Jim Richards is the one who could have done what SVG has. When The Thunderdome ran in Oz , Jim was the best and his exploits in touring cars are stuff of legend. When Brock ran in teams that weren’t controlled by him , JR blitzed him

Just Remembering 2 Scotts, SVG, Casidy, Evans Brothers, Liam Lawson and probably forgot others are all New Zealanders. SVG has done Rally,and dirt oval speedway, not forgetting a New Zealand RC car racer also.

Thanks Josh remembering Scottie Mac, just blew the Indy500 track record apart, although not leading the IndyCar series atm, has the most laps led this year 155 laps to nearest Dixon on 90, maybe he should be leading that series going on that....Kostecki could be a beast in Nascar and Brown too....And Will Power is a legend still as passionate as ever.
Don't forget Marcus Armstrong, he's starting to show his talent.

will brown didn't have mechanical issues, he had ESC issues with the onboard computer, also NASCAR hands out the ESC out to the team so no one can mess with then. The computer was only letting the engine run only at 70-75%.. cam waters driving for RFK racing got catch up in that big wreck in the hairpin but he also was holding his own with the nascar driver.
You guys are underestimating how hard it will be for SVG to transition to racing on ovals
I am not saying you are wrong merely asking why you say that, Scott McLaughlin has adopted to ovals in Indycar what is the difference with NASCAR? Interested in your learning from your better experience.
@@MrCarrera28the difference is in Indy car they are racing road racers on ovals not the best oval drivers in the world. Not to mention they only run 5 ovals a year counting Indy. You cannot remotely compare a Indy car to a xfinity or cup car. How many career starts does SVG have on a road/ street course compared to any NASCAR driver. How many career starts do CUP drivers have on ovals compared to SVG. Those are your differences. Not to mention SVG is running in the B league full time not at the top level of NASCAR.

American's need to understand,SVG has raced all manor of vehicle's around the World.from open wheeler's,tin tops,GT3s Rally car's,give him a year or so,and see how the HN fan's change their views on this guy,

@@ylilycam I don’t think us kiwis really mind thanking aus when we’ve had 2 guys run your series for 5 years in a row up until last year, end of the day it’s still a NZ flag on their cars and a kiwi on their helmet😂. And in this case, I think you can thank the kiwi bloke for even putting the spotlight on the Australians. if it wasn’t for SVG and him going out there and winning his debut, I doubt NASCAR would even give a crap about Supercars lol

All Australian and New Zealand Drivers need to 'learn' Ovals.
That form of Racing is so different. When they do learn, then their ability to be at the Front will increase dramatically. 🇦🇺

SVG also had mechanical issues at Indy Road Course, Brodie Kostecki had a mechanical issue and was sent to the back of the field in a backup car at indy as well. Will Brown had electrical issues while in tenth at Sonoma. Cam Waters gets skittled by Josh Berry while in 13th but on strategy would have been second according to where Chris Buescher ended up. These Supercars guys sure have seemed to have a lot of mechanical issues in nascar since Shane won Chicago. ;)
@gridranking Aussie SVG fan here. Good summary. Of all drivers and tracks, svg and Chicago was the perfect storm and it’s the Larson like car variety that gives him the best chance to represent in nascar. The biggest change is the current generation car familiarity. Reports are in our media today about Kyle Busch possibly running supercars in my home town at the Adelaide 500, a street track closest to Chicago. Arguably our very best drivers from Aus/Nz start in go karts, move to Europe at 13-14 to chase F1.
I think the best way to expose NASCAR Drivers into the Supercars is during g the endurance series of the Supercars. Such as the Great Race the Bathurst 1000, and I'm not sure if they still have the Sanddown 500. With these races the main driver of the Supercars needs a partner, a back up driver to drive with them.

Both drivers were in the v8 supercar series for years and didn't much success until they got in the domanant team at the time
