Oooooh my goodness, thank you sooooo much for this tutorial. I was about to give up on the image, I followed step by step and finally did my project as I wanted. Great tutorial for someone who just started using cricut design space.
This was an amazing teaching tutorial. I followed along slowly as I had Design space open and went step by step with you. I learned so much and appreciate you taking the time and sharing.
I’m new to this, I got a Joy a few weeks ago and I’ve really only done cards. I’ve wanted to know how to make clip art into a SVG. This will help, can I do this on my iPad?
Yes this should work on an iPad. This tutorial works best for different colored images. I also have tutorial that is for one colored image making clip art into an svg. Hope this helps!
I learned so much from this. Not just the given topic, but since I'm new to the Cricut world, a lot of things kind of unblurred for me (if that makes sense) 😉 Thank you for the video!
Yes it should. This tutorial basically shows you how to manually create layers in cricut design space. So any machine that can cut it should work using this method.
Hi. Thank you. I ha e a question 🙋🏼♀️ why do you need to color on design space if the color is your vinyl? ( I’m new ) could you just cut the outline with out all the coloring ?
Yes you can just cut the outline but if you want to have a colored image not just the outline this is how you can do that. The problem is you have to tell design space what parts you want a different color. If you have just an all red image but you want some parts black you have to identify what parts you want a separate color or else the cricut will cut everything the color of vinyl (for example) that you put in there. I hope that makes sense!?
What type of device are you using? Some options are not available on a smartphone over a computer. That may be the issue but not positive. Let me know! I will try to look into it
Thank you for your tutorial , really enjoyed it and it was really easy to follow. I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s on my list for tomorrow. Thanks again
Excellent step by step. Question: Could I , once I slice my dinosaur just duplicate then contour, hide all. then just click on what I want? Also I learned that if you move your image all the way to the left of DS you can see what's happening to your image while on the contour feature. Thanks!
Yes I did cut each color separately. But there is a way to cut one time using smaller pieces of you material. It can be a little tricky getting everything lined us just right.
If you image doesn't have lines and you can't find one that does. You can try to just slice and contour the areas that you want one color. Or what I do with some images is just erase all but one color then repeat with each additional color and piece them together. If that makes sense?
Q: At the end you say, ‘Now just print.’ Did you mean cut? I’m a total newbie; but cricut’s don’t actually print, do they? They just cut. Right? Thx. 😊
Yes they do not print. They can cut sticker you print off you me printer but can't print. Glad you checked! That would be pretty nice of it did! Have a great day and thank you for taking the time to comment.
hi, if you want to move the back layer, click on the layer on the right and use your arrow buttons on your key board to move the layer, then you do not need to move the front layer
I followed up to the point of saving the file to a svg, but after that you lost me. I wish you could have used a simpler image. I'm still a newbie with the software.
I made the image layered with different colors all on Cricut design space. I just found an outlined image and uploaded it into design space. Please let me know if you have any more questions!
This part near the end you do things but don’t explain what you’re doing just before you write do you group everything in the pictures or not do you weld or not? It’s not very clear?!
No you do not want to group or weld these together. It will change all the colors to one single one. You can "Attach" if you are using vinyl and want to layer it perfectly on top of each other. Otherwise I would just cut without doing anything. Sorry for the confusion
Yes I agree. They have probably gotten better but when I made this video they did not convert the image well into a workable SVG. This method is helpful in some circumstances. Thank you for taking the time to comment!
My lines are not dark thick lines and I used the very same dinosaur file. They are very light with gaps even though I am very careful when deleting the colors. There are small gaps that affect being able to contour the hearts out. Why is this happening? Also, you go too fast. I can hear a lot of clicking and you say do this but you need to show where that is that you are clicking.
Change you color tolerance. Adjust the level up or down depending on how thick or thin you want them. In most cases the lower the color tolerance the thicker the lines will be. I am sorry that I am going so fast. Thank you for the feedback and taking time to comment. I hope that helps solve your problem. I will keep that in mind for future videos
You need to delete the music so we can hear what your saying. Other then that I think it was a good video. It’s kinda long tho. Is there another quick way to do this?
Thank you taking the time to comment. I have tried to delete the music but I am unable to on the video. I have fixed the issue in my other videos. If you are making layers in cricut design space I am not aware of a faster way. It does get easier the more you do it using shapes and contour. It has taken me time to get faster at it.
@@kristenscricutcorner2258 I just replayed your tut a few times , i got it :) That was the only one that i had a hard time hearing and it was towards the end. I love all your videos , you do a good job explaining thank you for taking the time out and making them.

Does this picture upload work with any Cricut machine? I want to use stained glass patterns and cut them out of fabric.
Yes it should. This tutorial basically shows you how to manually create layers in cricut design space. So any machine that can cut it should work using this method.
Thank for the simplicity and step by step

do you have to do the color? can you leave it black and white?
Yes you can leave it black and white. I used colors to make it easier to see the different layers. Thank you for taking the time to comment!

just duplicate then contour, hide all. then just click on what I want? Also I learned that if you move your image all the way to the left of DS you can see what's happening to your image while on the contour feature. Thanks!
Yes that should work so you don't have to keep pulling up new shapes. Then you can just change the color of each accordingly!
Wow! that is a lot of work. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to comment! I hope it helps
So how do you print this? Do you switch the colors of the material for each piece ?…
Yes I did cut each color separately. But there is a way to cut one time using smaller pieces of you material. It can be a little tricky getting everything lined us just right.
What happens if you do not have lines once you remove the color?
If you image doesn't have lines and you can't find one that does. You can try to just slice and contour the areas that you want one color. Or what I do with some images is just erase all but one color then repeat with each additional color and piece them together. If that makes sense?
I tried this and from my Mac computer it would not allowed me to download 😢

You need to do a very simple design for us that has never used a cricut before.

Hi do you need a subscription to cricut design please thanks
No but you are limited on certain features and using their images/projects. Now they have limited how many projects you can save at a time. I have found ways around all of this so I personally don't subscribe.
It's time for schools to sell parents their over priced cheap Every Child Matters clothes
So want to make my own for my kids
OK
I got the design
Problem is the design is in the color Orange
Useless seeing as I will print this design on a orange hoodie
Orange hoodie - with Orange design no one will see the design right
And what's the point to print this on say a blue shirt, it's called orange tee-shirt day
Open to your suggestions everyone included Thanks all
Maybe try to use offset and just have a thin outline of your lettering with black or white so you can see it?
