- What's good homies welcome back to another video. Today we where lucky enough to be able to work with ARM Motorsports and install their Catted downpipe for the mk7 gti. Wanted to really get a good test if catless or catted downpipes are better for the MQB platform. Also got to rip with the homies!!

8:26 thats me every time i do a cold start 😂....i run a catted cts dp and stock exhaust and it nice and quiet when you're cruising, but when i hit it sport mode the eqt pops and bags are loud 🔥. I feel that's a nice sleeper set up.

The “eqt” is that a tune? My mk7 is completely stock and I want more exhaust sounds but not over the top. Would love to be able to put it in sport mode to really unlock the sound like you’re saying though?
@@jaketaylor1044 yessir so Equilibrium tuning is EQT and they are who I run my threw for tunes. If you want more sound but not to much you could do just a high flow catted down pipe only and they will give you just enough sound with the stock exhaust to sound really good

hey just wondering do you have any tunes or any other mods to ur car? I have a fully stock mk7 gti but not sure if just adding the downpipe itself will add a decent amount of noise such as pops and bangs.

Sounds the same to me other than taking a tiny sliver of that edge off of the raspyness.
My vote is for a Vibrant as well. Or a better catback (hint hint AWE Track) or the Touring if you're wanting an ACTUAL sleeper status ;)
Yeah I’m definitely thinking about putting a res in or yeah possibly a quieter catback to really achieve sleeper status 😂😎

Ahhh gotcha. Do you still throw a cel with this dp? Strongly considering on getting this for my mk7.5 golf r. But the catted one which I was told isn’t much of a difference between that and catless on the design of this dp.
@@big_seeek3730 yeah that’s definitely true, it still throws a cel light and the difference between catless and catted is super small. Haha it’s meant to be as high flow of a cat as possible

hey bro i got the same downpipe on my MK7 but im throwing a PO420 code im thinking of gettting a O2 spacer to see if this will help it go away wondering if you had the same issue if so what have you done to keep the CEL light off
My fix Dorman Spark Plug Non-Fouler 42006 I drill one of the holes the same size and the inner bolted one on top of the other screwed that on to the down pipe and the 02 sensor on to that no engine light running fine
I’m probably going to be adding a res also kinda tired of being loud

When you did your clutch did you replace the RMS or since it wasn’t leaking or anything you just left it alone?
No so me and my friend did it in the vw/Volvo garage because he works there so they had a seal on hand, the one I pulled out was actually in good shape but I just changed it so I would have to later on.

I’m getting a catless DP and I don’t have a tune because I don’t want one. I have read that a cel will come on and a fix is o2 Sensor spacers. Does any of y’all have experience with them

No I tuned it as soon as I installed the dp and didn’t have any issues with the cel light. I was running catless for a tear before this too

Awesome video I just installed a 3in CTS downpipe on my 2021 Mk 7.5 GTI. I also have a Cobb Accessport who would you recommend getting a tune through? Current mods are a Cobb stage 1 kit and a CTS downpipe and currently have stage 1 OTS tune 93 installed.

Feels awesome man, definitely heavy and chatters though, it’s a 6 puck setup instead of an organic disc so it’s definitely not the easiest for daily use but it holds all the power

Dude I went catted arm dp with apr catback exhaust and when you get on it, it is plenty loud. I’ve had super loud ass 5.0’s and shit and I’m over the mega loud cars. This one is quiet when you’re cruising but when you get on it it definitely has a little something.

Since cobb doesn’t allow removal of CEL’s anymore, if I want a catless DP how do I avoid the CEL (which according to Ed from EQT will cause the car to alter fuel trims making it run rich / lean after a while )
Some companies offer a spacer you can install that’s supposed to remove the CEL
@@-danth3man-724 I heard that doesn’t always work, but I’m gonna try. Ain’t no way I’m getting a catted downpipe, I live in Florida and there’s too much benefits from going catless. I heard I can also unplug the rear O2 sensor with 0 issues because the car doesn’t respond to that
@@modernbassheads5051 benefits depend, the only thing you gain is "flow" great for high hp builds but majority GTI's don't even see the 500hp mark. Catless will give you the smell at stop lights and brown smudge to clean off the rear end every few days.
Get a tune for a downpipe, that would fix it

So not so much loss of torque but more so you can kinda tell that it takes and extra second to spool up because it’s blowing all the pressure but not enough that it bothered me or really hurt performance

I ain't gonna lie I'm running the ARM catless DP with MBRP catback and its hella loud sounds good tho, but I wanna Vibrant Resonator to weld in where the "resonator"
is on the MBRP but idk what would tone it down a tad lol
