In a nutshell... for $149 you get an M1 Abrams tank (build quality), with crazy-advanced targeting system ( Motiv Mix Virtual software), powered by a lawnmower engine (sound of the mic - out of the box). . The good news is you can get it to sound good with some help with processing, but it won't sound good without it. It all comes down to what you are looking for in your gaming setup, and what you are willing to do to turn that weakness into a strength (adding some body and fullness back into the tone). I would love to hear YOUR THOUGHTS!
Also just with your comment about the software wanting to fine tune the eq software like steel series sonar will scratch that itch till shure catches up i currently use it for my hyper x quadcast s cos their software is even worse lol
Sweet review!! I like the Shure companion apps for the wide range of options they have! My Shure MVX2U had a similar quirk where if I didn’t lock the app, it would randomly change the gain setting. Other than that it was great!
Great video and thanks for the info. Just purchased one today. Can you give me some insight on which boom arm and connector you use to place the MV6 on? Haven’t found a lot of options on the the web, the way you had your set up looked super clean. Thanks so much.
I was only mildly curious about the mic, but I stuck around for your run-through on the Motiv Mix app, as I use it a lot with that little interface thing I never remember the model number of (MVX-something?). Always enjoy and appreciate your videos.
I honestly don't care for the sound.... it's not bad, and i can't place my finger on why. Maybe cuz it had no real presence or fullness. The software is a huge plus, and i love the visual of the mic.
@@BacktotheRetroReview to me, the more I think about it, cuz I recorded this video a few weeks ago…the mic itself sounds no better than a standard cheap usb mic with great build quality, name brand recognition with a cool app. I feel like the Tonor TC310 is better sounding than this mic. It can sound good, but man does it require a lot of processing to get it there. Gamers mics vs broadcast mics are really two different beasts. No wonder most successful gamers don’t touch them.
Been using this for about a week now and I’ve been enjoying it! On about 50% dark I think it sounds really good on my natural vocal tone. I want to start recording some true crime stuff and this makes me feel a lot more confident in my voice. My only issue so far is discord picking up things like moving my boom arm, setting a glass down on my desk, etc. I have the denoiser and a separate noise gate set up - any other tips to reduce the frequency of the mic picking these up?
Best under $200? I think the best combo of price, performance and build quality is the Sennheiser Profile USB Mic amzn.to/4fl82gO That is a mic that is universally accepted as a great USB mic. The SM7B of usb mics would be the Earthworks Icon USB. Brand new it is $300, but you can get them used on reverb for around $200 - amzn.to/3Ust4Cf

So the mic sounds good but then when I was messing with the settings it seemed like it got lower when I talked so for instance I I play fortnite last night all my stream and it sounded really low to the 4-day settings to see if my microphone was there and I wasn't even in there it's kind of strange before my blue yeti used to show up so I need to put the gain higher or gain lower it sounded good Straight Out of the Box
Blue Yeti user here!! 🙋♂️ I’m considering getting a new mic and things one of my options. Would you say this is an “upgrade” compared to the yeti? Or should I stick to it longer?
@@TuPadrinoSoy I think the fifine k688, AM8, maono Pd400x, and this would be an upgrade. The software with this is insanely good. I would just make sure you adjust the tone of the MV6 to 100% dark to get that good sound

@@kingpaco1 in all honesty, if you buy this, you’re buying the software with an ok sounding mic THAT WILL need to be processed. If you’re not interested in the software there are MUCH better sounding USB mics at half the price, just not the same build quality’s or an Shure app that can add chat, gaming audio, your mic and other resources into a mix in your computer.
@@Cully97218 trust me, the money isn’t in the mic, lol.
