  • The Complete life story of General Grievous will take us to his homeworld of Kalee, see how he grew to be the most powerful Kaleesh warlord, grow to hate the Jedi Order and Republic, while working with the Muun Bankers and Count Dooku, how he became a cyborg, and why Obi-Wan Kenobi was the nemesis that the gods sent challenge him. This Complete life story will incorporate canon and legends as there are no substantial contradictions.

    • @dudearte
      @dudearte 3 роки тому +70

True, but to be fair Legends portrayed Grievous similarly to Canon and still have comic/novel/reference considered him a coward even way before Filoni Wars.
•Legends already had Grievous lost early in the war at the Battle of Nadiem, after the Battle of Hypori.
•Allowed to take his time, fighting a (renegade) Padawan "Flynn Kybo", instead of just killing him.
•Allowed the droids to kill a Abyssinian Jedi rather than killing the Jedi himself.
•Allowed to be saved by MagnaGuards that killed the Jedi, who sneaked up on Grievous. Yet according to the fans, the MagnaGuards aren't allowed to protect Grievous in Canon.
•Most of the Jedi Grievous killed are mostly generic, who aren't even or shown to be powerful, which always bragged by everyone: Daakman Barrek, Sha'a Gi, Tarr Seirr, Zephara'ru'tor, Jmmaar, T'chooka D'oon, B'dard, Kybo Flynn, Soon Baytes, Walden Bridger, Flint Torul, Pablo-Jill and L'lacielo Sageon. Jedi Master Ur-Sema Du, Ki-Adi-Mundi, K'Kruhk, Shaak Ti and Adi Gallia, Mace Windu were the only one considered powerful.
Either way Grievous still portray being competent by Canon, fought and defeated Ki-Adi-Mundi, Obi-Wan Kenobi (stalemated three times until aboard the Negotiator to above Utapau), Adi Gallia, Ahsoka Tano (aboard station to Florrum), Quinlan Vos, Asajj Ventress (19 BBY), Maul, Depa Billaba and Shaak Ti.
Heck, *Canon* did what *Legends* couldn't do:
•During his childhood, Grievous worship the warlords of Kalee.
•Topple nations, murder Legends and killed kings. Decapitated a skilling, and encounter a Wookiee warrior.
•Owned a pet and castle, with a medical droid.
•Explained how his cyborg body work, Grievous's spinal cord carried signals to and from his robotic limbs and body as well as the organs contents of his gutsack, millions of pin-points electrodes stabbed down into his brain from the lining of his helmet, to monitor brain activity and boost nerve signal timings.
      •A Legion named after Grievous.
•Kit Fisto called Grievous, the Separatist's best general.
•Anakin called Grievous "a monster that needed to be stopped." Anakin even skipped sleeping just to search for Grievous.
•Obi-Wan was obsessed capturing Grievous, which led him to ignored getting back safety with Eeth Koth.
•Killed two powerful being (far beyond the Jedi/Sith) Old Daka, and later Mother Talzin.
•killed two skills group warrior; Nightsisters and Mandalorian, which match up of Grievous once being a great warrior himself.
•Underlings work under him such as Kleeve and the Sear brothers.
      •Still remembered by the galaxy.
•The Kalessh mask of Grievous, obtained by Imperial General, and later Dok-Ondar.
•Maul had a Force Vision of Grievous, which is interesting.

@@JaelaOrdo Bruh... you serious? Damn, I sure felt bad for you. 😂
While you're here bragging random bullsh!t, I'm here doing my research, combined all his recent kill, it somewhere more than 15, to be honest at least it not the lowest.
*Helmet Collection 8:* in 22 BBY, Grievous was involved on Geonosis in the Geonosian Stalgasin hive's catacomb where he clashes against "a number of Jedi" and left none Force-sensitive alive, not letting one know his existence.
*Lair of Grievous:* killed Jedi Master Neebo.
*Lair of Grievous:* 9 Padawan, most people are forgetting not all Padawan are the same age as Ahsoka, we saw Padawan Obi-Wan (possibly the age of 25) defeating a Sith Assassin on Naboo.
*Age of Republic:* in 21 BBY, killed a Unidentified Mikkian Jedi and a Unidentified Padawan.
*Completed Vehicle:* in 20 BBY killed Jedi Master Jmmaar.
*Star Wars Lightsabers A Guide to Weapons of the Force (2018):* in 19 BBY killed Jedi Master Roron Corobb taking his lightsaber.
Now it your turn, tell me how many did Dooku, Ventress, Maul and Savage Opress killed in Canon? Because comparing it to Grievous is pretty much unfair for them. 😊
Coward? You mean when Ahsoka didn't take Grievous serious, calling him "Another Tinny" but get herself easily knock out unconscious under one second and fled to the storage room. You mean when Obi-Wan fled twice from Grievous? 1. On the Malevolence and 2. Own his Republic cruiser ship, You mean when the show overhype Ventress being very powerful but yet one-shotted with a single blaster and yet apparently she already unable to fight.

Grievous’s story is actually really sad.. He didn’t chose to be this! He was once a noble warrior who wanted nothing, but to save his people. He was lied to and manipulated both mentally and physically turning him into something unnatural. He lost everything, his lover, his people, his religion, and his memories. He fought in a war that wasn’t his to begin with for the rest of his life and helped the very people who did this to him without even knowing.

*@Omar Baba* Exactly! What do you expect the B1 battle droid are slow, you expect the Republic sit there being patient letting Grievous take his time rescuing his droids? The Republic doesn't give a f-uck about the droid safety, the droid are going to get destroyed either way.
Grievous is still a smart commander, as he put his massive army to good use by overwhelming his opponents on "Dathomir", able to correctly anticipate the Republic's movements during the "Battle of Saleucami", was able to fool the Republic forces during the "Battle of Kamino" with his ships taking heavy casualties, but the only person that could figure out his plan was his rival, during the "Attack on Kenobi's fleets", Grievous was able to destroyed all Kenobi fleets without losing one of his own, during the "Third Battle of Mygeeto" Grievous was able to cut off Depa Billaba escape, using his massive army to good use, having them climb up the tall structure, even in the "Battle on Ord Mantell" a super tactical droid is impressed by Grievous' work.
*Grievous TCW* shown be a better commander than *Admiral Trench* and the show had Grievous shown his strategy and tactics work, what heck this idiotic fool did on-screen? Trench did nothing but loses a lot of battle, first the Battle of Malastare, then the Battle of Christophsis, where he almost died and now the Battle of Anaxes. The only battle where Admiral Trench is victorious was the Battle of Ringo Vinda (by luck). Unlike Trench, Grievous doesn't retrieved help from a tactical droid or from a clone brain analysing the Republic movement.
The show had him win over many battle such as:
*Battle of Abregado* - 22 BBY
*Battle of the Ryndellia system* - 22 BBY
*Battle of Falleen* - 22 BBY
*First Battle of Felucia* - 21 BBY
*Battle near the Arda system* - 21 BBY
*Battle of Patitite Pattuna* - 20 BBY
*Battle of Dathomir* - 20 BBY
      *Attack on Obi-Wan Kenobi's fleet* - 20 BBY
*Battle of Florrum* - 20 BBY
      While outside the show:
*Battle of Haruun Kal* - 19 BBY
*Battle of Zanbar* - 19 BBY
*@Kshatriya* But a Political Dark Lord shouldn't abandoned his own ship, full of expensive droids leaving all his forces behind just because some Jedi is after him. Sure Grievous leave all his droids behind which only happens three/or two times compared to his other battles on-screen. But the main thing is a droid who are given a direct order should shouldn't questions their commander, if they're given a direct orders they are first given.

I always loved the clone wars series, but they definitely nerfed Grevious too much, having said that apparently Lucas arts wouldn’t grant character rights to Dave Filoni unless he made Grevious fit lucas’s vision how he was in episode 3
Edit: they should have just made Grevious a beast in the clone wars or at least 25% more powerful, and stuck with the mace windu chest crush to nerf him for episode 3. He didn’t have to be a killing machine like in the 2003 cartoon, but more powerful than he was in the clone wars. Maybe they should have made him more of a strategic genius kind of threat so differentiate him from the usual force wielders

    • @firetools
      @firetools 2 роки тому +41

Glad someone else realized that the Clone Wars characterization of Grievous is moreso Lucas's idea than Filoni's. There's video on the creation of Grievous with Lucas where he said he always envisioned the character as being something of a Saturday cartoon villain.
My theory is the reason Grievous was such a cool and terrifying character in the 2003 series was because the writers were only given the character design and his main concept, a cyborg that can fight on equal footing with Jedi and even kill them. My guess is Lucas didn't finalize Grievous's personality, but with Episode 3 coming out soon they needed Grievous to appear in the cartoon to begin advertising him. Working with what they got, the team of the 2003 Clone Wars portrayed Grievous as a Jedi killing powerhouse, and near the end of the show they had Mace Windu crush Grievous's chest cavity as a soft reboot so that it would transition into the movie version, and thus the version that would become his Canon portrayal from there onward.

Really, the only SW character I can think of who had this happen to him.
It’s even worse when the backstory was changed for a while for a lame one, at least in this case, the og one was recanonized, but it’s so baffling to see how under the radar this news went considering he is one of the movie characters.
