her live performances of this on The Drowned World Tour, Re-InVention Tour, Sticky and Sweet Tour, Madame X Tour and Celebration Tour are all amazing and yes its her and Donna Delory and Niki Haris as the background vocals
The most beautiful break in a song ever with so many layers perfectly intertwined. William Orbit is a genius and then paired with the visual artistry or Chris Cunningham makes this just a piece of art
Madonna just transcends time and fads. She is truly the queen of pop. The art that she has blessed us with over 40 years should be more celebrated. Absolutely love her
When I came home from college in 1999 and saw this video for the first time, my mind was blown!! It's the first song on my 90s playlist! Favorite Madonna song!
I don't know what I am more impressed with, your appreciation of the amazing production on this one, (it was produced William Orbit by the way) or the fact you know a group of crows are called murder 😂
Yes, she's doing the humming in the song. Also, it's a late 90's song which is why the screen format is in full frame. (Squard as you called it). Back then, wide-screen wasn't a huge thing yet. 😂
Frozen is one of my favorite songs by Madonna. Haunting, she sang it so well. And yes she is doing her own background vocals at the end mixing high and low (soprano and alto). The video still looks great to this day. Song came out in 1998. I would recommend you review Vogue, Ray of Light, and Express Yourself. Even Like A Prayer. Love your reactions!!
She had two amazing back up singers, Donna and Niki that could effortlessly blend with Madonna's Low and high notes. They worked together over many tracks. Check out Madonna- Express Yourself (live at MTV Awards 1989) that is one incredible performance, and you can see how talented all 3 are.
LOVE your reactions (and your kitty!😅)!! Thank you for checking out so much music of my youth. It takes me back, and I love knowing another generation is experiencing such amazing music!
Everytime I hear this song in the wild, I always have to look up KillMrDJs mashup of this, Linkink Park's Numb, and Sia's Alive. It's a faultless mashup and worth listening to.
"I was so obsessed with the movie The Sheltering Sky and that whole Moroccan/orchestral/super-romantic/man-carrying-the-woman-he-loves-across-the-desert vibe. So I told [Patrick Leonard] that I wanted something with a tribal feel, something really lush and romantic. When he started playing some music, I just turned the DAT on and started free-associating and came up with the melody”- Madonna.
She hates that movie. She said Rolling Stone magazine in conversation to Carrie Fisher, in 1991, she loves Paul Bowles book "The Sheltering Sky", but not the cinema version. And as for "Frozen", she actually was inspired by "The English Patient", she told the late interviewer Ingrid Sischy, in 1998, for Vanity Fair.
S.E.X. Got her down quite a bit with critics.....like not sure why either. This song, and this album they COULD NOT deny was a masterpiece from Madonna. And it is a masterpiece of an album.
I was reading that some think this was when she became real spiritual and this video is homage to Hecate the goddess of magic and crossroad. Her symbols are three faces dogs crows and keys. Some say she also embodies the mother maiden Crobe which is when she splits into three women. I dunno but the imagery fits
As a curious American who really wants to go to newfoundland... st. John's,.. gander....etc..from what I've read using the term "newfie" is or used to be an insult from the mainlanders, could you clarify anything about that?
People in Newfoundland are of two minds about it. Some people think it's a insult, it's a way to call someone dumb. While others think it's just a quick world for Newfoundlanders who are silly and easy going. I think its only the older generation that took offense to it. :)
this song is form like 97-98 era.. Quarter Century ago.. As far as I am concerned as an OG fan from the very first album with Lucky Star, Holiday, Burning Up.. this was one of the absolute masterpieces of her career. She only has a few of these powerfful ballad style songs: Crazy For YOu, Live To Tell, Frozen... but she did a brilliant job on them. I dont even know what to make of her in the last decade - but she came out looking poorly when she manifested some bitterness and rivalry toward Gaga. She can't be at the pinnacle forever and should have championed the powerful, follower in her wake. She blazed the trail, and Gaga blew it wide open for many others. Her facial surgeries have done her no favors unfortunately... and her performance at Eurovision a few years back was disastrous.. Heartbreaking for me to see.
What are you talking about. The Eurovision performance was amazing and her face is gorgeous. She’s a true performance artist that will always keep us guessing. She also just performed a concert in Rio last month in front of 1.6 million people live . Queen 👑👑👑
Focus on his music not his face. In the past decade, he released amazing electronic ballads ''Ghosttown'' and ''Falling Free'' but you all are always busy with your physique, when really we are all getting older...

I’d say it’s been a while since I’ve heard this song but , it’s still in my music library on my phone.

Cool reaction, I love how enthusiastic you are and that you can appreciate quality music and great visuals, even though it‘s from 1998.
Everytime I hear this song in the wild, I always have to look up KillMrDJs mashup of this, Linkink Park's Numb, and Sia's Alive. It's a faultless mashup and worth listening to.
