I been watching nascar, now, going on 18 years with the first race I watched on tv was at Sonoma in 2006. Never, I have I seen a driver drift a stock car at ease like that before. SVG has certainly got my attention, especially seeing him win at Chicago last year.
Keep an eye on him he's a superb driver and as normal and humble as you and me. In New Zealand, we literally run into him at the local shops, and he's as cool as they come.
Yet he can’t figure out how to drive an oval. This will most likely turn out like all the other road course drivers from their respective series that go to NASCAR and his career will probably turn out like the others. Threat at every road course, a few nice runs on ovals.

In the final race for Holden he burnt his tires and rear wheel arches quite well, then he got out of the car while it was still doing a burnout by itself, grabbed the trophy, got back in and proceeded to rip it to more to shreds lol. He once blocked Scott McLaughlin in, hes drifted a Drift spec v8 supercar, hes excellent in rainy conditions. Keep him safe America! Hes still ours 😉

Oh, I dont know about that. In 1979 Peter Brock at the bathurst 1000 (that is a 600 mile sprint race around one of the circuits generally acknowledged as one of the toughest circuits in the world) which Shane van Gisbergen has won three times (Peter Brock won it nine times) started the last lap 6 laps in front of the car in second position. He then went on to set a lap record on the last lap of the race. That is a victory taunt
Technically won it 7 times if you take away the victories where he basically robbed his team mates from a victory by taking their car because his car died. Jim Richards and Brock are tied in my opinion. But you can't really compare eras. The cars are simply alot closer and equal these days compared to back then. It gets harder to win each year.

Although Supercars has penalties for bump and runs, that doesn’t mean there isn’t contact, SVG has gotten away with penalties from punting people off in Supercars cos he knows how to do it within the rules, there’s an overlap rule in Supercars that can make or break the decision to penalise and he’s often been on the good side of that decision so watch him get revenge in nascar, it’s gonna be funny 😂

I think SVG likes the self policing style, hence the move away from the SS style Gestapo stewards in Supercars. If you don't understand what I mean, have a look at the way penalties are dished out for bump and runs, car contact ect.

I've seen payback come 2 or 3 years later before. He did get moved at the Glen though. Took it a little better that time so good to see the team has been working with him on that. That cost SVG the race that he had won had he not been plowed. Then at Sonoma hill drove into that turn all the way to the bottom like SVG wasn’t there. Now I don’t blame hill for that. Hills only shot to win was hope SVG slowed and backed down and let Hill have the corner even tho SVG had 3/4 of the car along side Hill. Even then it would have took something bad happening to SVG because Shane was 2 seconds a lap faster than Hill. So Hill flipping the bird and acting a fool when Hill had been in the wrong on every run in they’d had, which is typical Austin Hill, really cost him this time. He had to drive the entire length of the track with SVG drifting and celebrating behind him. You could tell Hill was trying to get away but couldn’t. Shane continued to drive up behind him sideways smoking tires. It’s the best moment in racing in 2024 without a doubt. I was losing it the whole time. SVG is the man

The Nascars are much closer to what he's used to racing in Australia, you guys will soon find out, if you aren't smart enough to work it out already. Check his previous racing history, drifting, Lemans, Porsche cup, Rally, Carting, speedway, V8 supercars, he's won at ALL OF THEM.... He's a once in a generation driver ....
