- @thereluctantoutdoorsman Apologies to my regular viewers as this is not a walking video, the type of video that makes up the majority of my channel's content. Today's video is the second one I've made highlighting the cost of an every day shop in Jersey, Channel Islands. I detail the prices of shops in three supermarkets in the island on a variety of items. I made this video after receiving requests to do so from people living abroad who were considering moving to the island, but who had no idea of how much things cost here!
😲 Wow Tom and Paddy 🐕🥩 and the ⭐ Angie the prices are very high probably due to import I hope this lot lasts for a month 🤔 anyway I'll give you both a drink on me 🍾 for ⭐ and for you Tom 🍺 and for Paddy 🥩🐕 great video my friend carnt wait for the flapjacks lol 🤔 all the best John 😊😊😊
Ha ha! Too late my friend I've eaten all the flapjacks! 😮🫢 Not too good for the heart I think - loads of butter, golden syrup and sugar, but what do they say? - Y.O.L.O.!!! 😁😁😁😁
Hi Tom as a Cider drinker myself 🤓 I buy Blackthorn reserve from Iceland 3 litre bottle which is 5 pints ask ⭐ Angie the next time to check out the price if they have it in stock it's £5 40 here all the best m8 John 😊
Hi John, Callum only drinks cider and he's a thirsty lad! I'll check it out mate. Cheers! 🍺🍺🍺🍺
you need to take the wife to Specsavers if she thinks Iceland is expensive compared to M&S. I just did my weekly shop there for less than £70. that includes a cheese cake, tub of ice-cream, 2 x 2Lt of fizzy pop and a couple of tubes of Pringles. where as you bought 1 meal from M&S (Pizza) and a few bits and it cost you over £50.
you really need to do a like for like of home brands from the 3 supermarkets to see the real difference.
Hi Jean, I thought I was done with the cost of living videos, but I do like your suggestion of doing a like for like from the three supermarkets - so may well do one more! Cheese cake, ice cream and fizzy pop........sounds like you are a man after my own heart! 😁😁😁😁
Hi Tom and Angie, I'm very tempted to do a "virtual" shop of the items you bought. We have two major shopping companies, Coles and Woolworths, a relatively new company called Aldi (much more limited no. of lines and you have to rattle through the checkout - I've never seen the girls move them so fast! and pack them yourself at another counter) I just cannot move that fast!!! and an independent group of smaller supermarkets called IGA. It might just be a first impression, but I feel your food prices are very reasonable. Currently our tomatoes are nearly $8.00/Kg and the small cherry tomatoes $16/Kg. Free range eggs are about $7-$8/doz. Fortunately my first cherry tom is a day from being ripe enough to pick. A 1kg block of cheese is about $17/kg. If I do get around to doing it, the current rate of exchange is 1 pound sterling = AU$ 1.91. If nothing else it will be an interesting exercise.
Ha ha, Kate you'll have to practice "speed bagging" if you are going to head back to Aldi.😁😁😁 Unfortunately we still don't have an Aldi or Lidl over here. Shame, as when we still had our place in France we would always head into those stores to stock up on goodies before heading back on the boat!
@@thereluctantoutdoorsman to tell the truth ... we only have one supermarket in Jersey, as they are all owned by the monopoly called Sandpiper. hence why we don't have Aldi or Lidl.
Yes, you are not wrong Jean.....they have Iceland, Morrisons Daily and Marks & Spencer amongst a bunch of other brands! 👍🏻
Hey friend 👋🏿👋🏿🙏🏿🇰🇪

Hi, good to hear from you again. I did speak to two of the Kenyan ladies at the golf club and one of them noted down the name of my channel and was going to try to contact you. That was some time ago though, so I will try and ask again the next time I see her! 👍🏼
