It’s funny because as a person with autism I automatically talk with my hands - my first time taking pictures with fursuiters at a con I always mimed a camera when asking to get a photo with them. Didn’t realise I was doing it until my friend asked me why, but turns out I have great etiquette!

I don’t have autism, but I also do this! And it makes me feel better when I’m wearing paws, and when I press my paws together and it puts pressure on my hands for some reason.

Thanks so much for bringing up the deodorant and showering at least once during con weekends because no one likes being around a musky husky especially in close spaces like booths in the Artist Alley or Dealers Dens and no one wants to be hugged by a smelly person while wearing an expensive shag carpet that traps odors. 😩 That goes for everyone attending conventions not just the Fursuiters.

I hate when people get mad at fursuiters for poodling. I live in a very hot place, being able to survive is more important then not "breaking the magic"!

I poodled in my fursuit (i had a tanktop with my mini partial because It was the same color as my Sona) and luckily nobody mentioned it.
i HATE when ppl touch my suit/me while in suit without asking,, i have autism and it annoys me so much because it makes me feel trapped/etc because of sensory issues 😭
I haven't gotten a fursuit (yet) but I've worn a lot of costumes and cosplay during my life up to the age 25.
A lot of this is common knowledge with costumes and cosplay in general. It's amazing how much it shares in common with fursuiting.
I experienced this type of stuff with idiots running up to me when I do that stuff on Halloween and for massive parties, people have been really oblivious to what I hoped would be obvious. Glad you shared this info.

I was wearing a tail at a high school football game for fun once and that ended in the tail getting broken because some a hole didn't follow any sort of etiquette. I don't plan on wearing stuff like that even if it fits a dress up day theme anymore

Couldn’t agree more on the elevator rule. Went to a convention in march, there were two elavators and one was down, to make things even better, the stairs were also closed. I went up and down a couple times, trying to leave my suit head on as to not break character, but it took so long I just couldn’t
As a suiter with glasses I really appreciate you mentioning us!
Unfortunately everytime I hug someone or engage with someone in a way that nudges/shifts my fursuit head it smudges my glasses as well as makes them crooked which stunts my already poor vision haha.
It doesn't stop me but it's just very difficult to see and I feel like I'm actually pretty blind in fursuit, my visions halved by eyelids and one eye is fully covered at all times 😂
This is a great to the point video! Nice simple clear guide. The heat and stank issue is part of why I'll only ever do a partial; easier to keep myself cool and smelling okay. People who can do full suiting and survive a full day of it are so intensely powerful.
Also I just can't stop looking at your new sprites. I keep noticing new things like the little fluffs on the hips. It's such a great design!

I feel like your channel is a furry 101, and I enjoy it as it's very helpful ESPECIALLY for young furs just getting into the Fandom. Keep doing what you love!
Since I've gone to FWA a few times, I've gotten a lot of hugs, and given boops, all with permission of course! I love the suiters. Every one I've interacted with has been awesome. Also, I'm usually uncomfortable with physical contact to a certain extent, but hugging someone in suit just doesn't make me feel anxious or uncomfortable. It's really nice, and I was kind of put off by people in mascot costumes while growing up. The costumes were so lifeless, and I would imagine what it would have to be like to be in that costume. I guess I always imagined that the people in the costumes weren't enjoying themselves, aside from the occasional sports mascot interactions, but I was never into sports. With fursuiters, though, there is usually just so much more enthusiasm, and I love to see people be able to express themselves in that way. Wearing the suit to express themselves, and perhaps entertain others. It's something I could see myself doing if I had the cash and didn't start melting in temperatures over 65° F
OMG IM SO GLAD YOU MENTIONED SOME OF USE WEAR GLASSES IN THEM, I wear rounds so those are usually bigger (round glasses) and I specialize in making my fursuit heads compensate for that while still being snug, but... if someone were to push on the snout it would jab my glasses against my nose bridge and eye brows which will hurt a lot

Spot on with all your points. I have my bifocal eyeglass lenses built right into my fur head so being booped in the nose is not a hazard but but I would rather be asked first anyway 😀

I have a idea to fix the hearing problem. It involves using modified hearing aids like a internal speaker inside of the furry ears themselves, will have a microphone inside that amplifies external sound. and there is a speaker inside of the head that acts like earbuds that allow for better hearing that are wired to the microphone in the ears. Great vid btw 😊.

@@yourfriendlybud1902it very much is, and it doesn’t help that some zoophiles happen to be furries :/ which gives us bad misconceptions as well. We get hate mostly because of gullible people who paint us as bad because of a loud minority.

I'd like to leave a nugget of life-saving knowledge that i've never really seen anyone bring up:
Those with anhidrosis [extremely low or no sweating at all] are incredibly sensitive to heat, and if this is you [like myself] please please PLEASE stay hydrated, utilize cooling locations, and know your limits!
As much fun as being a furry can be, it isn't worth risking your life gambling with heat stroke.
Poodling can actually help with this, but if you insist on wearing a full suit, PLEASE have it tailored with your anhidrosis in mind! Be mindful of whether you want to be able to drink while wearing your head or not. Make sure you get vents for air and fans for circulation if you can afford such things! Bring baby wipes too, to wipe your skin with in order to help you cool down; not only can this save you money, but it could really come in clutch on a hot day!

There was someone at my local comicon last year in a full dutchie suit and my fiance was gonna go ask them if I could take a picture with them, but I told him not to because I didn't want to accidentally get my facepaint on them if I bumped them or something.
This year, I'll be wearing my first partial I made myself so I'm gonna be expecting some....looks, to say the least.

Good thing I don’t really initiate any contact so I don’t have to be afraid of asking for anything lmao. Like I was a helper for my friend who was in a suit, I was his translator and I had to ask permission from people to take pictures because my friend wanted pictures with them. That’s was nerve wracking, it also doesn’t help that even my “raised voice” sounds way to quiet for people to hear so I personally just don’t bother asking or initiating anything.
. Fursuiting looks like its alot of fun but i can only imagine how hot and tiring that gets especially in crowds

This is a video the entire non fur community needs to watch. I was in fursuit last week at band practice and people were allowed to come and watch us. Everyone tried to pet us (that includes Desmond, Marissa, and Max along with me)!
I wonder, I bet if somebody could come up with something like under armour with some type of cooling channels inside of it you could pump water or something like that I bet they'd make a fortune. Specially with fursuiters.

Fursuits are super bulky on the inside.
i never met a furry actualy most of the things are common knowlegde to me i didn't know about hand gestures and hearing problems when you are in fursuit here in Poland Pomerania to be exact we don't see a lot of furries and convetions are mostly in big cities like Kraków or Warszawa and travel is expensive ;-; (sorry for any mistakes my native language is polish)

Some of these are just general etiquette like literally we are told since kids that we shouldn't touch strangers like I think it's crazy that people think that just because you are in a furry costume all that should be chucked out the window especially since a lot of furries have aniexy or autism.
I'm really jumpy so thanks because if someone touches me without me knowing they're there I would have a panic attack

Ive had so many people cut and walk in front of me with no warning while I’m suiting. It is super rude!! I had a lady yell at me because she was in a mobility scooter and tried to squish past me in a very small space to my side while i was in fursuit, and I didn’t see her. She called me rude names
you are describing fursuiters as if they were semi trucks. Talking about blind spots and making sure they get your attention if walking infront of them

I used to thing being touched without permission wouldn’t be a big deal to me, because I’m pretty touchy. But when I attended a furry meeting in fursuit for the first time, I got MAULED by a group of young fursuiter, made me real uncomfortable. So much huggin was too overwhelming.
Another bit of advice for fursuiter ettiquite would be to add ice packs/anything that can help maintain cooling in full-suit. It's advice I will be very much following when I suit up at my first con... Along with these other rules.

also ,, i'm realising that i'm way outta touch with the direction fursuiting and character performance in the furry community is, but hopefully more in a goofy oldhead way than a stern dad way. it just gets kinda flat after a while with the 'love yer suit' exchanges. it feels like i'm telling them i don't love all of who they are, like when someone tells an artist they love their work. and al- ok. i need to stop! i'll stop. there're kids watching

Oh my god i used to think people were over reacting when they said "Make sure to put deoderant on when u go to a convention!!!!" But no... at fwa 2023 in the dealers den, all i could smell on the entire half of the room was onions. You would think people would know by now!

Assalamu Alaykum, Sister Solar Saber!!!!!! you brought up a very good point, Wearing deodorant and showering also applies when you’re wearing Middle Eastern clothing and it is Summertime. Also, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) praise the Sahabah, (Companions) Who washed themselves regularly.
I also think fursuiter need to the know the No touching/Booping rule, I think some fursuiter might think of oh if there wearing a suit so it’s okay to hug them as well! idk if anyone eles had this problems but man the time I have been hugged unwantingly and booped from suiters themselves is kinda idk overwhelming- im blind in my right eye so I have a HUGE blind spot and can only see from my left eye and that Vision isn’t even good- so for suiter and non suiters just don’t touch people period without permission

*fingerguns in disabled/chronically ill cause my sweat doesn't stink* (no really I'm 16 and have never needed deoderant in my life) But I WILL be taking showers so I don't feel gross/make my suit feel or look gross
