  • A little different, this is a little before and after of a counselling session, thought it would be an idea to catch up before hand and then talk on what came from it really. I am just trying to find why I am like I am tbh.

This is office politics which I HATE! The same thing happens to me all the time because I'm a new joiner and everyone else has been working there for a long time, hence why they allow them to do and say whatever they want. However, when I give them the same treatment, the manager tells me "you're not allowed to talk back because you don't have the same experience as them". 🙄😳😒

its gotta be tough to shoulder 100% of the responsibility etc but man it must be nice only dealing with yourself and customers (if your unlucky enough to need to deal with customers lol)

You come across as a highly sensitive kind good natured person. I’m one as well and so is my son. What I’ve learnt is that a lot of the time people will often take advantage of our good nature and gentle personality and use us to take their frustrations out on because they know we are easy going and sensitive and don’t tend to get angry easily. But we have to learn to get stronger boundaries and recognise when they are being challenged and our easy going natures are being taken advantage of. Even by our own parents sometimes.

I’m really pleased you are having these counselling sessions, and starting to discover some self knowledge. It is so true that our childhood affects us deeply and that we can learn from that. I learnt that what happened to us kids was not our fault and we didn’t choose the way we were raised. But we deserve to vet our relationships in the here and now. We don’t need to just take the poison from toxic people in our lives, especially if they aren’t willing to change

When you spend so much time fighting against the inner-bully that we carry around that tells us all the negative self talk, and someone, especially a close or trusted someone, makes a deep cutting remark, I feel like it puts this tiny grain of sand of self doubt in our identity. One that grows bigger like a pearl and makes us question whether they are right. It’s a tough fight against low self esteem and lots of progress can be undone quickly with a well placed barb.
I appreciate your videos and I get a lot out of them, just want to say that and to wish you a good day.

I don't subscribe to this, what I do is confront them head on and embrace them...they usually have a shred of truth in them but not enough for me to take them to heart, although occasionally a comment that cuts can be something you learn from...they can be eye opening.
You were bullied, they saw a weakness and they picked on it. Keep pressing on, you're an English beast!

British mentality of constantly joking about a simple mistake and not letting it go…. I feel like it’s a chance for those people to release their own dissatisfaction of their weaknesses and problems to get a emotional dopamine hit instead of actually trying understand themselves and fixing the root problem

Workplaces like this are horrible. Where some always stick together and can pick on others but never the other way around. Especially if they are freinds with higher ups. Monitor it and sometimes its best to look for other jobs. Problem is alot of work places are toxic.

It honestly sounds like your work colleagues are gaslighting you. 'Banter' is two-way, that everybody involved can enjoy and goes both ways. It sounds as though your work colleagues aren't good people and they're dumping their rubbish onto you or acquiring sadistic pleasure by being passive aggressive. If it's the latter, it's a good chance they're also bored and emotionally immature to appropriately handle their feelings of boredom. Toxic work environments are a thing.

Changing your beliefs is really hard. BUT.. changing the "normal" around you aren't actually that hard, it just takes time.
They say you are the average of the five people you interact with the most. And that's something that in the long run we can change.
I do that with the media I'm consuming, I know it affects me, so I choose to listen more to stuff that align with where I want to go.
Lately (~3years) I been more into starting some sort of business, so I listen into that stuff much more than "what I'm really interested in".
I do that to change my normal. I did move 2 years ago.. again, to change my normal. I moved around furniture in my living room, so working space becomes default when entering the room.
I swapped watching TV for watching UA-cam and try to not watch just entertainment but watch things that improves my mental state or ingrains the business part.
I have changed my normal.. over the last 5-7 years.

Also, you apologising is giving them permission to continue the behaviour in the future but then you would presumably lose your job if you don't apologise. It sounds as though you'll be walking on eggshells and any small mistake will be highlighted again and again which obviously isn't good. Just my interpretations mate.

It's interesting to hear you talking about how your experiences as a kid have influenced how you are today. I don't disagree with that, but how much do you blame genetics for your problems? I remember exhibiting traits like shyness and paranoia in the first few years of my life, but there were no standout events up to then that caused them.

    • @Add-
      @Add-  5 місяців тому +1

This is an interesting take, the issue i have is how can you really split the difference between nature (genetics) and nurture (the upbringing influence) my problem is as I am today I see so much of my farther in who I am, but I dont know of thats a genetics thing, or if its his influence

I’m struggling to imagine any banter you can really get from someone tapping a van with a car door… “open car doors much?”. 😂 these people sound bored and very uncreative if this event is on their mind the whole week!

Though it does sound like you’ve been screwed over a little and maybe had your good nature taken advantage I can relate to your sensitivity to stuff like this. There are many (lucky) people out there who would take a “water off a ducks back” approach to an incident like this. I am not one lol and I suspect you’re the same.

Hi Adam، its not easy for me to write these words here for you، and am not sure you would read it or not، I found your channel through search and keywords related to my deep bitter feelings about how my life has been and had became lately، what I write here is not rant or saying me too or trying to convince you that I feel for you. I would like to watch all of your videos ، i have seen the first one and the video commentary on that first one and this one. I am a 42 years old male Iranian، a third world country with lots of limitations and social awkwardness and real unfair situations، I am a software engineer with living conditions a lot like you ، but that's not my point. I just gave some background about me، so you can imagine who is talking with you somehow. I related a lot to your choice of words، feelings in your facial expressions and also your tone of voice. There are lots of things I can write here but this medium is not for that. You are a logical person، kinda fair and it seems you like me review situations backward and forward like a video review multiple times over in your experiences with outer world. I want to ask you for 2 things if you dont mind، and I know it might feel none of my business asking them، please do continue uploading your videos and at some point in the future do not think its of no use، it is of valuable use، because you show reality of living this awkward societal norms and awkwardness in the world. Second thing if possible or if you are willing to is being able to chat with you on a more appropriate medium like whatsapp or telegram if you dont mind. I am not after gaining something from you or having some hidden agenda that backlash sometime in the future. I am trying to make contact and build a kind of friendship from a distance and in a limited world with a like minded person and someone I can understand and have shared feelings... If you agree let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for your words and for reaching out. I have an email address on my channels page that might be a little more appropriate if you wish. But this is only visible is you use an Internet browser (the UA-cam app doesn't show it) to access it, if you go to my channel, next to my profile picture is some text, you should be able to click that text and it will give a drop down box that should have an email address.
      Best wishes
