Hey everyone, for those asking about the eject from sunroof command on MBUX. This is genuinely real!
However it is only found on the portrait styled version of MBUX (MBUX v2 / NTG 7 currently found in C-Class, EQE, EQS & soon to be the new SL and new GLC next year).
Hi Nick, you never said HOW to set the Speed Limiter, this would be really really useful for preventing speeding tickets in 30 zones, for going 1 MILE OVER!!!!!!

Thanks for the video. Another thing I learned from this is that I don't need to keep the start button pressed until I hear the engine come on. Apparently I can just quickly press it and wait (with foot on break). Going to test that tomorrow.

I wish you'd published this video 24 hours earlier. I'm in my 4th week with my EQA in Tokyo. I pulled into work yesterday morning and got out of the car to open the gate to the garage. No problem. Back into the car and try to shift into drive and .... nothing .... then some message about "emergency" and "key" > check the owner's manual. WHAT?! I'm blocking the sidewalk AND the drive to the parking garage. DO WE REALLY NEED TO DO THIS NOW?!!!!

I am so very happy to have discovered your fantastic tutorials on MBZ! The manual is daunting to say the least, and puts one to sleep. My 2016 350 wagon was ready to begin eating money, after around 80,000 miles. We walked into a dealership to see how long it takes to order a new wagon. We’d heard up to a year. Sitting on the lot was a fully loaded cardinal red 450 wagon. It was “used” with 100 miles on it! A guy bought it for his wife but she didn’t like it. What fantastic news for us! A CPO certified car that was such a deal! We traded in the older cardinal red car on the spot. Poor new car has had to sit outside in the first and biggest snowstorm of the season. We’re in the midst of moving to a new home so the garage is full. Thanks for your great help with tutorials. I will be viewing them over and over until they are fully ingrained in my brain. I think there were features on my previous car that never got used,

I downloaded the TalkSPORT App on my iPhone (Radio), however the connectivity seems to have become a problem with connection with the Car at times for some really random reason. DO you know of any Apps that also do this, wondering if I should just delete the App.
The problem since adding this App is that any messages that are received by my phone automatically get turned into voice mail via the car which is great, however it now repeats the same message even if I reply/cancel the message… Any thoughts/ideas please.

Hey Nick, if you push the volume roller as if it was a button then you can switch the radio on and off.
isn’t it just a mute button? cos it silences bluetooth audio too
Mercedes-Benz has had the same volume roller since 1974!!! Pressing it will turn on and off the Burmester, (stereo).

Yes all makes of cars have immobilisers fitted after 1998. They activate when locked (it all works together when the alarm is set)

4:31 some signs i have noticed recently by putting in a fresh battery is the responsiveness of the key when opening and locking the doors from the outside. i also cant confirm if i can use my leg sweep maneuver to open the trunk if the key is in a low battery state.

Hi Nick, I am curious for slippery mode in dynamic select, will the all wheel drive reduce aquaplaning? I.e. wheel spins in symmetrically to avoid aquaplaning ?
Hey Supet Duper,
Basically Slippery Mode will reduce the power output quite considerably. It’s just best suited to wintery or extremely wet conditions.
It’s hard to tell as aquaplaning is mainly down to contact with the road and the amount of water the tyre can disperse. The tyre tread design plays a massive part into this too. For 4-wheel drive systems, yes this can help but good tyre tread depth would be the best in this situation and lower speeds.

I bought a 2019 Mercedes Benz C220d AMG Line a few weeks ago, absolutely love it and a big step up from my Ford Mundano ( Mondeo). I'm struggling with setting my HOME address in the nav menu, any tips on how to do this please ? Everytime the system asks if I would like to set the HOME address I say yes, it saves but when I voice command HOME it says no home address found or stored. I did manage to save it to favourites in the end. Cheers, Daz, Leicester.
Oh really that sounds strange
If you’ve saved as home the voice command should work with the command “Home”.
Not sure what else to suggest…
You could try a multimedia system reset, just bear in mind that this wipes everything from the car and puts it back to factory settings.
I had the glk but I bought new one GLB IN RED COLOR. I like talking to mercades also love the change of colors inside my suv. Backing out in reverse the camera popping out is so helpful & when changing lane the car lets me know if theres car close by . Love it ❤

I just got my brand new GLE 350e and it rolls fantastic.There is one thing I find rather strange.I am used to drive in the regenerating break modus. Meaning getting energy back in the battery during breaking. When the battery is empty this dos not work any more. Is there a way to set it do regenerative driving at all times ?

No sadly not it’s only available on the electric mode, so if it’s depleted you probably can’t select it
Got 71 plate cla 250e P plus, but 1st Sept getting C Class 300e Premium Plus. Can either use from front camera to record? Also believe you can also watch vidoes from the usb on the C Class?

For Dashcam it depends on the country that the car is sold in and the specification. Check with Mercedes for it on the car and keep an eye out for Augmented Reality as that’s the camera that makes it work.
Sadly with video playback, Mercedes don’t publish what models can playback video on their brochures etc but if it’s the new C-Class it should do. Double check with them to be sure 🤓

Thank you! I’ve not seen a setting to turn them off so I’d defo suggest contacting Mercedes. Hopefully they’ll be able to advise or take a look!

Question. Do newer Benz have the features where you walk away from the car and it locks itself without you having to touch the door handle or remote?

Thank you! Haven’t noticed this on any Mercedes to date. Some other manufacturers do this that I cover but with Mercedes you need to lock it with keyless (touch on the handle), the key or on the E-Class 2024 you can lock with your phone through Apple Wallet.

Ah that one’s easy, if you have it, when the boot is open on top of the tailgate on the left hand side will be a button. Just click that and the tow bar will extend automatically.
Sadly though my licence doesn’t cover towing and also having never done it before can’t imagine I’d be any good! 😅

But have a look in HOME, SETTINGS, VEHICLE, Winter Tyres, make sure this is off (if you don’t have winter tyres on)

Yes it’ll work the same way if the door is opened manually

Nick - I've been watching just about all of your videos related to my recently purchased EQS 580 and they are great. Thanks so much for doing them. I have a question if you still read these comments. I've paired my iPhone with the MBUX, allowed the contacts and favorites to sync, and enabled Apple CarPlay. CarPlay works great but I am really enjoying MBUX so I want to mostly use that interface. The contacts still don't sync so I can't just say, "Her Mercedes. Call ..." then list someone in my contacts. If I want to do that, I need to switch to CarPlay and ask Siri to do it. The dealership tells me that once CarPlay is enabled that the contacts won't sync to MBUX - it's just one or the other. True or is there something I've failed to do to be able to use contacts in MBUX? Thanks for any assistance.

Yes so for the best user experience (this is for any car as I cover various manufacturers and they’re all the same)
You must choose one or the other. For example in Mercedes if you have Apple CarPlay on, MBUX will suspend some of its functions and expect you to use CarPlay.
I’ve not been in an EQS for a while since I filmed one with Mercedes some time ago but it’ll be in the phone menu and you’re looking for some icons that have
Phone icon, Media icon & Apple CarPlay icon (this will probably be selected at the moment).
Press Home, Phone and look for the like a Bluetooth device manager option where you’ll find these icons.
Another thing you could do on your phone is press Settings, Bluetooth, find your car and turn off CarPlay in there which will force the car to use Bluetooth enabling the phonebook to appear on MBUX.

I am able to toggle between using CarPlay and BT but wanted to see whether you could confirm that the contacts would not be available to the phone function for both MBUX and CarPlay. Darn, that seems an odd restriction but "it is what it is" and I'll simply need to consider that when making phone calls or looking to navigate to a contact's address. Thanks again.
Ah that’s just the way CarPlay works. CarPlay is a completely separate UI and when enabled it’ll make the multimedia system in a car swap to CarPlay. You can use both together but you’ll find that you’ll be hopping between UI’s often as they both compete for your attention.
For example if you have a text come through, that’ll interrupt whatever’s on the screen and show you that instead.
@@npoleary Ah, I must just be recalling my last car's experience incorrectly. I had a Porsche Taycan before the EQS and I could see the two interfaces (Porsche and Apple) but I thought I was still able to instruct the Porsche side to call contact numbers. Since I used Apple CarPlay more often than Porsche's interface, I likely and just not remembering that experience correctly. MBUX does everything so much better than Porsche's PCM, though, that I find myself expecting to spend much more time on that interface. Thanks again.

Hi off the subject a little but you have helped me in the past. I have tried to connect my Samsung Galaxy to mt 2020 plate C Class and it does not recognise that anything is connected. Is there a problem with the car or do they not work with Galaxy phones. I want to connect to use the waze navigation on the screen because it warns of traffic jams more efficiently and also speed cameras. It works on other car built in screens when plugged into the USB ports. Thanks.

Just bear in mind, you need Android Auto on the car in the first place as it is not standard equipment.
Check on your car’s central screen by going to HOME, CONNECT (or APPS) and see if Android Auto is there.

@npoleary took me 20 seconds to do it with your UA-cam video. First time ever got back fom Cornwall to Derby with no traffic jam's. Stuck it in cruise control at 70 lol. Home in under 4hrs and got 61 to gallon in my 20 plate c class coupe. Just got to clean the wetsuits and hoover the sand out. Thanks again.

Hi Nick, did a search on how to change MB keyfob battery on YT and came across your video/channel. Managed to get the cover off no problem but at a glance, thought, oh, ok, I need a hex tool to remove the next level of gubbins to get to the battery, nope, much easier than that thanks to your video, really appreciate it, liked n subbed.

Regarding that audio silence startup tip, do the newest ones not respect the mute state like my W222 does? I just hit mute (to silence my MP3 files playing on an SD card) and when I get back into the car later (or the next day) it starts up still in a muted state until I unmute it.

Sadly not seen or covered the 2024 GLE yet but if I get my hands on one I’ll be sure to check it out!
I doubt it though, as with all Mercedes models that I’ve tested, you need to lock using the key or by touching the handle if you have keyless 🙏👍🏼

Hey Martin, no worries!
If your car can do it, try and swipe your instrument cluster dial to the left. If you can usually one of those is an analog clock, but just bear in mind, not all models can do this.
Can you turn off the media screen for night driving but still have the system on, ie radio or Spotify? I have a cla 250e amg line premium plus night edition 72 reg
Yes to lunch should be able to, if it’s the same as mine hold the volume button in the middle of the car (it’s the scroller wheel but it also a button too)
Three days into my 23 reg Mercedes not great so far. The dealer did not set up Mercedes me and when I had a go all I get is a spinning wheel in the middle of the QR code any suggestions?
Also I cant get internet in the car as Vodaphone state there are no packages available. I could go back to the dealer but as they told me the premium plus model I bought had adaptive cruse control only to find out it does not after I took delivery I would prefer to steer clear any Ideas?
Hey Michael, oh that’s odd, they’re the ones who need to add it. When reviewing a car I often ask for temporary access so I can see if there are any improvements and additions to Mercedes me, usually only takes a couple of minutes.
You can go to another dealer but you’ll need to take your V5 document in and proof of ID.
You sure they didn’t add it to your email or mobile? Just thinking you might be signed into your mobile but they added it to your email?
Hello Nick, how do I alter the sensitivity on my 2020 E class controls for sat nav etc, I mean the pad that’s between the two front seats, for instance if I’m entering the post code of an address the pad is so sensitive that I enter the same letter or number numerous times and have to keep erasing them?
Pretty sure I’ve seen some adjustments in the Settings menu although it can vary from car to car to where it is located.
Have a look on the centre screen:
HOME
SETTINGS
SYSTEM
or
HOME
SYSTEM
And then look for:
CONTROLS
TOUCHPAD SENSITIVITY

No sadly not :(
Only hybrids and EV’s can pre-heat! Wish mine could but no it’s just certain types of cars.
Perhaps someone else has commented about the starting of the engine with a dead key fob, but how do you get in the car in the first place?

On my 2021 GLE Hybrid, can you programme the car to remember the last drive setting i.e electric drive or battery saving mode?
No sadly not, all modern cars have to start in their default mode which in Mercedes is Comfort
Is there a way to stop the eqe/eqs to stop phantom braking as I ended up in hospital during recent phantom-braking episode. Braking was so aggressive and harsh and seat could not absorb the intensity of impact hence huge impact shock into lumbar region of back which sent me to hospital

Hi Nick, is it possible to deactivate the sensor for the foot open and close operation for the boot? The boot sometimes opens and closes without using my foot.
That would be the key 👍🏼
The sensor under the boot will only work when you are standing at the back with the key.
If the key is inside or in a bag away from the car then the sensor is inactive.
If the boot is opening then a button is being pressed and held on the key.

You can set cruise control and it’ll act as a limiter as well going downhill

Omg! Nick,,, What timing.. I was in the service department at Mercedes to have them check out my navigation system.. Something is wrong. It shows no navigation 3rd time now with an X through it. It works when it wants to. They did not find anything wrong and have to do more research I have to bring it back on the 14th and leave it there.. Not too happy right now with this. But it is working again, so who knows.... Nice Video as always...

Hey nick! I just purchased a pre owned Mercedes gla 250 2021. Unfortunately when I’m trying to connect to the Mercedes me app it still had the previous owner registered so it does not allow me to register. Any tips or help on this?
Ah awesome! Yes just chat with Mercedes and they can help get it linked for you. You’ll just need to take prof of ownership in or something.

Oh is this for using Apple CarPlay? You’ll need to plug it in for that (as long as it’s compatible).

@@npoleary my Apple CarPlay seems to go off in the middle of my driving, should I get a new cable? That’s the reason I wanted to go wireless but then it won’t show the Apple map on the dashboard screen. I suppose if I take it to the dealer but it will cost a lot of $$$. Btw, I’m team Red Bull lol 😂
My iPhone has the latest update iOS 17.4.1. When I plugged in the CarPlay to one of the usb ports, it seemed a bit loose. As a result, I paired it with Bluetooth and it worked but no pictures on the screen to look at the Apple map or any maps. I would have to turn on the speaker voice and depend on its directions via the voice or have to look down to my phone in the cup holder. Does that make sense. Sorry for the long explanation.
No that makes sense! I’d suggest a different cable to start. That might be the cause of it.
However if it’s the USB port then it’ll need to go to a dealer or a mechanic or something.

How can I switch between the radio channels that I have pinned? When I scroll over the arrow left / right I switch between the channels that the car has found instead of the fixed radio stations. Regards Michael
Depends on your model of Mercedes but if you have MBUX, I’m sure I remembered something in the settings menu in Radio where you could toggle this 🤓
Save it as presets on radio, u can cycle via both the dash/telemetry display or the main screen if ur radio is in presets

We have a 2023 AMG GT 53. When we activate the Cruise Control and drive by a MPH sign the car reads the speed limit and slows to that speed.. In general this is a safety feature, but does provide safety during the summer when school is not in session. Is there a way to shut this feature off?
Oooo nice! Yes I have seen it before on Mercedes cars. It’s under Traffic Sign Assist and a thing called “Adopt Speed”.

Hey Kimon, really sorry I don’t think you can add languages to multimedia systems. I know Mercedes do support quite a few but sadly can’t support them all!

2023 C class has improved a lot. But having software issues even after updating. Love the “hey Mercedes” feature.
Very basic question here. We own a GLS 450 and an AMG E53 Cabriolet. Where do you place your cell phone while you are driving the car? And your passengers both front and back? I have a pad on my dash that keeps items from moving but the heat is not good for the phone. Thank you for a response

Bluetooth connectivity works from any place in the car, it could remain in your pocket, centre console or any space that works. Some cars have wireless charging next to the cup holders and even in some cars, you can take the cup holders out for extra space!
can you unlock the door with a dead key fob battery as well?
cause the feature of starting the car with a dead key fob is fairly useless without that.

No it’ll always default to it’s normal setting for safety
Hi Nick, For EQA & EQB supplied type 2 charging cable.. Just installed a single phase 32A EV charger which should put out 7.3kW but only charges at 4.8kW for both cars using both cables. Tried same cables using 3 phase 22kW public charger - but again both cables only charge at 11kW. Why are cables half what they should be. Car charges fine at 7.3kW when using a different cable /charger. Help :) Mark

Hi Nick, when setting the limiter to a certain speed and going downhill, how the car keeps the speed? Purely relying on brake?
It’ll utilise engine braking and the actual brakes to keep it at a steady speed 👍🏼

Cars can do it automatically to a degree but you can manually change it if you want to 🤓
Do you know how to remove the sos service not activated light the comes in the display on my 2018 E300. We accidentally hit the button now it will not go away. Thanks
There’s a difference between “SOS not ready” on the centre screen, which is normal. This just depends if the car’s engine or ignition is on.
Or if you’re seeing SOS inoperative on the instrument cluster then no that’s not right, I’d suggest chatting with Mercedes on that one so they can take a look.

Ah SOS is only for emergencies (calling police, ambulance, fire etc)
And you can use the buttons! Usually shortcuts for everything on the left screen but then the other side will operate the instrument cluster and cruise control 👍🏼
I was bummed to see my '24 GLE 63s doesn't seem to have the key icon in the cup holder. Do I not have that feature in my very expensive Mercedes? 😔What a useful tool that would be to have....
