Such a good character that we sadly don’t get to see enough of on screen

It always makes me sad how little screen time grievous has

Fuck yeah!

I feel his warrior spirit was already gone, to the afterlife. To be with his love. The grievous we know was nothing more than a mechanical monster, couldn’t be classed as a living being no more.
Never really thought I would feel so bad for this guy. Damn his life is tragic.
Yeah, I honestly feel really bad for him. He was just a puppet

The last stand of Mother Talzin, the imprisonment and escape of Maul, the first appearance of Caleb Dume, the battle over Corussant... it would be so good to see it all in the Clone wars series
Yeah, but honestly i’m glad they let some of those cooler bits happen in the comics
@Nathan Jea Yeah, I hear you. Not that clear from only the pronunciation. But in my defense, looking at his life and ending, doom maybe fits him better :D
In any means, I edited for you ;)
@@GreaterGrievobeast55 Yeah, but... Now there is a giant black-hole in the plot of the clone wars for those, who did not read the comics about Maul. First he is begging for Sidius, the next is he is the ruler of Mandalore. Caleb would be important for the Rebels show, to give one look for the audience and the battle of Corussant is already made in a different (but less appreciated) show. It would deserve a normal animation.
We got Caleb in the Bad Batch

Grevious is such a tragic character, his story is incredibly deep and well written, and rewatching the scene where obi finally ends his life, you feel some pity towards him. Minus the fact he’s ended more Jedi than most other characters out there

Grievous is just like the rest of Sidious’s Sith apprentices: tools manipulated to serve his search for power and disposed of in cruel fates when no longer needed
He wasn't a Sith. Sith can use the Force, and he can't.
@@mikeor- ....Yes, I know that. I meant that he was used like Sidious’s Sith apprentices 😑
I think Sidious was scared of him. The only times I see Grievous mess up are either when he gets cocky or when he’s not in the condition to fight. That or circumstances. But that’s it. Past that he practically dominates. I think there are some people who have a chance to beat him, but not Sidious. If he played on his pride, he could win, but Grievous wouldn’t let himself do that fighting a dark sensitive. He didn’t even take chances with Ventress, pulling out all four lightsabers and only losing because she was on a nexus. But unless Sidious is pulling that off, I don’t see how he’s winning.
@@tombingham7455 Yes. Grievous would've *DESTROYED* Sidious..

Again correct if im wrong here
Darth Maul , is equally incredible , beautiful and tragic .
But who has a better story than Jar Jar the broken?
I will change your mind.
He is the best
Grievous’s story is actually really sad.. He didn’t chose to be this! He was once a noble warrior who wanted nothing, but to save his people. He was lied to and manipulated both mentally and physically turning him into something unnatural. He lost everything, his lover, his people, his religion, and his memories. He fought in a war that wasn’t his to begin with for the rest of his life and helped the very people who did this to him without even knowing.

How would YOU feel if you lost everything, you heartless MONSTER?! You'd possibly lash out at the first thought, too!
Part of the General being a cyborg was meant to foreshadow Anakin becoming Vader, but dang even the general’s back story foreshadows Anakin’s! They oddly have a lot in common.
I was thinking the same! I'll actually copy a comment of mine over -
He had a lot in common with Darth Maul AND Anakin, in the end - all of them were quite tragic, young, vulnerable, and manipulated - but where Anakin was groomed over many years, Sidious didn't have time for that with this alien native of another planet...so he simply ripped him from his home, his people, his culture...and his own body, forcing him to obey. It's so incredibly sad - granted, Anakin also gets torn from everyone he loves, and also ends up a cyborg, but he wasn't forcibly brainwashed like poor Grievous, so in the end? He got to choose. And that's why Palpatine should have done what he did with Grievous - made sure there were no loose ends, no loopholes. Luckily for the galaxy, he got cocky, and thought he'd won. He thought he had a well-trained dog...but even a well-trained dog bites when it's kicked enough! At least Anakin got the freedom to choose, in the end - though it makes his crimes more heinous than Grievous', in a sense, because Grievous never had a choice...Anakin did.
I just wish he had his OWN series or feature film. Absolutely LOVE his character! So much lore and rich history behind his character.
As long as it’s not made and ruined by Disney like boba fett :/
@@hayden980 he will prob be race spawned and gender spawned by a BLM lgbtq suporter
Grievous will always be my all time favorite no matter what.
2008 may have Grievous nerfed but didn't really lose that often, most people are forgetting that Grievous did gain victory over the Jedi like Ahsoka (2x), Kenobi (3x), Adi Gallia, had won many battles (more than Admiral Trench did) such as Battle of Abregado, Battle of the Ryndellia system, Battle of Falleen, Battle near the Arda system, Battle of Patitite Pattuna, Battle of Dathomir and Attack on Obi-Wan Kenobi's fleet/Battle of Florrum. Grievous showed more tactics/strategy like able to correctly anticipate the Republic's movements during the Battle of Saleucami, fool the Republic forces during the Battle of Kamino in ARC Trooper and put his massive army to good use by overwhelming his opponents on Dathomir. To be honest in 2008 show off more of his strength more than 2003 did, like lift a droideka in Malevolence, kicked two big thick door in Grievous Intrigue, shook an entire gunship when he kicked Kenobi on top of it in Bound for Rescue and lifted a Varactyl in Crystal Crisis.
Even comic like Son of Dathomir and Kanan: The Last Padawan portrayed him being menacing and powerful, as well as obviously being very intelligent and excellent tactician. He had fought and survived many tough opponents like defeated Depa Billaba (2x), survived Maul on Zanbar/Dathomir and survived Quinlan Vos on Raxus while gain the upper hand.
the more times he keeps running away and losing in the 2008 series make him look more like a joke instead of a threat
@@christopherpeelerii9700 Because he realizes the disposability of the droid army and its navy, which is much more inferior to the Republic's Army and navy (ie 5 clone > 200 battle droids and 2 veneators > 5 frigates)

Grievous was a real one man. I didn't know he had such a tragic history, rip to a real legend.
Love these videos by the way man keep it up👍

I feel like the movies do not do justice to grievous. They dont properly show his astounding fame and history. Truthfully he was as feared of an enemy as even vader, but he is portrayed as more of a weak robot general. And it never shows windu crush his lungs or explain why he coughs. They just left him as such an empty role in the movies. Even though he didnt know the force i still group him with the sith masters
Actually they kind of did in the tie in animated clone wars (the version that actually shows him as the absolute badass that he was) , the movie picks up directly after those events
The clone wars series from 2008 onwards was a mockery of Grievous, in retrospect i dislike that part about the series more than anything else. Lucas nerfed him already for Episode III but Filoni continued with the "moustache-twirling", weekly appearing villain spiel from then on. Although my childhood memories and nostalgia compel me to like the clone wars animated series otherwise, i do feel they did him dirty. Lucas did not want Grievous to become another Vader and Filoni felt the same. I understand why they chose to run with it but i still dont approve what they did.
I revere the Grievous of 2003 cartoon series, he was a true god of war and i think they brought out the best parts of his character in that version. The cheap, oversimplified, at times too cowardly version, who loses to GUNGANS of all species is not what Grievous was meant to be.
@@averagejoeschmoe9186 like say, for the gungans beating him, at least bring in 1 or 2 jedi, like plo koon, who uses his force stun lightning on grievous, giving jar jar to opportunity to booma him, then something

Exactly like make his kids form a grievous themed cult, and have them be villains in like a Vader comic or Jedi:survivor
I always liked the character design and I had a vague idea about how he came to be, but that was the most heartbreakingly brutal story I've heard in a while. Especially the bit where he dies just before order 66 happens. After all that, he didn't even get to see his goal completed by someone else. If he were an egoist about his ultimate goal that might have been a mercy, but all he wanted was that the Jedi were dead. If he'd lived to see it he probably would have high 20'd Sidious like
Nice.
Given that Order 66 wasn't his plan one wonders what he would have thought: would he have felt a bit cheated that he got kill-stealed or be happy that one way or another it got done.
That was awesome! I never knew General Grievous had such a sad beginning. Of course the dark side would ruin a great soul like him.
I love how now there are so many complete life's that I start remembering parts in this from parts of others.
it just dawned on me that thru all of the clone wars series anakin actually never met grievous face to face
Same!
Their scene in Ep 3 wouldn’t make any sense if they met in the clone wars
I know and it hasnt made sense to me until i realized they havent met
I literally just now realized this as well
It was planned by Sidious that they did not. He did not want to take the chance of Grievous killing Anakin. Grievous hated all Jedi and he could not trust Grievous not to kill him.
Grievous is my favourite character in star wars and I love that his people still worship him as a demi-god even after he left and when he died they made him a god. Perfect ending for the general.
The ending almost got me to tears

Both Grievous and Dooku are among my favorite Star Wars characters, so I'm super glad they were used so much in the Clone Wars show, as they unfortunately only appeared in the prequels.
I do like to think Grievous was welcomed into the pantheon of his religion. All this time, I always thought that he was an incredible warrior, but I had no idea how tragic his backstory is. He had no place in the war, but I do think it's super cool that he became so feared. It makes it almost disappointing, in hindsight, that he died the way he did.

This was honestly very wonderful. I never saw the comic books, however I was very locality watching the old Clone Wars cartoon and the newer one. The one episode where they went in to the general's castle... I knew there was so much more to know, yet these questions were never remotely answered well enough. Based on this 2 part film... I'm 100% sure it would make a great 2 hour live-action film. Better then "Solo". The Grievous story has to be far better then any other story in the Star Wars univerce. Just, so many dont know most of it.
Grievous honestly has one of the best stories of any character in Star Wars. I've always loved his character, but after watching these two videos I've developed a whole new level of respect for the writing that went into him. Great mini series!
Very interesting how Grievous held the fate of the galaxy in his hands when the sith fought Mother Talzin. What if he fled? What if he turned on Dooku? Was it really the will of the force to bring grievous to that point or chance?

What a fantastic two-part documentary. It’s incredible when all the stories, plots and battles are put together in chronological order like this, especially the lesser known stuff from comic books, novels and video games. Amazing job dude!
If we get a movie, then THIS should be the scrip.
Starting with the birth of the Dreamed Dreamer, experiencing his mutilation and transformation into the ultimat symbol of terror and ending with the ascendance of the Dreamed Dreamer into the pantheon of his people.
My personal theory as to why Grievous became such a push-over is that Dooku had Grievous' surgeon tamper with Grievous' brain to make sure he was more compliant. Hell it could even be a remotely controlled thing as Dooku would know Grievous would be more concerned with killing Shaak Tii during the siege on Coruscaunt over thinking about how he just popped back into existence
No more grievous to have the whole universe trembling from
man this is why you cant compare the legends and canon grievous. they are so different they may as well be different characters all together. 2003 be fighting multiple council level jedi, slaughtering dozens of clones without effort, and 2008 out here losing to gungans and not winning a single fight without cheating or relying on droids.

Thank you so much, this was such an amazing series and this has been my favorite thing I watched on UA-cam in a few weeks
A tragic hero just like Anakin, "from a certain point of view".
For those who says Grievous lost to a Gungan, let me remind you that *Darth Vader* went from "I surrounded by fear" to losing to an archeologist *Dr Aphra* who easily put the Dark Lord down with a puny taser gun yet small but was able to shut his entire suit. Not only she brought him down but at first was able to survive Darth Vader's abilities twice from being Force choke to being launch into space.
The Notorious Bounty Hunter *Durge* known to kill Mandalorian and Jedi, from being buried over year to being outsmarted easily and defeated by a puny archeologist.
Aphra is just a Mary Sue
7:55 just realized in this scene, Cody has his phase 1 armor. He has no rank plaque and the ab armor is round instead of angular. He has his phase 2 armor the rest of the episode.
Another fine piece to my collection
Just saw today both part 1 and 2.
General Grievous is my favorite character of all times! thank you so much for doing this, I enjoy every single moment of it. I am also going to be disgusting and say, I wish he would have returned in some way, however sometimes a warrior rest, is well needed.
I feel like if his mind wasnt altered he would have aided the jedi not because he wanted to but to get revenge at the sith
Grievous is such an amazing character. Knowing the whole backstory changes everything. Probably in top 3 of my favorite characters in the whole series, and one I respect from the standpoint of him being the conceptual embodiment of mental, physical and spiritual destruction.
Pretty cool character. Legends almost always expands on characters in such great ways. Definitely underused in The Clone Wars TV show.
Also I wouldn’t want a Grievous TV show or movie, considering it’s Disney they would make something that doesn’t compare to the legends continuity, and he’s not that important of a character to have his own movie.
Now I want a Grievous movie/mini series even more

This two part series totally changed my view on Grievous. Thanks for your hard work! I love your Complete Life Story vids.
This is why I’m subscribed to this channel. This is where I get my Star Wars lore. Thank you so much for the video.
The movies didn't come anywhere near close to showing what an absolute, total badass Grievous was. It would have been impossible to detail his whole life in the movies but to only portray him as a sickly, coughing cyborg that had lightsabers and was pretty hard to kill was a terrible injustice to the incredibly deadly and accomplished warrior and Jedi slayer that he really had been.
This video series on him was freaking awesome I just watched both in one hit. Awesome job bro.

19:15 “...and smashed the guards armor through their skulls” listen to it twice and you’ll realize the hilarity of it, not hating the video, it is a very well made video and that line just really got me lol
Obi-Wan: So uncivilized.
This two part series was amazingly well done. Grievous really has a compelling story, so much stuff I didn't know.
can you do a revan complete live story? his history is so complicated.
I would love to see that
Greivous was so nerfed, in 2003 he was a flipping monster, in 2008 he’s nerfed, looks cooler, but still nerfed
He still nearly killed Kenobi who beat Knightfall Vader.
This entire story is the reason on why Grievous is now my favorite star wars character
What do I need to direct and write an animated Star Wars series? and if I became a director and writer would I be free to place new ships, alien species, droids and characters?
