    The sound of those turbos spooling up as she pulls away from the dock is awful sweet.

      Those are no EMDs but belgian ABC engines, in fact four-stroke, not two-stroke like the EMDs. All their tugs in all the videos run ABC engines.

      @@DigitalLonestarX4600
      I know the sound of the EMDs and, to be fair, they sound somewhat similar. Most likely, because these ABC engines run with up to 1000 rpm. The EMDs run much slower (EDIT: no they don't, but the rest is still true...) but due to the two stroke design with one detonation per crankshaft rotation they sound like they are running double the rpm than they are actually doing.
      Also these big turbos sound similar.
      I will link you videos of his channel where he filmed engine starts of exactly these tug boats and you can clearly see in them that these are ABC engines. It is also mentioned in the video descriptions.

    Running these engines without load is so bad for them so its a matter of start , check vitals and get them under load as soon as possible..

    • @MegaFPVFlyer
      @MegaFPVFlyer 7 років тому +7

      The engines are pre-heated before startup, so they don't need to waste time with a warmup. That's why they leave so fast.
