- Frank Falbo show the parts of the Liberator Solderless Pickup Change System, and explains in detail our thinking behind the bare-wire lockdown system instead of other types of connectors.
This needs to be promoted more. I never even knew this existed and I’ve been searching for it.
Wow these guys are smart!!! They make changing pickups easier, we'll be tempted to try and buy more pickups, they'll sell more of their stuff.
@SeymourDuncanChannel The 2nd reply is the definition of great news and completely serve the purpose of the product! I can see Liberators in everybody's guitars already ;)
Dunno why I just watched that, I've got it already, it's awesome haha
@hendrix1222 Yes, it has accomodations for 2 humbuckers. You can repurpose any of the wires, except the two grey wires which are hardwired to ground. So you could use it for H/S/S, S/S/S, etc. but you'd have to remember what colors belong where. We'll release a Strat-specific version at some point, until then these can be used.
That. Is. Awesome. I was pretty terrified of changing the pickups in my guitar in case I'd fuck the soldering and ruin shit, but I'm pretty comfortable with this.
TO THE SHOP
@KotowTV Yes "sodder" in the USA.
Previously my green, grey pickup wires were soldered with the ground wires to the volume pot. Where do i solder the same coloured exit wires on the liberator?
damn you're ownin guys xD
I'm still confused...So we still have to solder something or does this system enable us to change pickups and also pickup wiring types without soldering anything once we've the Liberator installed in the place of our regular tone potentiometer? :S
installing 2 of these in my Schecter c1 the question I have is concerning the grounds from the humbuckers as 1 is braided and 1 is not braided and is this internally grounded ?. Basically, is my pickups grounded correctly?
when he explauns the ports above the pickup wire inputs in which order is he explaining them from from the left to right or right to left? assuming the pot s round end is pointing upwards.
i couldn't understand clearly. so will you use the liberator with conventional pickup selector switches? for example i have guitar with two humbuckers and can i use this with a 5 way multipole switch and also add a push-pull pot for coil splitting??? please answer.
Want this for my Str
Do you need the same number of liberators for the same number of pickups in your guitar or can one liberator allow for 3 humbuckers (neck, middle, bridge) to be changed at once?
+Will Smyser You can use 1 Liberator if you have a master volume.
Can you explain the difference in use between the 250K and 500K? I understand ohms and believe it to meen more or less adjustment in the volume. Is that correct?
Would this liberator be totally solderless if I'm planning to use one humbucker and 1 volume pot? Nothing else, no tone pots, no switch, no neck pickup - just one bride pickup and a volume pot... would that be solderless? how would I then connect the input jack?
@Jamisonplague Haha yes its not his fault, it was a long day and I am extremely boring.
@SeymourDuncanChannel How about in a push-pull situation? I want to incorporate a push-pull pot also acting as the volume pot in a Stratocaster. So when I engage the pot, all 3 humbuckers become split. Is it possible to offer this system in a push-pull variety too?
look at the back... it's an esp alexi usa. :D
@SeymourDuncanChannel This is definitely something I'm interested in. My question is, would this work on a guitar with HSS configuration, one volume pot and three on/off switches?
A reply would be awesome!
+Santiago Marquez The Liberator works with HSS setups!
+Seymour Duncan how about with the three On/Off switches?
+Santiago Marquez You can wire them before they hit the Liberator if you want.
@SeymourDuncanChannel are combinations of triple shot + liberator possible?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make a hsh liberator
what if I want to add active pickups???
+dragonslayer 316 The Liberator is for passive pickups only.
@Jamisonplague I sensed more like as he's just about to crack up and trying to maintain himself :P
@Jamisonplague That's what happens when you DON'T send a guitar player to talk about guitar equipment.
Manual? Instructions? Wiring Diagrams?
These come with directions, and there are wiring diagrams on our website: seymourduncan.com under 'support'.
Seymour Duncan It seems like they don't want you to figure out you still need to solder the switches and pots, jack and tremelo. At least toneshapers has solderless pots and switches as well.
Those are already soldered in your guitar.
Seymour Duncan Then you are only talking about using then in an existing guitar? You still need to unsoldered the pots, volume, perhaps replace the wires if they are not long enough. And, as long as I'm doing all this what is the point? Tone shapers gives you everything. it's a real solderless experience.
Frank looks like Robert Deniro...forget about it..
Whoever did the sound design for this video should be fired.
