I loved that gen 4 anime reference where dawn's piplup always get caught in gible's draco meteor.At first i forgot that gag and i was wondering what did that poor piplup do to deserve that treatment,then i remembered the gag.
The fact this didn’t turn into either the “Ash can’t battle in game style” or “Ash is a dirty cheater and can’t win any other way” cliche. This was so much fun to watch!

@@Ahyes1 Kind of, but also not really. There wasn't any play-up of salty actions about either side cheating; both sides did react in confusion (and Ash of course believing Tasuguri was eaten alive), but, especially as the battle went on, both trainers respected each other and were going all out. Usually, the skit punchline is both sides pointing fingers and complaining. This was way more creative by comparison and, at least for me, is far more appreciated.
It's not cliche when it's true. -_-

to be fair, some of the stuff that goes on is pretty brutal. He: poisoned his pokemon, purposely fainted it, had it get eaten first (which is... unique to the paldea region)... lots of "meta" strategies are fairly cruel
Well yeah, he made one of his Pokemon attack another one of his Pokemon to the point of almost dying and commit suicide in one move then had a third pokemon eat the already weakened mon.
Tbf Jessie and James are pretty decent all thing consider.

Me too,I thought it would have been the usual "hahaha,ash suck" meme with wolfey clapping ash's lv10 pokemons and ash wondering how did that happened,instead it was actually a cool fight and ash for once wasn't disrespected too much.
I love how ash still use the most craziest plans and pulls it out his head and wins lol
this was actually amazing, I expected the same old meme or whatever, ash whining and losing blah blah, but this. This was good! The dialogue, the fight, the animation I loved it

Seeing Ash Ketchum outwit an actual competitively vialbe strategy with an anime one is somehow funnier than it has any right to be.
We need anime strats to be usable in the games (so that true chaos can unfold)
Bruh, I don't think Dondozo + Tatsugiri counts as a "proper strategy", especially if it spams Protect and Substitute.
@@JeeReeAnimation Neither is Toxapex stall except it kind of is depending on who you ask. My friend Alec has been defeaten on stram by this several times in limited format because it's considered a real strategy. I call it crap but then Light Screen teams are high IQ? It just depends on who you are.
I would genuinely love to see Wolfey react to this.

You see,everyone in the VGC worries about IVs,EVs,Stats,Natures, and the viability of every pokemon which they carefully hyper train and raise...
But even Ash still has his Plot Armor! That and inivation to make use of his seemingly dire situations

@@gustavolopes5094yeah pretty much guy has often times been forced to lose like having all of his pokemon tired or injured from team Rocket's antics on his first tournament battle and having to rely on a handful of pokemons including one that didnt respect him yet (imagine if your pokemon could refuse to follow your orders in the game because they dont respect you enough, it would be a pain in the ass) or the entire fucking battle with Elaine, ultimately Ash has more defeats than loses because the anime forced him to lose more often than not
But in the end he is the world champion
@@carso1500 Just fyi, pokemon in the games can refuse to obey you if they don't respect you enough. Depends on level and if the pokémon was traded to you. The more badges you get the higher the level of the traded Pokemon can go before it starts to disobey you. By the last badge the level cap is 100 so you don't have to worry anymore. That's always been the case btw.
Willing to give a proper characterization of Ash ? This is a surprise.

If you were to put Wolfy in the Pokémon World I wander if he would be able to adapt his strategies into ones based on the anime as opposed to just in game?
What an amazing strategy. Having Annihilape use final gambit on Tatsugiri while it was using endure to weaken it to 1 HP. Taking out Annihilape which allowed him to summon Dondozo without switching it out. Then with Dondozo on the field Tatsugiri can use its Commander ability to power up all of Dondozo's states. But since Tatsugiri is using its ability it can't attack, so by giving him a toxic orb it is able to faint the turn after activiting its ability. Dondozo will still be able to keep its states boost and this would allow him to summon another Pokemon that could attack. Bringing out his Flamigo who had the costar ability that allow him to copy any state changes for the entries battle. What a perfect strategy.
Sum: Quickly taking out Tatsugiri so it can use its Commander ability to power up Dondozo and not suffer the down side of losing one of your attacking Pokemon. Then powering up Flamigo with its ability to create an whole increase state duo.

You gotta strategically plan out Tatsugiri and Annhilape's HP to have Annhilape be slightly higher so Tatsugiri can survive

I was worried this would be one of those "lol ash sucks" parodies from the 2010's, but the moment I saw Piplup get hit with Draco Meteor, I knew it was genuine.
I was going in with exceptions that this video would be in a similar style to Gumbino’s videos. However, what I got instead was a parody that was more true to both the anime & VGC, and I loved it. Great video man!

this dynamic is often what i think about when competitive players think they could beat ash. i dont think anyone from our earth could come close to beating any experienced pokemon trainer in _their_ world without learning how to be an actual in-lore trainer.
which means no excessive breeding and nature changes unless you wanna be evil, you gotta actually take care of your pokemon, and suddenly there are several more dimensions of complexity to every battle.

This was really entertaining to watch and a nice subversion too! Definitely enjoyed it a lot. If you do a sequel I think it would be really cool to see different years in the vgc. Imagining Ash trying to get through GMAX Ursifhu or Mega Kangaskan sounds fun
