Yes, Dolly did write this as a good-bye to her musical partner of 7 years, Porter Wagoner. Big ugly mess and she ended up calling him a male chauvinist pig, but that didn't mean she wasn't sad about their split. And apparently she took the royalties she received from Whitney's version and bought a strip mall in a predominantly Black neighborhood in Nashville to make her offices there in honor of Whitney, bringing people together. She calls it, "The house that Whitney built." We must protect this woman at all costs!

You would think they would also have asked Brenda Lee to be inducted into the gospel hall of fame too, but she's also in the R&R, country and rock-a-billy HOFs. Both legendary ladies.

Dolly wrote it and her version and Whitney's are very different. I love Dolly's because it's quieter. What Dolly did then was use the huge amount of money she made from Whitney's record sales to start charities for poor Americans.
Whenever anyone sings this song, Dolly's cash register rings! When asked about Whitney's version, Dolly's famous comment was: When I sang this song, I took it to the bank. When Whitney sang it, I bought the bank!!
Yes. Dolly wrote this. Along with over 6,000 other songs. That’s right, 6,000. An icon? No She is a National Treasure. From music to charity, everyone else strives to be like her.
Hi Britt. Dolly not only wrote this , the guy she wrote it to and for was standing just a few feet from her during this performance. When Dolly was getting her start she was hired by Porter Wagoner to be the girl singer on his TV show. She said she would stay for a couple years and then go off to begin her solo career. They had big hits together doing duets and the popularity of the show grew larger after she joined it. Several years later she told him she was leaving as she had said and he did not take it well. He said some very unkind things to and about Dolly. She wrote this as a goodbye and performed it for him. Years later Porter fell on hard financial times and had to sell his book of music and songs. Dolly bought them so he would get a good and fair price and then gifted it all back to him. He apologized and they became friends again. Years after that when Porter was ill and dying, Dolly went to the hospital often and sang for him and his family. She is the sweetest woman and has done so much for so many. She has also had an amazing acting career. To date (she is still writing) Dolly has written over 4 thousand songs. Great job as always Britt.
As author of this song, Dolly earned more than Whitney for every play of this song [whichever version]. And she deserves *every* *single* *penny* . Love Dolly and everything she stands for
She is a shrewd business woman. She has a heart of gold and passes a lot of her good fortune on to others, but she was never one to be taken advantage of.
Dolly wrote this heartfelt masterpiece and hearing her sing it always warms my heart and brings tears to my eyes. This is a gentle song which should never be belted.
Dolly is a living, breathing, singing angel. When I hear her sweet voice, I cry. The absolute best singer of all time because she embodies the kind, loving, wonderful words she uses in her songs. 💜💙💛💚❤💋!!
Dolly is one of only a few artists who can be called an all-time great, she has it all a great voice, entertainer, songwriter, music composer, story teller, and never seems to take herself seriously, by that I mean she has a great sense of humour which I just love. thx for another great reaction.
Dolly wrote “I Will Always Love You” and “Jolene” the same day. Two of her many, many hits, arguably the best known of her catalogue. ❤ I have loved Dolly for decades.
The man she wrote this about is standing just off camera. Porter commented afterward that if Dolly keeps creating songs like that she’ll do very well on her own. A massive understatement. Really enjoying your reactions.
I moved from the midwest to the south when this song came out. A native neighbor asked me it I liked their Country Music and I said I wasn't very familiar with it but there was one song on the radio I really enjoyed. She asked what that was and I answered, I will Always love you, and she said "Oh, that's Dolly, everyone loves Dolly." So true. She wrote her songs, every one is great, and her voice, singing, and playing are perfection.
I was always fascinated at how many couples used the Whitney version as their wedding song. I can only guess that they somehow did not understand that it was a breakup song.
Reminds me of the time my uncle who was a pastor his whole life was dying and the family gathered around his bedside and sang “coming home” not realizing it was a song about a prodigal child until they reached the verse that said “I’ve wasted many precious years…” 😂😂
She and Emmylou Harris are what I call songbirds, with effortless trills and huge feeling. You should try one of Emmylou's songs, maybe "Tulsa Queen" or "Making Believe" from her live concerts back in the 70s. Of course, both Dolly and Emmylou teamed up with Linda Ronstadt to form "Trio". That is a goldmine of good music. The Sweetest Gift. After the Goldrush. Farther Along. Awesome.
So beautiful that this is a personal song between you and your grandmother. I would imagine your grandmother also know her Song "Coat of Many Colors" if not you should play it for her. Dolly has written about 3000 songs. Many for other artists such as Merle Haggerd, Hank Williams Jr, Kenny Rogers, Tina Turner and many more.
She is a National Treasure. Not just due to her beautiful voice. But her graciousness, kindness, and big heart. She does so much with what she has been Blessed with.
Dolly is a very savvy but generous woman. She protected her song rights and when Tom Parker wanted her to give up rights to this song so that Elvis would song it, she refused. And Whitney's version did make lots of money. She values her roots and her song Coat Of Many Colors tells of her childhood. She generously supports literacy by providing books to children and her creation of Dollywood has brought business and jobs to her birthplace. She is indeed a national treasure.
So many have no idea that Dolly Parton wrote this song. In many interviews Whitney said before she released her version she sent it to Dolly first to get her blessing, cuz it was her song.
When Whitney was at the top, she made a lot of songs her own, cover or original. She was such a talent. Sadly, that makes the ending that much more tragic. As far as Dolly... she's ALWAYS great!!!
Dolly has literally written thousands of songs. She wrote this one in one evening and may have written another the same day. She still has a wicked sense of humor and she just turned 77! Singer, songwriter, actress, producer, director, she does it all in style. She is also a philanthropist, giving to various charities that have special meaning to her. She is one of 12 children and many if her songs draw from personal experience. She has been married to Carl Dean for nearly 58 years! If any star deserves respect, it is Ms Dolly Parton!
She played Miss Mona in the movie version of “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”. They added this song, even though it’s not on the stage version, because it fit so perfectly with the storyline. On the soundtrack she also sang, “Hard Candy Christmas”, which is just as powerful. To me the world stops when I hear her singing it. Do yourself a favor and listen to Miss Dolly sing that! ✨💔✨
Good afternoon Ms.Britt,Yes she wrote that song, she wrote it for her Friend Poter Wagner they had a tv show together and she was leaving it to pursue her career in Music so she wrote it and dedicated it to him, she's definitely an Icon, she's written over 100 song not only her's but for other artists as well, she's been Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and she did feel rite excepting it cause she don't sing that kinda music, she comes from humble beginnings and has done so much for so many people, she donated a million dollars to go towards the covid research when it first hit,and like you she's my idol, I'm from Lafayette Georgia 🍑 and my Father was Inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame back in the late 80's and when we we're young and even after I left home,Mine and his song was..Coat of many colors...he'd play his guitar and I'd sing, I miss my Dad, he passed away 4yrs ago, He was and always will be my Hero, Thank You for your reaction and I hope you have a blessed day 🙏
Dolly has had 25 # 1 hit songs and 41 top 10 country albums. She has penned over 3,000 songs and this is one of them. She crossed over from the countyr charts to the pop charts many times with her great story telling. Dolly is also a great actress. In her movie "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" this song rose to the top of the charts for the 2nd time in 1982 long before Whitney's version. I loved Whitney's when it came out because I always loved the song. Both versions are fantastic and have completely different vibes. IMO, Whitney was the greatest singer in my lifetime. Angelina has sung this twice. Once when she was 1 and a half years old in her crib (there is a video of it) and again at 11 years old practicing with her guitarist. Here is the 11 yo rehearsal: ua-cam.com/video/eml4tIAqWUY/v-deo.html Hope to see your reaction !!
Here are some of Dolly's biggest hits: Coat of Many Colors, 9 to 5, Jolene, Me and Little Andy, 2 Doors Down, Islands in the Stream with Kenny Rogers. These are all great stories.
Dolly wrote this song in 1974 as a way to tell Porter Wagoner that she needs to leave the show when he would not let her out of her contract after 7 years. Elvis wanted to record it but his manager wanted half the publishing rights and Dolly said no. Smartest move she made. A number of other artists covered the song including Linda Ronstadt as did Whitney for the movie "The Bodyguard" Dolly is an iconic American treasure. Not only has she been producing number 1 country hits for 30+ years, but she has been producing number 1 hits for multiple artists for just as long. She is just as good a person as she is a songwriter. She set up the Imagination Library which gives free books to children (over 100M free books so far) as well as helped people in Tennessee after the hurricanes and wildfires ravaged the area. She has been awarded with the National Medal of the Arts (the highest honor the US Government gives for the arts), inducted into the Country Hall of Fame, 11 Grammy awards, written over 3000 songs, and most recently donated over $1M towards COVID vaccine research development. I look forward to watching you discover her talent.
Dolly is one of the most accomplished women of all time. Incredible actress and singer. But she also started several successful companies and even an amusement park. Then she goes homes a cooks dinner. To this day, she still loves to cook. And always with grace and a smile. She is a super woman, an inspiration for all, and an incredible human being.
She wrote this to her mentor, friend and boss as she decided to strike out on her own. He didn't want her to leave but she wanted to grow and do something new. So she wrote this song because he was hurt and angry.
I saw Dolly give an interview where she was asked what she thought about how Whitney performed HER song in the Bodyguard and Dolly said that 'I will always love you' is Whitney's song now. She is an unequaled human and a humanitarian.
Dolly sang this song like a beautiful, sweet song bird 🐦. Whitney sang it like a screaming eagle 🦅. Two completely different renditions of this song, but both are equally as moving to me. 👌
Yes, she wrote it for Porter Waggoner. She was on his weekly show for years and wanted to leave and he didn't want her to. He wouldn't to her, so she wrote it in this song.
She is quite the little songbird isn't she? And yes that's her song and she has written hundreds of songs; she is a brilliant songwriter Check out one of hers that she wrote as a younger woman and sang in 1967 on a television appearance when she was much younger than this by far. It is so impressive and I can't get it out of my head once I ever think about it. It's called Dumb Blonde and if you search for that title with the word live after it it will be the first result that comes up.
Yes Dolly Wrote the song. A Little Back Story, Dolly wanted Elvis to sing this song and Elvis wanted to sing it, but his Manager stepped in demanded 50% of the songs Royalties and blew up the deal Elvis and Dolly had discussed, so Dolly had to turn it down. She said she Cryed herself to sleep that night cause she was a huge Elvis fan and she really wanted to hear him sing her song. This was after Priscilla and Elvis Seperated. Priscilla said Elvis sang her this song after their Divorce was final.
One of the great moments in Grammy history came when Dolly stood at the dais in 1994 and had the opportunity to award the Best Song of the Year Grammy to Whitney Houston for her own phenomenal version of I Will Always Love You.
American treasure. Glad you watched this old version from 70s my favorite. I adore her. Big hearted lady philanthropist too in her community. Love from South Florida from a 41blk dude muahhhhh Dolly 😘😘😘😘
Yes, Dolly did write this song! She wrote it for her cohost as she was leaving the show which he was not happy about but this was her goodbye to him. And you are correct. She is an amazing icon! Dolly for president!
"I Will Always Love You" is a song written and originally recorded in 1973 by American singer-songwriter Dolly Parton. Written as a farewell to her business partner and mentor Porter Wagoner, expressing Parton's decision to pursue a solo career,[1] the country single was released in 1974. The song was a commercial success for Parton, twice reaching the top spot of Billboard Hot Country Songs: first in June 1974, then again in October 1982, with a re-recording for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas soundtrack.
Great reaction. She did write this song the same day she wrote jolene. Here are some Dolly recommendations Hello god (written after 9/11) Light of a clear blue morning(gospel) Jolene(country) 9-5(about the working class) Coat of many colors(about growing up poor) The seeker(gospel) Traveling thru(soundtrack for a movie about a trans woman) Here you come again(pop) Islands in the stream (pop) She’s really the greatest songwriter ever.
An even earlier song Dolly wrote is "Don't Let It Trouble Your Mind" [not quite as sweet as this one, but with incredibly smart lyrics]. It's also fun to hear Rhiannon Giddens' sassy version of it.
Dolly WROTE this song for her partner Porter Wagner, who she was leaving to go it on her own…she sold song to Whitney Houston was in her movie..Im old so Ive loved it since Dolly 1st sang it..she wrote tons of great songs..
Dolly didn't just sing it first, she wrote it. And she LOVES Whitney's version. I had the distinct pleasure of working for Dolly and getting to meet her and talk with her. And she is super sweet, but also a firecracker and absolutely hilarious to be around.
I'm so glad you reacted to this song and I know people want to try to say who sang it best or whatever but I've got to say Dolly Parton wrote from her heart and her experiences and she wrote this song and she delivered it the way she meant it when she wrote it... Thank you for the 👋🙏❤️
I’m so impressed with you. You seem like such a truly genuine and sweet person. The world needs more people like you in it! Thank you for sharing your precious loving heart with us.
Dolly Parton wrote this song. Whitney Houston was 11 when Dolly wrote this. Check out Dolly's "Here To The Moon and Back" and "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind".
Perhaps the greatest song ever written. Dolly #1 on country charts 1974, 1982 recorded for movie #1 on country chart, 95?, duo with Vince Gill, charted #15 and won Grammy for best performance by duo or group, Whitney 1992 #1 hot 100 spending a record 14 weeks at #1, 2012 upon death #1 hot 100. Sarah Washington version was her highest charting hit, Rik Waller reached #6 on UK charts, a medley including this song was created for the County Music association 50th anniversary reached #1 on County charts.
Dolly is a class act, after this went down she bailed him out of bankruptcy she truly meant she would always love him, bailed him out twice, bought his music catalog and gave it back to him
Another great review. Thank you. I really appreciate your consistent praise or “flowers” for Dolly in other videos. Something I want to mention is that for years she has pourer back into her community through school, business, and community donations. Her businesses employee thousands and she treats them like family. She is a true hero to so many and she doesn’t get enough praise for her efforts.
There was a time that the local TV stations had their own programming (other than football) that had a lot of country shows on such as Hee Haw, Grand Ole Opry and several summer shows. Bobbie Gentry, Statler Brothers and few other country singers performed. I remember seeing Dolly on her own show. She used to sing this as an end song. When Dolly heard Whitney singing the song, she wasn't jealous but knew would be getting royalties. She didn't realize just how much. Dolly has written like Stapleton songs for other celebrities.
Dolly wrote this song for Porter Wagoner, her partner when they were not going to be musical partners any more. I saw Dolly Parton in person when I was a teenager. She was signing autographs for fans at a union hall in Lima, Ohio. It was great! It would have been in the late 60's. My cousin was with me. He thought it was great too!
You should visit Dollywood in Piegon Forge TN. She has her own theme park and it's wonderful. It's like a smaller version of Disney, but with much more country charm. Very close by is her resort called Dream more. What a beautiful place with some great Dolly history.
Dolly had a number 1 hit on 2 different occasions with this song, which she wrote on the same night she wrote Jolene. She also recorded it with Vince Gill, which is my favorite version.
She did write it! And your assessment of it being "sweet" is spot on. Dolly wrote this not for a lover, but her musical partner who she had a hit tv show with (one of those musical comedy hour ones that were so big in the 60's and 70's). He was the well known one, and he took a chance in bringing her on as a sort of sidekick. But then she started getting bigger than him. It started hurting the show and their friendship. So, for herself BUT also for him, she decided to leave the show. But she didn't want him to feel unappreciated or rejected. She genuinely wanted to tell him she would always be so grateful for his help, because without she wouldn't have become as famous as she did, as fast as she did. And she would always love him for that. But it works really well as a love song, and that how Whitney sang it. So that's why Dolly's sounds so much more innocent and sweet, and Whitney's is full of passion. 2 great but different sides of love.
This song was written and sung by Dolly Parden in the early 70's and won awards back then. This song is Dolly's song and was remade years later for the movie The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston.
Whitney Houston's rendition of "I Will Always Love You" is an absolute masterpiece. Her powerful and emotive voice fills every note of this classic love song with such passion and tenderness that it's hard not to be moved to tears. From the moment Whitney starts to sing, her voice takes you on an emotional journey. Her soulful and powerful vocals deliver each verse with such conviction that you can't help but feel the depth of her emotions. When she reaches the chorus, her voice soars to incredible heights, creating a beautiful and uplifting moment that makes you feel like anything is possible. What sets Whitney Houston's performance of this song apart from others is her ability to convey the meaning and depth of the lyrics through her voice. Her vocal range and control are truly remarkable, and she uses these abilities to add a unique and personal touch to every note she sings. "I Will Always Love You" is a timeless classic, and Whitney Houston's version is the epitome of a perfect love song. Her voice is full of warmth and tenderness, and her delivery is heartfelt and genuine. It's no wonder that this song has become a favorite of so many people and has stood the test of time as a true classic. In short, Whitney Houston's performance of "I Will Always Love You" is a beautiful and unforgettable moment in music history that will continue to touch the hearts of people for generations to come.
Overall, Dolly Parton is a beautiful and inspiring person who has touched the lives of countless people with her music, her generosity, and her kind and compassionate spirit. She is truly a national treasure and an icon of American culture.
Dolly has never sold any of her music, kept the rights to all of it. Smart woman. She loves Whitney's version of this song and said she was driving by herself when she heard it and had to pull over, she was brought to tears. When Whitney won the Grammy for her performance of this, Dolly was the presenter along with David Foster (who was the arranger on the recording).
..."Class of 76"...Dolly wrote this song as a good by to Porter Wagoner as she was leaving his show after 7 years...This was it's introduction to the world...Years later after Whitney covered it Dolly was ask how she liked the way Whitney sang her song...Dolly immediately replied that..."She sings it perfectly and every time she does it makes me lots of money" From the 1st royalties received from Whitney, Dolly has donated every penny to the poor or inner city neighborhoods of Memphis....

She wrote this song and in the same year she wrote “Jolene.” Elvis wanted to record “I will always love you,” but Colonel Tom Parker told her it was standard procedure for the song writer to sign over half of the publishing rights. Dolly refused.
Dolly Parton wrote that for Porter Wagoner. They had a variety show together in the early 60s. It was called the Porter Wagoner show. During their time together Porter Wagner was falling in love with Dolly Parton. But Dolly Parton was already married. So when Dolly left the show and her contract she wrote that song for Porter Wagoner. Telling him how much she loved him and care for him for everything he's done for her. Porter Wagoner help Dolly Parton get to where she's at today.
Love, love, love this song! It's actually on the soundtrack from the movie "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" with Dolly and Burt Reynolds. Dolly is the Queen of Country! ❤
Dolly Parton recalled "crying all night" after rejecting Elvis Presley in early 1970s after he requested to cover her song I Will Always Love You. The Jolene hitmaker, 77, was approached by the King of Rock's team who said Elvis wanted to record a version - young Dolly was understandably delighted.Jan 19, 2023
Dolly wrote it and sang it beautifully, Whitney made it Iconic and has the best cover of it. The second best cover of this song is Josh Weathers at The Kessler Theater in Dallas, Texas! This is the hill I will die on.
If you haven't done so yet, you need to listen to the original version of this song that Dolly sang on the Porter Wagner Show for the first time that she is referring to here, "Dolly Parton - I will always love you (1974)". This was the first time she ever sang it and it was written to be sang to Porter on their show and you can even see Porter in this version. He came and sat beside her when she finnished the song and told her, "you sang it just sorta like you mean it too". And she looked him in the eyes and said, "Well I really did sorta mean it". That moment was priceless.
In high school, I used to watch the "Porter Wagoner" show. Never much cared for Porter, but Dolly was a regular on his show and I remember thinking back in the 1960s that she really knew how to fill a shirt.
^ ^ I love Rock/Country myths .... So the story is that Dolly Parton wrote " I will always love you" and "Joline" on the same day.... I really.... want that to be true maybe it isnt but Dolly Parton is an American icon! Foxy Love fae Scotland VVxx
Dolly wrote this song when she was leaving The Porter Wagoner Show. He was upset to lose her, and she wanted him to know she was not trying to hurt him. She first sang this song on his TV show. It worked. He felt the love.
Didn't work well enough to prevent him from suing her after she left. He resented her for years afterwards, finally reconciling in his last years when she helped him out financially.
@@cjpreach She left his show in 1974. In 1979 he sued her for $3 million for "breach of contract" because he said her leaving cost him tour dates and reduced his income. They reconciled when he was in hospice. Google "Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner feud".
FYI, to clarify others’ remarks here. Porter Wagoner was a huge country star whose TV show ran from 1960 till 1980. In ’67, he hired teenage Dolly as a regular. Dolly became popular from that show and when her 5 year contract ran out, she opted to leave and go out on her own. From what I recall reading, she wrote this song as a goodbye to him. You’ve picked a much later and weaker version of this classic. In its original, it stands up very well against Whitney’s later cover.
Yes, you recalled correctly. After the split, Porter Wagener run into financial difficulties and had to sell his complete Music collection from over the years, giving up all his rights to any royalties he would have made from it. Dolly found this out and bought his collection and gifted it back to him with the ability to collect the royalties as well.
This is the original version. This is the video from the Porter Wagner Show recorded in early 1974. She actually had been with Porter Wagner seven years at this point (although only obligated for five)
@@gk5891 By original, I'm referring to the original studio RECORDING to point out that it truly compares with the Whitney Houston version which was also recorded in a studio and is the version most people know.
@@KieranSaighir 'compares'? Whitney's version is filled with needless vocal gymnastics to show her voice rather than convey emotion like Dolly manages.

Whitney's version made your marvel at her voice. She was incredible. Dolly's made you feel the song. She could convey to emotion through her voice.
HATED Whitney's version always will.
Love this song. My favorite is “Coat of Many Colors”. Might make you cry is so beautiful. Thanks for the reaction and give county a try. Thanks
Definitely going to cry.
Do the live version from the BBC ✌️
Dolly is an absolute national treasure! She has a down to Earth kindness and such a caring heart.
Dolly is a living, breathing, singing angel. When I hear her sweet voice, I cry. The absolute best singer of all time because she embodies the kind, loving, wonderful words she uses in her songs. 💜💙💛💚❤💋!!
Dolly is one of only a few artists who can be called an all-time great, she has it all a great voice, entertainer, songwriter, music composer, story teller, and never seems to take herself seriously, by that I mean she has a great sense of humour which I just love. thx for another great reaction.
you for Humanitarian
Yes Dolly wrote it.❤️
Dolly wrote “I Will Always Love You” and “Jolene” the same day.
It’s like they only pay attention to the chorus. It’s hilarious actually.
Dolly did it sweet. Whitney did it powerful. Both awesome
I grew up with Dolly's version, but I adore Whitney's version. Both gifted in different ways.
So many have no idea that Dolly Parton wrote this song. In many interviews Whitney said before she released her version she sent it to Dolly first to get her blessing, cuz it was her song.
At least she didn't die in the toilet face ace down from cocaine huh?
Dolly is a prolific songwriter who gave a lot of her songs to other artists - She is a true icon.
More recently, Dolly recorded this with Vince Gill. Their harmonies are so beautiful.
I love both versions of this song. Dolly's and Whitney's studio versions have their own different uniqueness to them.
She sure did write that song and nearly 3,000 others. Im glad you liked it. She's been one of my favorite artists all my life.
I get shivers when I hear her sing this song! I can relate to this in my own life and the way she sings it, goes straight to the heart.
When Dolly sing this song, it's like she's singing it to you! When Whitney Houston sung this song, it was like she was singing to the world!
And yes that's her song and she has written hundreds of songs; she is a brilliant songwriter
Check out one of hers that she wrote as a younger woman and sang in 1967 on a television appearance when she was much younger than this by far.
Never get tired of watching people reacting to Dolly. Good job, subscribed!
What a beautiful memory from your dear grandmother. You are so lovely and just beautiful.❤
Beyond her music, her humanitarian outreach and love and courage standing up for the alleged "least" of us, aka survivors.
Great reaction. She did write this song the same day she wrote jolene. Here are some Dolly recommendations
Hello god (written after 9/11)
Light of a clear blue morning(gospel)
Jolene(country)
9-5(about the working class)
Coat of many colors(about growing up poor)
The seeker(gospel)
Traveling thru(soundtrack for a movie about a trans woman)
Here you come again(pop)
Islands in the stream (pop)
She’s really the greatest songwriter ever.
An even earlier song Dolly wrote is "Don't Let It Trouble Your Mind" [not quite as sweet as this one, but with incredibly smart lyrics]. It's also fun to hear Rhiannon Giddens' sassy version of it.
I love all her music, but “I Am A Seeker” and “The Grass is Blue” are my favorites!
Another powerful song is Down from Dover
What about the the one with Queen Latifah? Really random movie
Thank you for the 👋🙏❤️
Do;;y Parton is one of the Greatest country singers of all time. Yes she wrote this song. Sunflowers & Sass said it beautifuly
I’m so impressed with you. You seem like such a truly genuine and sweet person. The world needs more people like you in it! Thank you for sharing your precious loving heart with us.
Dolly Parton is a GOAT! She is a QUEEN! & She WROTE the song!
She was the first to sing it because she wrote it! Good back story between Dolly and Whitney over this song for the picture The Bodyguard.
You should also listen to her "duet" of her song "Joline" with Pentatonix just a few years ago (in her 70's). She's still amazing. Peace, Love!!
Dolly is a class act, after this went down she bailed him out of bankruptcy
she truly meant she would always love him, bailed him out twice, bought his music catalog and gave it back to him
It's been 10 days. I have always loved Dolly's version. Brought me to tear's.
Dolly did write this song. I bought the 45 RPM vinyl single record of this over 45 years ago. I still have it and play it.
My very first crush dedicated this song to me over 30 years ago and this version always makes me pause and think about her
I liked it when Dolly first sang it. but I really liked it when Whitney did it. Both personalities, styles and voices are Icons
2 great but different sides of love.
you are missing out if you never listen to Dolly Parton, she has a lot of good songs and she is just entertaining and a lovable person.
This song was written and sung by Dolly Parden in the early 70's and won awards back then. This song is Dolly's song and was remade years later for the movie The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston.
Dolly had a variety show on TV back in the day. She closed out every show with this song; and yes, Dolly wrote it.
Dollys version of her own song brings tears to my eyes. And Dolly wrote it
Sf
Ellen my name e issteve I was born in 1955. Yes from my early years I was into music. After woodcock so many artists came out with magical songs. I enjoy watching reactions from you er generations who are not to scared to be embarrassed about listening ing to the sounds of the 70s. I noticed you were kinda liken country. I see you like a story behind a song. Here's one it's called country bumkin by cal Smith. Trust me you will love it.Thankyou again for appreciating my generation, By the way it was so cool living back then.
I just love the original Dolly version the most. It has all the feels
Wow this reaction is saved, so I can share it to my loved ones to enjoy your reaction. Specially because of your sharing your experience with your baby, where you reveal how caring and wonderful you are.
Yes, this is all Dolly! She is a national treasure!💖🙏🏻
Love your reactions, especially your interest in Angelina Jordan, in my opinion the best singer ever. Can I suggest that you listen to Angelina's cover of this song? I think she was 11 years old at the time, jamming with her uncle in her attic studio. Subscribed
So much more emotion in this original Dolly song and she loved getting all the royalties from the Whitney cover.
This is why she invested a lot of those in a Black neighborhood.
Dolly don't only sing it but she writes and composed the song she was and still in comparable
She never sings this the same way twice. Little changes here and there but always authentic and real.
@@hectorsmommy1717 Wow. Not the story I heard. But, oh well.
@@cjpreach She left his show in 1974. In 1979 he sued her for $3 million for "breach of contract" because he said her leaving cost him tour dates and reduced his income. They reconciled when he was in hospice. Google "Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner feud".
@@hectorsmommy1717 Wow. Okay.
@@michaelmarrone8753 Thanks for that Michael. That's a great story and one I've never even heard a peep about.
I love the version when she sang to wagoner and on the movie with Burt Reynolds. It's Dwyer to me with dolly because she sing it from the heart. Natural.
