Turn a Photo into an SVG for FREE and cut on your Cricut

- This is part 2 of my SVG series for your Cricut! This is a simple 3 step tutorial using two websites and Cricut Design Space. The first is remove.bg to remove background the second site is picsvg.com. I played around with the settings and found the best fit for my image. Then I uploaded the image into Cricut Design Space and cleaned up the image hiding the extra details in the layers side. Then I printed it, and carefully weeded it. Lastly, I prepped the water bottle I was putting this on and applied the vinyl to my water bottle.

The water bottle came from Dollar Tree

what wed are there to help
Thank you so much! This was extremely helpful.
Your welcome! Thank you for taking the time to comment. I am glad that you found this helpful!
This is great! Very helpful! Any ideas on how to make it in layers to add a couple extra colors? I'm doing a yorkie!
Yes! You can duplicate the image how many colors you want. Change the color for each duplicated image. Then click on the contour button on the bottom of the screen and hide the parts you don't want that particular color. In the beginning of this tutorial it shows what I mean. Good luck! ua-cam.com/video/P45EApYhYgQ/v-deo.html
Thank you that help a lot
Thank you for taking the time to comment! Glad it was helpful
use what pressure when cutting pic with such great details?
Depends on what material you are using. I will tell you that the more metallic vinyl causes me great trouble. Most other materials work fine for me. I love using washi setting and adjust the cutting depth for detailed images. I have the most success with that! Happy crafting
would this work with the foil transfer kit?
Oh great question ! I think it would depend what on the image and see what it would look like when you change the cut setting to foil. Some may come out great others may not. Thank you for taking time to comment
I did everything you did, but I don't see weld. I am not sure why. I clicked on attached, but can't print it either.
Hmmm. They have recently changed the settings but weld is still available but they added a few other options under the combine. I hope that helps!
I use that same tool for weeding. Makes it easier.
I love that weeding tool too! I have some cricut ones they don't seem to work as well!
@@kristenscricutcorner2258 I have to agree. These ones are thin enough to get under the vinyl without even having to work at it. Bought multiple packages of these. Can’t go wrong for the price either.
which weeding tool is this? thank you
@@rikoavalos2633 it’s not actually a weeding tool. I forget what they are called. But it’s from the dollar tree. They are pink and u get 2 in a pack.
Tape the vinyl to a glass table with a bright light under or get a light table as weeding intricate details is so much easier…
Great tip! Thank you for taking the time to comment!
So Helpful! but for some reason its not allowing me to open once in cameo 4! do you have any idea why that would be?
This tutorial is for Cricut machines. I am not sure what file type it needs to be for a Cameo 4. Sorry so can't be any more help! Thank you for taking the time to comment!
Great video very helpful
Thank you so much. I am glad it helped!
Couldn't you remove the back round in cricut
I am not quite sure what you mean. Are you asking about removing the background in cricut design space? Depending on the image you can remove it in design space but can be more complicated to get the borders correct.
Have you done portraits of people
I did make shadow box memorial of my grandpa after he passed. It turned out similar and worked with the same method!
Nice thank you but wondering is a special vinyl or how long it last on that tumbler??
I used permanent vinyl. The problem with vinyl especially when cut very thin it doesn't have enough adhesive to last a long time. You have to hand wash. It is important to let cure (don't use or get wet for at least 3 days). One way to make it permanent is to epoxy over. Over time pretty much any vinyl will peel.
Hi there my vinyl is not sticking to the acrylic in using. What can I do?
What kind of acrylic are you using? I would suggest trying to clean the surface first with rubbing alcohol to make sure there is no oil on the surface. Press the vinyl down really well with your fingers and scraper before trying to remove the transfer tape. Then fold back your transfer tape as you remove it so you can use your nail to hold down the vinyl edge as you remove the transfer tape. Let me know a little more details and I can try to help further!
Can this be done on cricut joy?
I believe so. I do not have a joy but it should be able to cut the vinyl. Just as long as the image isn't to big.
Wow! Thank you!
Your welcome, Glad it was helpful! Thank you for taking the time to comment! Have a great day!
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! GREAT VIDEOS
Thank you for your kind comments! Glad it was helpful!
I am SO new to this but how in the world do I get my cricut to cut the vinyl to size like you did? I can't seem to figure out how to get it to cut a square around my picture so I am not doing it manually afterward.
I will tell you this was a nightmare to weed. The least amount of detail in the image the better and less of a headache. This took me well over an hour to weed and several tries at cutting it. To get the rectangle around it just use the shape and lay it over your image and hit the attach button on the bottom next to weld. That will cut the rectangle! Thank you for taking the time to comment! Hope this helps
What kind of vinyl is this?
I used permanent vinyl on this project.
thank you so much
You're welcome and thank you for taking the time to comment!
Hi can i know if i tranfer my png with transparent (with color ) into pics svg . Its that possible ? With color?
I am pretty sure that you would have to manually color each section. You could try to convert the image then try to layer using this technique in this video. ua-cam.com/video/PALzolGdinI/v-deo.html
Thank you for taking the time to comment! Hope that helps
❤ thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊! Thank you for taking the time to comment! Happy crafting
What type and brand of vinyl did you use you didnt mention?
There is a link in the description on the vinyl I used for this. I like this brand vinyl and also like oracle 651! Here is the link if interested. JANDJPACKAGING Heat Transfer... www.amazon.com/dp/B07L917D7Q?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Luv ur tutorials do u have a blog?
Thank you so much! I have a facebook page at the moment it is facebook.com/KristensCraftyPage
I’m unable to download my image. Is it because I’m using my iPad?
You should still be able to download on you iPad. Maybe it is saving to downloads or files? Try this tutorial I made for phone/iPad to see if that helps. ua-cam.com/video/GGUMrkBsEzw/v-deo.html Thank you for taking the time to comment! Let me know if you are still having trouble.
really helpful video but background music track is too load
I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I wish I could lower the volume but I have corrected the issue in my recent tutorials. I am sorry about that...... I am glad it was helpful!
Pic svg asking for a credit card even though it’s free… what to do?
Looking into it
Thank you!!!!
So glad this was helpful! Thank you for taking the time to comment! Happy Holidays!
Why remove background?
You would only remove the background if
You didn't want it part of the image. Your preference. Thank you for taking the time to comment!
You can remove the background on iPhone. Just long press your dog
That is a more recent update on the phone! That feature makes things so much quicker than when I made this video tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to comment and sharing that tip!!!
Bhackground music is distracting. Thank you for sharing
ı love you stranger thank you
Your welcome! I am glad you found it helpful. Thank you for taking the time to comment
Good instructions but music was very distracting
I am sorry about the music. I can't change it down. I have been very mindful in my future videos to volume down significantly. Thank you for your input and taking the time to comment!
The “free” svg converter website asks for your credit card…that’s kind of sketch…
Must be an update...... darn I will have to look to see if there are better free options not requiring credit cards. They definitely didn't require one when I did this project. Thank you for letting me know
Go further down the screen, it's free, I thought the same
Video was OK but the music was not.
Yes. I apologize. I am not able to fix that for this video but have made sure in my future videos to keep volume lower. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
@@kristenscricutcorner2258 I would eliminate the music all together. I don't think instructional videos need music.

I am trying to make tee shirts for the dog rescue I support for them to sell to help raise money. They have a certain log go that needs to go on the shirt n I only have a pic of the log go. I’ve asked so many people to please help me learn to do this so I can help the fur babies out. Every Cricut group I’m in I’ve asked for help however haven’t gotten a response. I’m disabled 63 yr old lady that wants to help out out mistreated fur babies. I won’t be making any money from these. I just want to do what I can. If you have the time maybe you can respond to this. Thank you
I am happy to try and help. Please visit my Facebook page and message me with the photo you are trying to convert. m.facebook.com/KristensCraftyPage/. Thank you!
Good video overall, but too bad you make the mistake that many videos do of playing the music in the background so damn loud that we can't hear your voice very well. Too bad. ☹️
Thank you for taking the time to comment. Yes I am aware the music is too loud and I am sorry about that. Unfortunately UA-cam doesn't allow me to change it after it was published so I am stuck with this one. I have been very mindful since then to keep the music barely audible. I appreciate your feedback!
@@kristenscricutcorner2258 And I thank you for your reply to my comment. I know nothing about UA-cam posting, I just thought maybe you could pull the video down, re-edit the video to decrease the music and then repost it again, but apparently that's not the case. Thanks again and have a great day!
Thank you so much, exactly what I was looking for, however the background music is so annoying, hard to follow you.
Thank you for the feedback! I have made sure to fix this issue in future videos. I unfortunately can't fix it for this specific video. I appreciate the feedback!
cute little girl
Thank you! Have a great day!
The music in the background makes it very hard to focus on what you are teaching. I do like it though, but dump the music.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. Yes I am aware of the loud music, unfortunately I can't fix it for this video. I have made sure my future videos are better. Thank you again!
Amazing video, annoying background music.
I apologize for the music. It was too late to change it when I realized how overpowering it was. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Oh my gosh. I have never made a negative comment until now. First, I love your style, voice, direction, and I appreciate your info ... but that loud music is horrendous. I'm sorry, but just be yourself!
Thank you for commenting. Yes I realized this too late and can't change the volume. I appreciate you taking the time to comment!
