Seems like really tough to survive for a family in Belgium considering the 50% tax and rent and other expenses. It feels like savings in India seems better
I recently moved to Portugal and realize same. It is true that we can save more in India. But basically we save for kids education, health and retirement. With social security in European countries all these are free. and because of that even if you save less in these countries, it makes sense.

The dryer prices are 1.50€ for 10 minutes. Regarding bikes, the locals are used to riding them in all weathers. Unless the weather is extremely bad, bikes can be used

A fully furnished house is definitely more expensive, especially if it comes with washing machine and dryer. Cities like Antwerpen, certain areas are very expensive
