I know this is just a video for awareness but as a person who supports people experiencing a disability people like that make me so frustrated. They are adults and should be treated like one no matter what. Not long ago I had a wonderful experience where a cashier spoke DIRECTLY to the adult experiencing the disability and not talking to the support worker. I went up to them and brought recognition to them as it warmed my heart getting to experience something so positive like that
I must say Steven is a very talented actor! I love this video because although it’s really reflective of how things are & how people immediately judge people with disabilities, it approaches it with humour while still getting the message across. Well Done I think it’s really effective 👏🏼
I was actually researching and found this video for my project...never did i knew that people only see them with a disability and ignore that they have a personality. Kudos to the team for making this video!
LOVE THIS!! And sadly it’s SO true. I’ve worked for an organization that supports adults with disabilities for over 10 years and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve observed interactions like these.
I really liked this. Great to see a film about learning disability that isn’t earnest or patronising. Raises important issue too of course. God all we want is for people with a learning disability to be treated like anyone else. Good work. Will Davies, Director of Lewisham Speaking Up.
Love it! Stephen what a great actor you are. Proper made me giggle at times. Great awareness video, huge lack of understanding these days. Hopefully its opened people's eyes, Id love to meet you guys...
This is well done. Besides being a comedian/Actor I also support kids with disabilities at Corvallis High School and through Benton County Disabilities Program in Corvallis, Oregon. I will share this and thanks for enjoying a few of my videos. Cheers
Hahaha, man, this is awesome. And I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to have all those "niiice" (i.e., annoying and assumptive) people getting in one's face all the time. I really love the casting and acting, you guys make some really fun and thought provoking videos and I hope you can make more soon!!
I KNOW!!! I have gotten that so much over the years.. my daughter is wonderful, funny and she loves her life so much. She is a great person just the way she is.
As a mother of an adult daughter with Downs I really liked this video. My daughter needs a lot of supports for daily living. But she knows to some extent when people are being condescending to her. :)
I love this! Was instantly hooked! Subbed and loved ❤️ The subject was right on about life as someone w an unseen disability along w children and family w an array of disabilities including Down syndrome this was much appreciated ♥️💪♥️
I don't even have a disability. Sometimes I get treated like that. I have personality disorder. People sometimes confuse it with an intellectual disability.
"Wow, you have bought your own toilet rolls!" I know the chap was acting but how can he say that with a straight face?? haha That is so condescending!!
I worked at a summer camp for kids and adults with IDDs last June, and they showed us this video as an example of how not to treat our clients! Unfortunately, many of the counselors STILL treated our clients like babies, even though many of them were senior citizens!
Tis true though not every adult with a disability has the mind of a child. They are a human being first and don't like it when people talk about them in front of them like their not their. Most do understand what your saying.
3:04 I feel attacked for some reason . The employee in movie theater. When the guy brought the movie ticket for 7 pounds. Then he give her 10 pounds. The employee was counting down the 3 pounds to a little kids instead of a adult. Ps I have a intellectual disability.
I do some work supporting autistic people and when I say that I get comments similar to the "such an angel one" - then I share I'm autistic myself and then they quickly try and backtrack their benevolent ableism. 🤣
Doesn’t only happen to people with disabilities. When a white person speaks an Asian language in Asia, we congratulate him just until when we find out he smokes weeds.
How do you know he doesn't work and pay into the system.🤬Someone said further up he's an actor so I'm guessing he gets paid and he's entitled to support to live his life like an average person. 🙄🤔

I've worked as a Universal Direct Support Professional since November 2021 and this video was shown in my orientation class. I loved it!
Thank you!

Same i love when he says "fuck's sake" LOL
@@xTsBeast I think Steven knows what's best for himself! Isn't your reaction a little similar to the guy at 1:10 who gets mad when he curses?:)
@@AvitalShtapwas just about to say that lmfao

People will mental and/or physical disabilities can do a lot more than people think. They need our love, patience, and encouragement.

As someone with a disgusting sense. I genuinely enjoyed this. Really cool message.
What a powerful video. Bravo. Bravo
Love this so very much!!!! Sharing with others as it has great lessons to learn.

Great To see it!!!
Loved this... would it be possible to get it with subtitles?
It has subtitles - you have to engage them. Click the cog/settings function on the video.
"Wow, you have bought your own toilet rolls!" I know the chap was acting but how can he say that with a straight face?? haha That is so condescending!!
Not easily!
Brilliant!
Love this short film - especially the swearing...
:)
Loved it!
That was awesome!
Omg Steven you’re terrific!
Steven is the best actor in this video
It looks like his guest for the Rocketman movie was Elton John, himself. Was that intentional?
Well spotted.
We love this excellent !!
Very true, just bc someone has a disability doesn’t mean they should be treated like they don’t understand things.
" I got toilet rolls " 😅🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂
I worked at a summer camp for kids and adults with IDDs last June, and they showed us this video as an example of how not to treat our clients! Unfortunately, many of the counselors STILL treated our clients like babies, even though many of them were senior citizens!
Ugh - sorry to hear that
Dam this is me an my friends life at time

That made me so happy
Love You Steven❤

I felt this so hard. 😂😂😂😂
he is special
he is unique

I hate when people make assumptions
My cousin has got DS and I swear to god I’d get so mad if I actually witnessed people being so condescending to him like this
i am 20 now i have autism and special needs me
everyone is different

hi
I have seen this type of behaviour so many times, in my life.
I disagree so much
Who buys shopping before they go to the cinema😂😂
Only if we're taking our own nibbles in.😂😂😂
Yeah and they didn't even buy nibbles.

This could have been a weekend day. He may work and earn his own money which should be spent on whatever he chooses.
