- What's goo my dudes welcome back to another video. Today i went threw a list of what you need to know and consider when tuning your mk7 gti!
I went over everything that I've learned from owning and moding my mk7 gti. I hope these tips for tuning help you guys out!

I've a 2020 GTI stock and have been thinking about tuning options so this video was very informative.
Love the thoughts, sometimes it’s the small things we take for granted but it’s good to appreciate them and how they can make a huge impact later on.

What up brother Chris.. I'll be upgrading this weekend. Going from APR Stage 1 and TCU tune with neuspeed fmic to EQT stage 2 with the IE downpipe. Can't wait!
my stock clutch lasted approximately 0 miles on my tune hahahaha. Put in the DKM stage 2 and it holds power super well.

I have a ‘19 Mk7.5, manual, and I thought I read somewhere that it has the same clutch as the R’s, and so the stock clutch should be able to handle the extra power of at least a stage 1 tune, which is the most I’d do anyway. Do you know if this is true for Mk7.5’s and newer clutches? Thanks!

Lmfao been at ~310whp with my jb4 map 6 tune on stock clutch for around 15k miles no slipping yet! Im counting my days 😂

Issue is High Torque more than high HP

Yeah that’s are super sick! I’m pretty sure that they are a factory upgrade option for the autobahn but I haven’t been able to find more or gotten a solid answer on what they are specifically 😂

I got a stage 2 dkm clutch in my stock mk7 gti and it started slipping after 10 k kilometres and now i have southbound stg 2 daily highly recommended that

in france its forbid to mod tune engine that why majority dont tune only may be 20% but ironic in UK and US tune like crazy some ppl touch that i would say 80% of them that why reability are better in france interesting right?

Aye what’s good dude!! So down pipe wise ARM motor sports, CTS turbo, MAP performance and armytrix are definitely the best routes to go. You don’t wanna get a no name kind because they never line up right! As far as tunes go if you go for the Cobb access port side then EQT , and sneaky are the best and unitronic and IE are definitely the best! Hopefully that’s helps a little homie, if you have more questions lemme know I gotchu 💯
So you don’t need a tune with a high flow catted DP? Only with a cat less DP?
No you need a tune for both your changing the downpipe
Been running JB4 Map 1 for about 1k miles on my stock clutch 2015 GTI. So far no
issues but i’m ready to shell out for a clutch lol

Building 2019 mk 7.5 GTI rabbit edition! Any advice for intercooler? Frontal collision warning system makes several not compatible.
I’ve got a 15 plate that’s been staged 1 but only to 300 instead of 320 for that turbo reason getting a custom exhaust soon was going to just to the cat back but might do the down pipe instead now
Yeah dude I will definitely say the dp is what actually for the money makes it louder and the catback is what changes the tone that’s the biggest thing I’ve learned about these!
Same thing for the Gold R’s as well
Aww dam like the clutch is weak too? I kinda assumed it was the same just the dsg is better and the pressure plate holds way more in those. Thank you homie 🤘🏻

I just got a gti and I wanna go like intercooler, Intake downpipe and a tune. I have the DSG so I don’t have the trans problem. But I want a tune that also adds pops and Ik sneeky tune dose it but it says you alr need the Cobb acsess port do you know anything that can help 😂?
I have 82k miles on my MK7 GTI 6spd, and I was Stage 2 IS20 since 5k miles, and went IS38 at 30k miles, and I still have the original OEM motor mounts (I do have the 034 Motorsport dogbone insert), and I’ve had zero issues running OEM. Upgraded motor mounts are not needed. Turbo muffler delete also is not needed.

Hey Chris, I just got a ECS tuning intake, I wasn’t planning on getting a intake or anything really because it’s my daily but a great deal on one popped up on marketplace and I went to go pick it up, I wasn’t planning on tuning my gti, do you think I need to get a tune on it to run the intake.
Where did you get those front seats?
They are actually a factory upgrade option for the autobahns haha I have no idea until after I bought it. Got pretty lucky 🔥
How much $ on average did it cost to get it where it’s at now, I just got a 2016 gti and want to start getting it too where your is at power wise and what do you think the very first thing should be to do it’s sitting at 85k miles all stock straight piped.
What’s up my dude, so the main things that I would do to make the most power for the money is, a front mount intercooler, a high flow or catless down pipe, 100% a tune will wake it up the most, you don’t really need an intake in theses but it does make a difference too. if it’s a dsg then you don’t need to worry about the clutch you just need to tune the ecu and tcu and if it’s a manual then you’ll need to get the clutch done eventually if your gonna ouch decent power my dude! But those are like the main power mods that will make the biggest difference! Hopefully that helps homieeee 🤘🏻
Might have to look into engine mounts now. I'm getting a Pro Tune with a Hybrid Turbo on my manual mk7 GLI in a month or so. Just waiting on all the parts to arrive.
Thats gonna be sick my dude she’s gonna be a sleeper for sure!! Yeah my homie just put a good set of mounts in and said it makes night and day difference but there alotttt more vibrations so there definitely pros and cons! But your gli is gonna be beast homie 🔥🤘🏻
Is there a link to what exhaust system and downpipe you using? I have a mk7 and just been doing a lot of research but want more opinions
Yeah man I’ll throw 2 links in the description in just a second for you! I’m running the magnaflow cat back and the cts catless down pipe and I haven’t had any problems or engine lights. The magnaflow catback is a super clean and pretty loud sound. It’s like a 4/5 for how loud it is and it does drone like a tiny bit on the highway but that’s more so because I’m catless. Hey man. I heard about the high possibilities of experiencing crank walk on tuned manual mk7 GTIs. Did you do anything to prevent that from happening to you because I'm cross shopping between the 6MT and the DSG. I haven't seen or heard of any issues with the GTIs DSGs, I want a GTI but I don't want something that'll break my heart in the long term.
the 6mt is so fun mine is tuned and has 0 issues at 90k miles just don't go overboard past 400 hp and you're good
I don't remember where I heard this but
crankwalk should be a non issue especially in the later year models, as if you go single mass flywheel there is the possibly ? or something like that
Crank walk happens on the DSG too
I have a 2017 MK7 R and I can tell you the clutch the also crap, and you will need to upgrade it if your manual. That said I've not even tuned yet and it started slipping at 80,000km with stock power levels.
What mounts do you have?

stock golf r clutch is shit :)

the stock clutch gti is rated for 260 trq and the car has 258 trq lol
MK8 GTI is at 273TQ and uses same as MK7 Clutch.
Golf R is at 280TQ and uses GTI clutch
so much cringe
