Boise/ Nueve de Julio really hits like a truck at the tier and is often overlooked. The superheal gives the ship a lot more survivability than people give it credit. And the 15x 152mm guns are really accurate and do some very good damage against all target types (AP & HE).

I like Boise a lot, but the range makes it almost impossible to play if you get up-tiered
@@user-xd6jt3dx8p yeah, a lot of American cruisers have short range that make it really tough to be effective.
I'd actually like to see a video of you reviewing what ships are worth purchasing for coal, doubloons and steel. Ships like the Tulsa for instance I have always ignored because it looked extremely average. Now I have more information on it, and it still looks pretty meh, but at least now I have a more informed opinion. Great video, thanks again.

Sure, it's not a "good" ship, and the dispertion kinda sucks. But the combo between concealment / hard hitting torps / zombie heal is actually seen nowhere else.
You will not win against a gunboat, but you can still take on skirmishes, finish low targets, etc. Or take some risks and combe back from the dead (which a Paolo will not do).
A very interesting ship in my opinion.

Good brawler with huge secondaries, decent guns one of my favourite tier 8s, I think PQ could enjoy it with the right matchmaking

The Tulsa is a good ship and worth the coal. You can play her similar to the Des Moines, but more carefully. I have mine configured with Range Mod.
I personally don't see the value in using Tulsa over Buffalo. Or even to bring other coal ships into this, Salem or Brisbane. Sure it's T9, but it's such a massive step down from the power level of the T10s on offer, while being worse than Buffalo in a lot of ways. Now don't get me wrong, Buffalo is painful, low damage output and weak armor. At the same time though, Tulsa has equally low damage output and weak armor, and even with range mod only has slightly more range than a fully upgraded Buffalo that can also be running reload mod.
I'm not trying to say you can't enjoy Tulsa before this gets taken that way, lord knows I enjoy some fairly bad ships but they just kind of click with me(Gascogne, Fenyang just to name a couple), just that I have a bit of an issue with the statement that it's "a good ship and worth the coal", because she is one of the weaker coal ships and kind of not worth it on the grounds that Buffalo is free.
I'd love to see Vanguard. Its really underrated in my opinion

Tulsa is a Baltimore hull with Des Moines guns. It was an option the US navy considered historically to get these auto loading 8-inch guns to the fleet but decided to go with the bigger ship to keep nine guns and auto loading. They were also worried about an auto loading Baltimore running out of shells to quickly.
I think Tulsa should be a tier 8 ship instead of tier 9. With only 6 autoloading barrels she definitely a step behind Salem.
@@hackerjohnt Yeah, or some kind of buff. The Baltimore/Oregon City hull isn't as maneuverable as the larger Des Moines hull, so you don't even have that advantage. A faster reload and/or reload booster would help.
Carnot, the forgotten predecessor to the French Super Heavy Cruiser Line. I dont think that it has been featured yet and it is a T9 Coal Ship Aswell
Nooooo, I swapped it for jap sub I dont recall the name. Carnot is ... I duno, quite bad, not so good guns, awfull manouverability, very large target, etc etc. Dont waste coal on it...

PQ, Tulsa actually has better citadel protection than DM - the citadel is smaller and the magazines have spaced armour.

playing the "lesser known" resource ships is always a good thing for the community. we all get to see the French DD, the Salem, and other often played ships, but we have no idea about these lesser played ships and if they will be a good buy for us or an instant regret.

Honestly my fav thing abt this ship is the dispersion. Compared to the Baltimore, Buffalo, or Des Moines, this thing is laser accurate. Having only 3 twin turrets doesnt matter cause the shells reliably hit where I'm aiming, its wonderful
Would be cool to see how you play Johan de Witt. Got it recently and I am quite confused.
Johan is a beast. Good armor when angled, good guns (not very accurate but still good imo) I have 70% wr in it. And bonus for the best AA for the tier (actually good AA)
I tried to use reload mod but it feels so restricting, so I opted for range mod, it feels way more comfortable. And yeah the AA is real nice, you can actually shit on the CV lol.@@sdluke
On the subject of coal ships, what about the Marco Polo or Groningen? Would love to hear your thoughts on these two.
I like Tulsa, but I basically only use her in modes were I can't be uptiered. No reason to play her if you can play DM in the same mode. Worth noting she's got pretty good kiting angles, you can fire both front guns over the shoulder at 25°

Thet gave us this ship on console for the campaign, I got her, and with my Azur Lane Baltimore, I got 7% better ap pen, 18,3km range and -40% shell arming time, its so great
Orp błyskawica. Shes one of the very first premium ships and under used id say. But shes a man little gun boat.
Tulsa can be a bit iffy in randoms, but it becomes an absolute monster in T9 brawls and ranked. Nice hull with tremendous gun angles.
I’d like to see you play the congress with Halsey, very intrigued as to what a tier 8 Alaska is capable of.

Every time I play my DM, I am focused by a CV. Its hard for me to take this review seriously when there is no CV in the game. Thanks for the video though. I love your vids.

Wow someone actually playing this game. How you able to still have fun in the game ? I came back 6 years later played some random and instantly realize the game turned into a deep shithole and only feeling you can have is torture and pain.
Love the channel but I think I'm done with the game. BB's fear DD's. CA's fear BB's. DD's fear CA's. Subs and Cv's fear nothing. 4 subs in every game I played yesterday. Only took hydro boats ( Lushan, Weimar ) went sub hunting only after I got frustrated fighting invisible opponents. Killed one with Weimar since I had ASW planes. Never got closer than 1k away with Lushan before getting ass torped. All they do is pop up, aquire me, I shoot at em, 1 maybe 2 shells hit, pop torps, ping, dive, I hit RP and dodge. 30 seconds later same thing but no more RP. If it's CV sub working together yur royally fucked.
We have all been there.

Honestly i never saw Tulsa as a good or "recommended" ship
It has just 6 guns at T9, four of which are at the front with 5 sec reload
Simply nothing to write home about,and for the coal price there are just better rewards

Tulsa is one of those ships that on paper just hearing about it, it sounds fun, it sounds good. Then you actually play it and realize it's kind of terrible. You are frontally 50% of a Des Moines, given not only the lack of guns but also the slower reload. As in you are basically a downgrade over Buffalo. You have SLIGHTLY higher frontal DPM, but quite a bit lower DPM overall, as well as a worse radar and Buffalo A hull levels of HP.
Like with how close the frontal DPM is, there is basically nothing a Tulsa can do a Buffalo can't. In practical terms Buffalo's front guns only have around 8k less applied DPM. While Buffalo also has a 10km radar, more HP, and around the same characteristics otherwise.
Tulsa really should have been given Des Moine's radar, OR been given a flat 5 second reload. Suppose they could have also just made the thing a T8. That would solve a lot of my issues with the ship.

Tulsa has the tools, but not the DPM. You really, really notice the lack of barrels on it. I will often push in to support my DDs at the cap, but even with radar, it just struggles to finish off enemy ships. It really needs a small bump to reload...
How about doing tier 9 coal destroyer halford next....there are very few players playing this ship

the dispersion on this ship is really bad. even when you get broadside cruisers at 8km in a turn, you cant do enough damage. i actually sold my tulsa because i hated it so much. no health, no armour, no dpm, just mediocre as hell
