- Journey - Wheel In The Sky 1980
Winter is here, again, Oh Lord
Haven't been home in a year or more
I hope she holds on a little longer
Sent a letter on a long summer day
Made of silver, not of clay
Ooh I've been runnin' down this dusty road
The wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
I've been trying to make it home
Got to make it, before to long
Ooh, I can't take this very much longer, no
I'm stranded, in the sleet and rain
Don't think I'm ever gonna make it home again
The Mornin' sun is risin'
It's kissin' the day
Oh, the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
Wohohohohohohoh For tomorrow
(Instrumental)
Oh the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
Ooh I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps me yernin'
Ooh I don't know I don't know
Oh the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin
Ooh I Don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Wheel in the sky keeps turnin'
Ooh I don't know I don't know I don't knowohoh
Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
Don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Ooh the wheel in the ske keeps on turnin
Wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'
Best male vocalist ever
Looking at Steve here I can't help but wonder how his dad could just walk away from him and his mother. He seems like such a nice man . I am so glad his mother encouraged her baby boy to keep on singing. I hate to say it but his dad seemed to be a terrible man. Leaving Steve must have broken his heart. I hope he apologized to his beautiful son. Steve never talks about him much. I believe the pain is too much for him.
@@slamecatzwell5544 Steve's dad is most likely regretting leaving him now
@@mrzoqo his dad has been dead for years. I hope Steve would write a book and let his fans know more about his life. I find him to be very attractive and fascinating.
Most definitely!!❤
Actually….. it’s true. Steve IS the best all around rock singer and front man.
Steve Perry has such an amazing voice… Nobody will ever replace him!!!!
Arnel Pineda is the best!!
He's not even singing here.
He is a tribute singer at best.
Nobody can replace him. Except of arnel pineda...
Arnel sucks hind tits, idiots..
These people have no idea they are in the presence of greatness and a historical legendary song !!
How is the audience so calm and chill?? I’d be singing and jumping! I absolutely LOVE journey
Probably because they’re watching the band pantomime to the original backing track
@@Fakename70 Yeah, this isn't real at all. There's actual live performances on UA-cam.
They respect their ears...
Incredible song. There will never be another Steve Perry!
Best voice in rock history!
A masterpiece of songwriting, sung by the most angelic voice in rock. So beautiful.
. . . And this - ladies and gentlemen, is why I miss the 1970s, rock on.
The golden era. Very blessed to be brought up then
ME TOO! It was tough at times but one thing You could count on was the Awsum Rare Music. Every Friday night I looked forward to Wolfman Jack's BATTLE OF THE RECORDS Yep! Steve is one of a Find
Me to , And look at that 70s hair 80s my DONKEY
There is no one with a voice like Steve Perry. This is one of my favorites of his early days with Journey.
Perry's voice and Neal's guitar playing makes an almost spiritual connection. We all took it for granted then. Never realized what a really rare talent we were blessed to witness. When he does the silent scream......OMG....gives chill bumps every time I hear it....what a guy......BTW.....he is sooooo FINE too!!!!
Donna Blanchard I wish they didn’t always lower the volume on that
Steve was gifted from the Gods to us, truly believe that.
Donna Blanchard Exactly... well said!
I didn't know that was called the silent scream but it is unbelievable.
I agree
Epic voice on Steve Perry. One of the greatest.
You got that right
Not one of the best, but The Greatest
Steve Perry is the BEST singer ever!!!! Fantastic voice and a range that can't be duplicated! There aren't enough adjectives in the dictionary to describe Steve and his abilities!!!
Journey is the most captivating band. High vibrational and melancholy at the same time.
Steve Perry. Damn. Just damn. Incredible.
Steve Perry is so, so good. What a voice.
The one and only voice of journey.
I agree!!
@@donnaperagine3924 I agree too the band just isnt the same without his voice
I could have stood 10, 20, 30, 40, more years of this amazing voice.
Geez, now those are what I call VOCALS!
Andrea Altgayer its not livee
Andrea Altgayer you and me both
@@NicoCovers99 no this isn't live, but his live performances are even more amazing. He puts more into his live performances. It's good to see him get a chance to rest those vocals sometime.
@@NicoCovers99 Steve is even.better live than in the studio.
@@marshabailey772 yepp he is the best live
In the 70's I considered Journey too "pop"...too slick. Now, I realize Perry's voice is the best that ever sang rock. Neil Schon was playing with Santana when he was 16 years old. His guitar playing is awesome. The band together are incredible. I wish I'd heard "Mother, Father" in 1980.
I'm obsessed with Steve Perry.
Katrina Leasure ure not alone
To bad he's not obsessed with you...lol
God me too!
This sounds so amazing live! I mean this guy had no flaws singing acoustic.
Amazing live.
Amazing to watch
Amazing to look at
Amazing. Loved this band since forever. And still Do !!
Love this Song
Anthony Becerra Pretty sure this was a lip sync. Shows like this had the artists lip syncing to the recording back then. Hence the fade out of the song at the end.
@@skinsguy34 correct
@@skinsguy34 saw three renditions live. Pretty sure it was just as great or better :)
@@skinsguy34 it sounds way to much like the original recording so yeah
Steve Perry is the greatest voice in music period
Robert Plant disapproves of this message.
True that !!
@@Sarasdad91 nah I like Steve more
Rob Halford, your table is ready.
@@Sarasdad91 Also great. Both different types of music. Roberts voice was like an instrument. One of a kind. Best hard rock voice and Steve's is the best rock ballad ever.
they are so different his voice is so amazing no one will ever sound like Steve Perry nothing compares to Journey
Perry's voice behind Schon's solo is beautiful
To me Steve Perry, was the best singer for Journey. His range of voice is beautiful.❤
steve perry is the greatest singer i ever knew.because his voice is flexible and awesome ,and no one can compare of his high range to sing with a perfect clean range of more f5 or g#5 without struggle.what a great tenor is steve perry.
yea
Youll never believe this. But i could sing real close to the way he does. He is my idol. I tried to make it as a singer but i quit in the hard times and gave up. Something i regret with my whole being till the day and after i am dead. i messed up. Regret is terrible to live with.
There is One Better Frankie Valli Steve in His Prime 78-88 Very Close
Absolutely some amazing singers/singer songwriters to come out of the 70's! ..Fogelberg, Perry, McCartney, Joel, Hall, Cetera,..to name a few
Dickinson Halford....
Webster's Dictionary -- Steve Perry -- Definition -- Extremely talented pop singer who used to head up the San Francisco band Journey taking them to financial and success no one had ever dreamed. Then after around 10 years quit due to his mother's ill health and his own hip replacement. Did some successful solo work in 1994 and did not perform again until 20 years later in 2014. He has all the cash he needs and the voice to prove it but what does he have to prove? He stands on his own two legendary feet and no amount of public pressure or pleading is going to force him or change his mind. Bravo Steve!.
Very well said. I totally agree.
Thank you Anne for your commentary - took care of my mother for 6 years - The most heart breaking but also the most rewarding years that I can remember - It does take courage.
Anne Belk he is back
Brand new album Oct5th
Now all 80’s are coming out of the wood work because he did! Taylor Dayne , i recently heard Pat Benatar, many others as well. Steve is the brave icon. Always in my heart
Hes amazing singer . i wont see Journey without him
Me either
Steve Perry = Sweetness.
Love his voice
Love his looks
Love his body
Love journey
Love. Love. Love. This Song !

How are all of those people just sitting there and not ripping-their-clothes-off dancing and losing their shit?! I almost broke my turn signal lever listening to this in my car with fists of joy.
Brooke Maki they didn't have a clue who they were listening to.
Cause back than they had more respect for them selves and for the band!
Lol...hot!
"We are....Germans. We will have...order."
No shit. I couldn't sit still for one second with The Voice singing right in front of me.! Smh
Yessirrrrrrrr!!!! My boy is singing like a beautiful canary.
I get chills every time I watch him hit that high note , Steve you are AWESOME!!
He was sexy in that video
So thankful he never gave up on singing. The world is a much better place with his voice, then and now.
Never realized what a rare talent we were blessed to witness. Steve Perry was and still is an AMAZING singer.... so much talent...passion, emotion and sincerity conveyed in his performances....with a VOICE from the Heavens!!!! Steve vocals on this song gives me chill bumps.....
Then you've never realized Perry was, in his own words, was just copying Sam Cooke.
Donna Blanchard you mean goosebumps
Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!omg...steve. dam.... that hair those pants oh my God that voice the list is endless
P.s the print in the front oh my God
Great voice iconic
Journey is an awesome group 🎉. Their music 🎶 🎵 was really a big part of my youth and I'm loving it ❤️ ♥️. They don't make music like this anymore 🎉🎉
If there is such a thing as perfection...this may be it ...a taste of it......
Nothing like the 80s. The best men the best tunes.
The song is from ‘78, though
I watched this video every day..can't get enough of Steve Perry..So gorgeous/lovely voice..
Nobody tops Steve Perry he's the best
The mixed smooth tone with hints of rasp is it for me, never heard such a pleasant voice in a male singer. Steve is the best.
Steve is a gift to this world, he knew he had the voice too he embraced it and showed off in a good way🔥😎
Will never be a band and voice like Steve Perry. Journey is a spiritual experience... This official Wheel in the Sky 1980 video is one of my favorites... There are so many...
Like Heaven to my ears....there is no comparison. He is the best male vocalist of all time!
Steve Perry is so totally awesome. He will forever be the VOICE of Journey.
Get goosebumps when I hear Steve sings this song. With his sexy self and love the voice. Even at the age of 73 ,he still got it. Love when he did those high notes. That's was coming from his heart.
He sure was sexy!!
The very best Journey right there!
"Winter is here again Oh Lord".... Great intro with his fantastic voice.
Steve Perry has always had my heart. God I love him.
The best thing about his voice is that he keeps it consistent to the studio recording. He is one mindful artist.
That’s because it is the studio recording
@@Fakename70 Yep. Very few music television performances were live back in the 70s and 80s, most were mimed in order to save time and money (moving of equipment, sound checks, and more). Exceptions included programs like The Midnite Special ... that was usually the real deal in which bands actually played and sang.
@@eduardo_corrochio
I’d disagree with your claim that “very few” were live in the 1970’s. But, the pantomiming really took hold in the following decade.
How’s Elaine?
@@Fakename70 One show that came to rely on lip-sync (or did it do that its entire run?) was American Bandstand. Sometimes a band would be on screen with a guitar, lead singer, and drums ... but we'd be hearing the studio track complete with piano, some strings, cowbell, and more. :D I recall watching snippets of that show on weekends in my childhood-- Blondie, Wall of Voodoo, etc.
Elaine Benes? Oh, yes. The odd dancer. Haven't thought about her in some time.
@@eduardo_corrochio
The number 70 in my username indicates my year of birth. You’re not responding to someone who doesn’t have memories of watching the shows you’re describing.
This was their best song and best album as well as line up.Period.
IF THIS IS LIVE AND I BELIEVE IT IS THEN THIS IS RIDICULOUSLY PHENOMENAL. THAT'S THE END THE DISCUSSION.
There are sooooo many cool Journey songs beside Faithfully and Don't stop believing ! And this is one of them !
The VOICE...Omg...
I love Steve's outfit. :]
Eliza Britton he looks like GGO kirito from sword art online 2
Right I'm in love.
Me 2! ;]
Oh god me too. Hottie with a voice to boot.
Incredible band who were amazing during a magical time! Can't believe I was in elementary school at this time. Loved them then and their songs still never get old. Just great songwriting all around! What a voice and band!
Damn, Steve Perry was hot as hell!♥
The guy in the yellow shirt is scary.
Marina Williams yea he is omg he is so handsome. Love that man.
One sexy man there! Yep 💜
Donna677 yes he is. And he still is at 68 years old. Omg
Pam Lemlet agreed Pam...I'm 52...he still has it! lol
EYE CANDY !!!!!!!! and what a set of pipes !
Hell Yeah !!!👍🏼👍🏼😊
+Sherry Ramirez AMEN! LOL!
GREAT SONG !!!!! Love. Love. Love. This Song & YES he " WAS " man Candy !!
They ALL were in Most bands back then. Some NOT so much candy now !! lol
But yeah this song is A song you can not get tired of this many years later. Can play it over N over Again.
Great choice you have with this song.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Sherry Ramirez Steve Perry is still EYE CANDY as far as I am concerned!!!
That glossy black hair and the voice of an angel...
Steve Perry is so incredible. There are many good singers, but his skill level with that range and crystal clear, clean vocals puts him entirely in a class by himself. As a singer and musician myself, his talent never fails to completely blow me away. Simply amazing.
Can't get any better than this.
1980, I was in first year high school. Thanks to you tube we can see videos of the concerts from before.
He Looks Phenomenal and Sounds Incredible. He is so Blessed and an excellent songwriter too! Nobody can compare to his Talent, Love Steve Perry, can't wait for his new album!
The REAL journey
+6OldSalt62 As a fan of Journey I agree with you
Bullshit ! You apparently never heard their 1st three albums.
@PresidentGas1 He never said the "only" Journey, or "original". I think the band would have faded into obscurity if they hadn't been reborn with Perry. Those first three albums would have been footnotes in the extended history of Santana, and they were good albums, but nothing that really got them noticed.
Thanks for that opinion and I appreciate it. I'd like you to tell me two things though: 1. How old are you and 2. where did you grow up. I grew up in their backyard of the Bay Area and being 56, was alive and well during this original period of Journey. I can tell you without question, they were immensely popular here. It's because of this history I have with the band and the immense enjoyment of their incredibly sophisticated musicianship during those first three albums ... it has always been a thorn in my side them selling out like they did. I get it though ............ at some point as a musician you'd prefer to get paid ......nonetheless it was always a tough sell for me. This typically only surfaces when someone either too young to remember the beginnings or too ignorant of it chimes in and makes a comment like the OP.
I'm 50 and from Chicago and can tell you I never heard of those 3 albums until the *_late 80's_* when I did some research (hard to do pre-internet, but I had a couple books on bands and their album releases). They were available, I found them at local record stores on CD, so they weren't like the first 2 Quiet Riot albums.
I feel like Infinity was a "departure" from the early sound, and the later albums went even further away (I don't even know _what_ Dream After Dream really was, and I bought that one too).
That early material suffered from lack of radio play to be sure. I never heard anything before Infinity on the radio, at least in the Chicago market. I was limited to AM radio in the 70's, so there might have been something on FM. Probably not enough to keep them from changing up the sound with Perry.
So to be fair, this version of Journey is "my" Journey. I like their earlier material. A lot of my favorite bands have early material that isn't quite the same. The very first Doobie Brothers album was quite different from their second album. The first Scorpions album sounds nothing like the Scorpions. The list goes on.
Whouhh, no words!
There's nothing and no one can do music like they did.
I think this is the best line up of Journey.
So damn HOT!! Does it get any better than that? No shirt and that voice!! Love Steve Perry!! Could watch and listen to this over and over....💋
Cindy Ferster tell me something idk and yep awesome
I hate it when people give Journey grief for being too famous. They were pretty much unknown on a national level until this song came out. I clearly remember it was a great sound and unlike anything at the time. It was very dramatic and witchy and cool. Then they just keep going forward and new stuff, blah blah blah but when they came on the scene with this song it was magical. They were one of the rare 70's style groups they were able to cross the bridge into the 80s. Artists like Triumph, Foghat and several others weren't able to sustain interest with the new audiences but Journey did.
Ughh im so jealous of all the people who got to see them perform or attend their concerts 😣😣😣
There is only one Journey, and one Steven Perry period! I love how he sings right over Neal Schons lead!
Me too :)
Yes, that is the moment that amazes. Gifted from the Gods!
Amazing!! I’ve heard this song a million times on the radio and never knew that high note with the guitar was Steve til I found a UA-cam video of the song. Wow!! Amazing!!
Loving, living akways one of the greatest singers & groups!
To think he sang so well in live concert it’s unbelievable! He was that good 👍.
Perfection! I am so fortunate to see such talent!!
YOU CAN WATCH STEVE SING THIS SONG REPEATEDLY OVER HIS TIME WITH JOURNEY AND EACH TIME IT IS SUNG PERFECTLY AND CONSISTENTLY...ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. LIVE OR RECORDED, HE ALWAYS SOUNDS INCREDIBLE! SUCH A POWERFUL AND OUTSTANDING VOICE. AND, IT SEEMS OVER THE YEARS I SEEM TO APPRECIATE IT MORE AND MORE
BEAUTIFUL TO LOOK AT AND BEAUTIFUL TO HEAR! he is the BEST in so many ways, Love him so much! hear his high notes! Amazing
Steve Perry is the one and only Voice!!
That man had a beautiful voice always had a Steve Perry crush 😍😍😘
this song is awesome
My favorite Journey song of all time 👆
Always have been a die hard journey fan went to all their concerts when I lived in Los Angeles but this song reminds me every time of trying to get home to L.A. before my mom died and I made it by 5 days. She did hold on one more day!
Awesome! There's no one like Steve Perry#
Hey guys Journey is nominated for the Rock N Roll hall of fame for 2017 don't forget to vote.. they belong in there it's far overdue .. Love me some Steve and Journey🎶🎶🎶🎶🎸🎸🎸🎸🎹🎹🎹💜💜💜👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥
deborah brzowski I voted for Journey and Pearl Jam.
they deserve it Love you Steve perry💜💓👍👍👍💜💝
deborah brzowski, but it's not Steve and Journey that's getting inducted; it's Arnel and Journey (pseudo-Journey , to me) Steve Perry WAS Journey and they are nothing without him, as far as I'm concerned.
STEVE PERRY HITTING THOSE HIGH NOTES 🎶
Love all the songs he does also good band. Listened to this music for years and still. Beautiful Steve😊
Steve was so attractive many years ago. I wish I can take a time machine to see Steve Perry in year 80's !
昔の芸能人は今のよりマジでカッコ良かった。
Whoooo.!....just fainted...Steve come give me CPR!
Eine der besten Stimmen des Altrock👋🏻😁🥇🍀🍀🍀
God I love this man!!
such a clear voice better than most of 2017 artists
Just listen to the greatest voice of Steve Perry so phenomenal. Truly inspiring
This is the version I'm more familiar with. It continues to leave me speechless.
Man, there are days when I miss good old, solid, heart pounding, hip grinding, life affirming, rock more than I can put into words. I'm literally, rap and hip-hoped clean to death here, to the point I get very, emotional now, when I hear anything of this nature.
I'm one of the countless millions who actually, believed that Rock would NEVER, die. I still, cling to that hope that I was not wrong.
My Old School, Retro, Best. Out.
Love this song. This was my brothers favorite song we played this song at the cemetary when he passed away.
One of a kind POINT BLANK CANT BE DUPLICATED
Esta cancion es fantastica...no me cansare de escucharla la voz de steve es gloriosa. Su voz es unica de lo mejor de lo mejor .
Sizzle, hot damn!
oh boy! the hair! the voice. i love Steve Perry!!!
Is Steve Perry human? Unbelievable vocal range 🥰
no steve ,,,,no journey ! period .
Ditto, a real distaste for an imposter making money that Steve earned.
Seems like you both don’t understand the purpose of music...
No doubt
@CD Smith I see your points and I do accept that for sure! I will say though thanks to the new singers though I was able to witness Journey live. Which to me meant alot for someone who is apart of the younger generation
Arnel is Journey aswell, idiot.
