How much does it cost to own a BMW, Audi, Mercedes car in India beyond the purchase cost? I share my experience of owning a Mercedes GLA 200 Petrol and the costs that come with the ownership around servicing, insurance, repair, fuel, etc.

Eye opener for people who dream of owning luxury cars. People who create luxury car sales vlogs never show this side of story 😀. It’s one thing to buy to Elephant and another thing to feed it everyday.
Try service pack for 3 year. Uske baad Mera cousin bhar se Karwata hai, once warranty is over. Bhai Baki hati to raja hi chelate the apne liye Kia Sahi hai.

It's easy to get tempted by. Benz used price , especially by mercedes benz a 180 which easily. Comes around 9L min to 14L max 😂..
Remember... when you buy benz, always tell them for service first to see what's wrong with the car... Benz service is good and they openly say what's broken inside and outside... 😅
Problem is coz you were looking beyond your means,nothing wrong with luxury cars per se
Being an ex GLA owner my self I can relate to each and every point... totally on point.
After that GLA did you go for any German luxury car? I mean since you know this is it worthy to keep buying a luxury car?
I just laughed when you said the price of replacement battery. I own a Merc C200 Petrol. Gives a decent mileage of 10Kmpl. When my key fob batteries died, I enquired to the Merc and they said exactly 2000 + GST per remote. Then I searched in local market and bought Panasonic batteries that cost me 100Rs and the remote is working well since a year.
If you can't buy it twice, then you can't afford it...........
If you have bought a preowned Merc, then you’re going about it all wrong..
1. Insurance - just buy 3rd party. If you need to change spares, there are many places where you get parts which have come off accident cars which you can replace way cheaper.
2. Service - there are very competent service centers which give a very good service cost. 15000 - 25000 you can get it done annually.
3. Fuel cost - Those that have luxury cars also have other cars for daily running. These are mostly special occasion cars.

For people about to dip their dream of buying luxury cars and have a budget anywhere around 20 lacs. Trust me buy a used BMW for around 12 lacs and spend the extra 4-5 lacs on service and fuel. You get snob value, Performance, and company maintained car within 20 lacs. Just dont go to buy any luxury car new unless you love getting hit by depreciation. Cheers

Not because it’s maintainance is expensive but I realised that i cnt afford 1.5-2 lacs plus fuel cost every year.
Is fuel cost really that big of a difference? He claimed 9kmpl real world mileage, while most mid-size SUVs give mileage in the range of 10-13 kmpl.
Xuv700 will give the same mileage

I own a Hyundai SantaFe and I stayed away from buying a used Mercedes only because my fear of high service costs but the used car dealer told me that any time I need servicing he would arrange for it from private owners for a very less price.
I bought a used Santa Fe the flagship of Hyundai and I am astounded by its service ,maintenance and repair costs.
The service cost of Hyundai SantaFe is anywhere up to Rs.18000/= and one drive shaft had cost me about Rs.40,000 including labour cost and the servicing is not a very professional one. One extra key had cost me Rs.15000 ,new tires 82,000/= ORVM cost 15000/=
But the comfort of car is more or equal to Audi Q3 and much more than likes of Fortuner, Innova etc., in fact as such comparing is not good.
These premium cars need high maintenance of Engine mounts, ABS sensors, drive shafts and any careless driving means you are paying through your nose. Spare parts will not be available immediately.
100% Agreed. owing a Merc C200 and paid 22000 for just a Tensioner Bearing Replacement for the rubber belt a few days ago when the bearing ceized just because I drove it through water in rains. But as you mentioned, the comfort and performance justifies all the expenses that we pay for these cars.

Yes it’s costly. But you can’t compare with Hyundi and Mercedes.
GLA 200d gives mileage of 22 kmpl okay, just go n watch review. not all marcedes are same.
Hyundai aur maruti meh 30k ka service cost nahi hota bhai ..
Aur luxury segment meh Mercedes diesel engine is best ,good mileage and good performance...That also depends on which model u r buying...
But i liked the BMW diesel engine more powerful and responsive
yeah bmw is better, go for merc if you want snob value else its a shit show
The expenses numbers are very high & also the range for tyres is much larger... if its a FWD you can always rotate and get 60K from the tyres...also service cost is below 15-16 K ...its not worth it going for a service contract.

Like, will there be -Labour charges, -Pic up and drop Charges, etc?
Nothing, unless there's something that's not part of service (say, changing a broken bumper)

If you have 20L ready cash buy a good used merc . You will get 40km ran merc. Save fee money for insurance and maintenance. Lot of German car service Center’s are available. Don’t give in merc service center.

1:02.. 20,000-25,000 for maruti Hyundai servicing!! 😯😯 even VW charge a modest 10,000-12,000 for their servicing. Marutis hardly cost 5,000 for servicing.
Yeah bro... Bada chada kar btara h ye sb... I own a C class... And i get my car serviced from outside the showroom for just 10k... And third party insurance is just good because i drive really carefully!.. Here u go... Got all your answers

Simple, my merc dealer told me 1% when I got the GLE. That works to be about 1.1L or so per service. And my 5 years of owning the X3 (G01) also pointed to a similar number ~ 75K per service.

I believe insurance for E220 would be 1.5x of what I pay. And I pay close to 70k (3rd year).

Maruti, Hyundai, and few other cars’ service do not cost anywhere near 25K. Yes with luxury cars, the annual maintenance will be higher but that’s these are owned by those who can afford.
Bro I Do Have a BMW X3 Luxury Line ... First Hand ... And Services Cost Is Around 35k ... This Was Our Second Service ... So It's Not That Experience..... And Insurance Coast Is 80 - 90k And That To Zero Depth

If u want second hand luxury car and u r upper middle class then only buy audi cars bcoz their maintenance costs are the cheapest amongst bmw, merc and audi and u can service ur audi from outside German specialist mechanics which only costs u about 7-9k rupees for normal service and parts are costly but still cheaper than bmw and Mercedes

just went to a Mercedes dealership today to look at the new GLA...phew...really makes one wonder if it's really worth it...these companies should manufacture in India. These costs are just absurd. These card in Europe and USA cost something like half of what they cost here...
Seriously even i took a test drive of GLA....costs 53 lakhs ... doesn't worth it though seriously..usse zada features tho local car brands mai hai

Instead buy the economic brands like Toyota,Honda etc,they are cheaper to maintain and cars are also durable.
Won't insurance cover the dents and headlight repairs etc, key price, and all... This is the part for which you buy insurance, zero dep bumper to bumper...

I was going to buy a200d 2017 registration for 11 lakhs. I am a 26 years old guy and A class was always my dream car growing up but after watching this video, bhai 5-6 extra lgakar scorpio n khridna zada value for money hai. 2k for a battery change 😂😂😂

Excellent and Detailed review. I am considering BMW X1 (3rd Gen Diesel MSport) or GLA 220d. Only concern (user feedback) also I experienced during test drive GLA220d having slight jerk on low speed (< 35 kmph) due to DCT its ready to engage next gear however when we slow down it kicks down the gear and have a slight jerk/pullback.. This is also due to DCT tries to engage high gears (5th gear) at low speed due to efficiency... Any feedback on it? I am from Bangalore known for traffic so checking if this is a concern during daily. city drives.
