    Lovely. Haven't slope soared for years, finally got back into proper gliding but I do miss the RC side of it. 😊

    G R E A T !!! With those offshore winds, the ridge lift must have been terrific for that big plane, but too much for the hang gliders who normally fly there.
    Been there many times to Torrey Pines/Black's Beach. Usually the dirt area is PACKED with UCSD students' cars parked there for free. The building in the near background is the very historic Salk Institute, where cutting-edge science is still being conducted.

    Great flight thanks for sharing. I bought a beaten up 4m fox a while ago and have been trying to work out who made it, it has ailerons and brakes like yours with no flaps, but single servo to drive each aileron.

    Fantastic model - wondering why it's sporting the HB-3241 tag as I think this is related to planes located in Switzerland. Anyway, courageous flying, very impressed by the performance of this glider. Some more information would be welcomed ...

    • @sdmoller
      @sdmoller  5 місяців тому +1

      first off he has this sailplane 2nd hand. But I think who ever built it looked a pictures of the full scale and must have seen the HB-3241 and liked it and copied it. We actually had the current owner pop in and say hello. My sailplanes I will some times copy color schemes but usually change the N number to something that is personal to me like my AMA # or my birthday. We can do almost anything we want. I'm from Denmark but my 44% DG-1000 sports the Swiss colors.

    wouldn't you want to fly your big DG1000 at that site sometime?
    she would look so good on the slope.
    probably the landing would be a bit nerve wrecking.

    • @sdmoller
      @sdmoller  6 місяців тому

      Between the three of us we have discussed it. It is almost a bucket list item, but there is one huge problem. The parasails are not the big issue but the landing zone is. The big DG-1000 are 8.8m wing span. My friend Steffen has actually flown his EB-28 there (10m) but it looks smaller. There is one person that has flown a Paritech DG-1000 there at Torrey. I won't mention his name but it was sketch from what I hear. Only the launch that is. Time will tell what happens, and yes it is a dream of ours to fly them there.

    The sound of the ocean would be a treat. The sound of the wind that you got to hear as it blew in your face might 3:09 have been a treat. Turn off the sound track for at least some of the flight. Please ❤

    • @sdmoller
      @sdmoller  6 місяців тому

      I'm experimenting with some new remote microphones to filter out the wind noise. All of my videos have been recorded with the iPhone, except for the drone footage. I go there to fly not really to record as I want to fly and be with the friends. In between my own flights I sometimes pick up my iPhone to record parts of some one's flight and that is how it gets here.

      @@williammoses6460 No problem, I hear and understand what you are saying. I have done a few video's with any music at all and they did not do to well. People only watch the first 5-10 seconds and turn it off. For me as well I'm annoyed by the wind noise, and music is a personal thing. Some will love it, some will just be ok with it and some will hate it. Ultimately I make the videos so that I and my friends it covers can relive it and enjoy it. One of my closest friends uses it to help them relax before they enter into an extreme competitive and stressful event. If I was more serious about these video productions I would have to invest in some serious equipment which could capture it all much better, but I'm there to fly and be together with the friends second is capturing. Just trying to explain myself, hope I didn't go overboard. All good and hope you continue to enjoy. :-)

      I was just discussing this issue the other weekend with some of the senior members of both Gulls and Scale groups. We have two membership groups there. Anyway, we have clearance up to 1,400' above ground from what I was told. And we are also a FRIA site so we do not have to use the new Drone ID.

The wind picked up quite a bit later on 31-35mph and Aaron's Fox really came alive but I think I was too worn out at that time by the wind and didn't capture any more video as I thought I had it. Aaron pointed it out to me yesterday that the second flight was much better. There is a little bit of it in there. It is when I'm recording from the path on my way back from putting my ASH-26 away.

    so how much damage was done on that landing

    • @sdmoller
      @sdmoller  5 місяців тому

      The landing was on the backside of the hill. On windy days like that it’s best to land up on top of the hill to avoid all the turbulence. There was no real damage at all only small chip in his wheel shroud. It’s where there is only resin and no glass from the molding process.
