs to the point they do not work well i have found cutting out "dry" foods helps wonders.
When i stopped eating chips & reduced bread to twice a week my skin & organ greatly improved
Next. There is a new study: if you eat fiber veggies before food & before you start your day the fiber will coat your liver & organs like a protective barrier to help flush out chemicals & fats from the food.
So i tried it. A cucumber in the blender with water to start my day and my skin is so moist! My organs work. I go potty regulary. I can think clearer.
I researched "high water content foods" & eat those with every meal
Next i reduced my shower time (i hate this one) to ten minutes and yet again my skin improved. The hot water was drying out my skin. Once a week i coat myself in aveno dry skin lotion & take a long hot bath. I found the lotion takes 15 minutes to come off the skin in the tub so that's 15 minutes my skin is not dying out

I have the same skin type! So something that has been hugely beneficial for me is the la rocheposay cicaplast baume on top of my moisturiser. I love Kiehls, and they have a set called something like "glow" (includes a squalane cleanser, glycolic acid serum and moisturiser) which works well too. I learned a while ago that acne also starts with a backed up liver, and a naturopath recommended that I drink green tea mixed with milk thistle tea 2x per day, and eat more black beans daily to bind to excess hormones and flush them out. She also suggested I start drinking zeolite powder daily, followed by 1.5L of water, and OH MY LORD has that been INCREDIBLE. So those are my topical and internal approaches, and I hope by sharing that it could be helpful to you! There are wonderful youtube channels that also talk about how amazing beans are for acne and period issues, and one particular account is run by Unique Hammond, who is a registered nutritionist/dietician. I find carrot oil a bit drying sometimes so I add castor oil to my mix also.

In Europe you wouldn’t get a steroid over the counter for a baby cream, that shocked me tbh.
You can add caster oil to make it more hydrating :), you could also add rosehip, argan, or black seed if you prefer for the omegas in them.

@@alexamuencan u please share your recipe step by step

      @alexamuen 8 місяців тому

@@nickilema1074 sure, I get non nano zinc oxide from Amazon (from a reputable supplier) or a health food store, the same for the organic carrot oil and castor oil.
I mix the carrot oil slowly into the zinc powder with a brush till it gets like a thick whipped cream, add a few drops of the caster oil, that’s it, super simple :).
Depending on the time of the month I can get drier skin, so I tend to add a bit more caster oil when my skin is dry.
I like to apply it on damp clean skin, over rice water is particularly good :).
The mix can separate a bit, but that’s normal, just stir it in again.
I’d keep the oils in the fridge if you’re in a hot climate to keep them fresh.
I also tend to make enough for around a week, again to keep the oils fresh.
I have a small dark blue glass pot I keep it in, but I’ve heard of other people putting the mix in aluminium paint tubes so they can carry it around easier.
Everyone has different skin needs so I’d play around a bit to find the right mix for you.
I personally use carrot seed oil as a base as it’s a “dry” oil so sinks in quickly as doesn’t make you feel “oily”.
Other good oils are Argan, prickly pear, or sea buckthorn (careful as can stain) . It really depends on your particular skin and therapeutic need.
If your using it as a sun screen rather then a bedtime treatment, just make sure your skin is hydrated with a splash of water/toner/moisturiser before you apply the cream and you’ve rubbed it in before applying any make up.
I personally find it’s a good base, looks like my pores have disappeared on my nose 🤣💖.
I mention adding the toner / serum or moisturiser first as the oils should be the last step to hold it in, also carrot oil on its own can be a drying oil (who would have thought 😅).
Anyway good luck in finding the perfect mix for you 🙏🍀🤞.

Do you have any recommendations for people with long-term seborrheic dermatitis/psoriasis (in-office, medication, lifestyle changes)? Ive seen dermatologists years ago who recommended topical Txs (everything from head and shoulders, selsun blue, nizoral, tar based shampoos, salicylic acid shampoos - only some of which relieved some discomfort but unfortunately didnt help the scalp itself). I was on a course of Acutane in my early 20s (scalp issues pre-exist this) for acne, but while i was on the medication, my scalp issues miraculously cleared up entirely (returned about 6 months after, and worse condition). My mum tells me she had similar issues in her teens and had a dermatologist do some sort of light therapy on the scalp that cleared it up. Would love to hear your thoughts or any pointers to treatments would be appreciated

I have this annoying condition too, I scratch so hard that I make myself bleed! I was prescribed a mild steroid leave in for 30 mins lotion then shampoo as normal which helped, but only when I kept it up regularly in between I always use a mild clarifying shampoo with salicylic acid with a silicone scrubby scalp washing brush that I absolutely LOOOVE! and always follow up with your regular conditioner, avoiding the scalp. Hope that helps.. ❤

Has anyone heard of coating your face with Vaseline at bedtime for dry skin?
    I live on Long Island.
Our winters are cold and windy .
I already have normal/Yes dry skin so in the winter, it really takes a beating .
My grandmother used to apply a thin layer of “ petroleum jelly” all over her face when she went to bed. And yes, she slept on her back…
There was a dermatologist on UA-cam, who said It is petroleum that was one of the worst things we can do for our skin .
She stated the reason is because it is petroleum … we are putting toxic chemicals on our face..🫢
Now I don’t know what to do ..

    • @kathyg3353
      @kathyg3353 8 місяців тому

I’ve read that the Vaseline and Petroleum is different in the breakdown of it in Vaseline. I’ve heard you can use Aquafor as well unless you’re allergic to Lanolin then use Vaseline. I use both for under my eyes, my lips and my feet with socks on at night. I don’t use it all over my face because I have combination skin and will wake up a greasy mess 😂 I use a thin layer under my eyes and I pat it on so I’m not pulling at my under eye skin too much since it’s the thinnest in the under eye area.
