When it comes to luxury cars, second hand is always a good option if you are capable of inspecting the car thoroughly. Luxury cars have its own advantages in terms of driving experiance and especially in India people judge/respect differently if you come out from a Luxury car. I bought a 3 series BMW and its very well maintained which I can never get a new one at that price. Its worth it if you can maintain it well. I am loving it. Cheers.

So, the tax is exempted on the entire value of the car + resale value. And luxury cars are imported so our country has to pay in dollars to import these cars in the first place, which is already a burden on our country's current account deficit. Moreover, luxury cars consume more fuel, and we import fuel using dollars. As the dollar reserve reduces, the rupee gets devalued, and inflation will start rising. It applies to the iPhone and everything that is imported and moreover all the serviceable parts including engine oil gets imported, so each lux car will consume more dollars in its lifetime so it is actually very bad for the economy, to discourage this act govt is imposing more taxes. But imagine how many iPhones can we import for the price of one BMW X1 ? If you say that I want a BMW because I love its driving experience and I can afford one, then I will totally agree with you, but I will not agree about helping the economy.

As a owner of 4 cars, the one I really enjoy in city is S-Presso, the cheapest car I own. Easy to drive, easy to park and less worry of some idiot damaging it.
There's a saying, "if you can't afford a new german car, you definitely can't afford a used one". The most sensible option for anyone with 20L budget is to buy a used Toyota Innova or a Fortuner. They are built to last. Their maintenance is truly affordable, if you know how to negotiate with the service center.
If I want that thrill for looks and luxury I just modify the used car the way I want. But I really wanna buy gemera after learning pinpoint matters of it makes me really mad.
My dad bought a X7 and a defender 110 x dynamic hse this year and payed 1.4 cr in taxes on the cars , so moral is see the on road price in your state and that the price of the car ( also you could take a loan and invest the lump sum in such a way you pay the emi’s before the date )

Many luxury car buyers or super car owners buy on their company if they have so that they can claim GST's through input credit and also register at pondicherry,Himachal Pradesh which has less road tax or else if u register on travels on keeping in mind of promoting tourism state govt completely waive of on hotels name or travels
Yep, I bought a used luxury car for mostly professional purposes and occasional intercity shuttles. One thing that is missed out in the video is that even after buying an seconds luxury car, you are not free from electronics expenses. It's the electronics and tech sensors which would show it's age after 4~5 years and by that point you need to shell it out from your pocket(and not warrenty). However, mechanically these cars can drive for 2~3 lakh kms easily, may be suspension change after 1lakh kms but the electronic tech will burn you if you want those features. If not, something like a City or Verna should be fine for most of people who needs a car and can maintain it.
In simple. When you should buy a thing. If today you buy a thing which you really not in need. Then tomorrow you will not be able to buy things which you really need.

You forgot the interest rates. Hey Sriman I am driving a Crysta, Vento and Safari. All of these cost me 75 Lakhs including the interest less than your BMW. All my family members are using these vehicles. I knew about these taxes on luxury cars 8 years ago and decided not to purchase one because I am not convinced as the roads we drive these luxury cars are not safe and service costs are too expensive. So I recommend people even they are affordable not to buy luxury cars and become choo**ya.
