Removing staked pins from CZ Shadow 2 - the easy way

  • I’ve watched a few CZ gunsmithing channels now where the content creator complains about removing the staked pins and for good reason. They’re a challenge to remove if you’re hammering on anything with some give to it. By hammering on a concrete surface you’ll make things a lot easier for yourself. Use a dead blow brass mallet, something with some heft to it, not a plastic gunsmithing hammer, you’re not going to move anything with that. And use a starter punch with a tapered tip to prevent your skinny 3/16th punches from being deformed. The pointy tip of the starter punch fits in the divet of the staked pin, giving you more purchase on the pin.

      @Andrew Chang Sorry about that! I’ve had plenty of opportunities to demonstrate this in the past too and not sure why I never set things up to take a video of it. Glad you found it helpful and will minimize damaged punches.

      Hello my friend. Do you still recommend the Double Alpha PDR PRO-II Holster for your CZ Shadow 2 Optic Ready? I’m waiting on availability for the new Double Alpha Max Holster. Would love your feedback as always. Thank you.

      @John Frizzell Hello and greetings! The Double Alpha PDR Pro II is a very solid and secure holster, I’ve never lost a gun out of it. Can’t say the same for the Double Alpha Alpha X holster. But I like them both. When I drop the gun into the PDR Pro I know it’s not going anywhere. I find I have to fiddle sometimes with the Alpha X.

    What is your preferred method for installing new hammer pins, and what kind of punch do you use (tapered starter, flat tip starter)?

    • @CZFanGrrl
      @CZFanGrrl  Рік тому +1

      @thatpointinlife Hi Ben, great question thank you for asking. If the pin has a divet in it, use a starter punch, which has a slight tip (to fit in the divet, often the pins are roll pins and not solid pins. If there is no divet you can use a punch to push them out. On the hammer the only pin that is staked is the disconnector pin. You can replace it with a solid pin. Contact with the frame prevents the pin from falling out. I think they stake it at the factory to aid production.

    can you make a video on how to remove / replace the trigger bar spring? Im legit TERRIFIED that im gonna strip that screw. I was told I may have to heat it up? and I apparently need a very particular screw driver?

    • @CZFanGrrl
      @CZFanGrrl  Рік тому +1

      @R41D A video is probably not going to help much for loosening the screw. I’ve done 4 of them now and after heating the screw with either a small butane torch with a pin point flame, the kind they sell at cigar shops or a heat gun or a lighter (that’s my order of effectiveness and speed of loosening the wicked industrial Loc-Tite. The best recommendation I can give you on the flathead screwdriver, is don’t use the one from your drawer or even your garage toolbox. You need it to fit snuggly, no wiggle room for this. A Wheeler Gunsmithing driver set is what you need. I tried using a tool box flathead and that didn’t work out, even with the Lot-Tite loosened. When you remove it and you go to install it again, you’ll hear some indexing noises, like click click click click. Keep an eye on your trigger bar spring. As you tighten the screw, the trigger bar spring will start to spread apart. If it spreads too far apart, the humps on the spring won’t sit in the grooves cut into the underside of the trigger bar. I made you a short video. Removing the screw is not a big deal if you use the right driver. I’ve got that info on the right one that fits exactly in the video as well. I’ll @ you when I post the video shortly.

    Are those staked or just roll pins?

    • @CZFanGrrl
      @CZFanGrrl  2 роки тому

      @AZVIDS The video is on how to remove staked pins. The gun as mentioned is brand new so the trigger and disco are staked, the hammer/strut are push through.

    Are you still allowed to have guns in Canada😏

    • @CZFanGrrl
      @CZFanGrrl  2 роки тому

      @AZVIDS Absolutely! If you presently own them you still get to keep them. I think by October they will no longer be able to be sold, traded or inherited. I personally believe that handguns will never be at risk for being stolen from us by the Trudeau or any other Liberal government…the reason? If he removes all lawfully registered and owned handguns he’s going to have a hell of a time explaining to voters why people (gangs/criminals) are still being killed by handguns. It will be an awakening for the dummies that believe his lies. AR-15’s and similar are another matter because no one is getting killed by these firearms on the scale that is happening in the US, we don’t have those types of mass shootings with those types of firearms, so to his voters, it looks like a win when they are taken away, the idiots believe they will be safe.
