A Utah DPS mechanic saved a family who was stuck on I-15

- Steve Matheson is one of the mechanics with Utah’s Division of Aeronautics who make sure the state’s planes and helicopters are ready to go when someone needs help. So, when he saw a problem while driving on Interstate 215 last month, when a car was stopped in the middle of afternoon rush hour traffic near 4100 South in Taylorsville, it was natural for him to want to help.
Can you imagine being this pure of heart that you would, for one even notice them, and two be willing to sacrifice your vehicle and your own safety to protect a family of strangers!? Wonder if there’s a go fund me to get him a new truck? If not there should be.

The small car was stopped by what they said, so he never caused anything other than if a car was going into the back of his car they would have gone into the small car and his truck has a larger crumble zone and basically means his truck get wrecked and no the family car with a smaller crumble zone with kids in much greater danger had he not been there.

I was one of two small children along with a person in a wheelchair in a van in the 70s that stalled on a hill in san francisco and my mom was stuck holding the brake. A couple guys just like this guy showed up, directed traffic and pushed us with their vehicle to a safe place. Thank you everyday heros

A great fear of mine too! I almost REFUSED to drive in San Francisco ever.
That was so much more come place back in the 70's. I too was a child then and people would always be seen helping others stranded. Sometimes you'd see a couple of different strangers belong out sometime needing assistance. Q; what happened to us? I'm always so surprised by ppl zooming past a broken down car. Nobody wants to get involved.
I pass a car that was sitting in the middle of the interstate. It is like they just parked it there. I was looking ahead and I seen probably 30 cars going around it. When I call 911 they asked me are you sure? No one else had bothered to call in this emergency 🦺. This man realized it or not was prepared to sacrifice his life to save these people. All for people who did not know. Definitely a hero 💪💪💪👍👍🇺🇲

@@nellosnook4454 the vehicle was stopped and in a precarious situation, and that truck prevented that car from being slammed the truck could take it a lot more than the car so therefore he did save those children.

Are you sure he didn't cause it? If they were in the far left lane broken down, and the truck parked behind...its possible the guy in the truck tried to protect them by blocking a small amount of the right lane by not going fully into the left lane...to make people give a wider berth.
Damage to the right side rear bumper. I say check the skid marks of truck so you know where it was parked.

It's actually God's small quiet voice. Its that inaudible voice in your head that comes from nowhere to inform you of something that normally you'd care little about. You can always differentiate God's thoughts in your head from your own by how quickly they enter. It's hard to explain, but through time you can learn the difference between your thoughts and God's.

Had a full 18 wheeler pull in behind us when our bus our team was travelling on died. He said he couldn't live with himself if something happened to us on the side of that road. He waited 2 hours, probably delaying his load, so that we could get on a new bus safely. So much respect for some people who are selfless. Thanks to this guy too.

As a Trucker, those 2 hours definitely delayed his load. A lot of places have an appointment system for deliveries. If you're late 30 minutes you have to take the next available appointment, which is usually the next day at best.
It's so nice to hear the good deeds instead of the bad ones. I watch a lot of true crime, and I have to unplug sometimes. I don't know how law enforcement and medical people handle it day after day.

And believe me you can't believe how stupid some people are driving a disabled semi or a car and they'll still be driving 90 miles an hour by and almost clobber you. I had a sheriff car get hit that was trying to direct traffic buy a semi. The a****** was drunk and all hopped up on dope. They got them. It was a wonder nobody got hurt. Like I said total kudos for protecting those people dude

@BigBoii1369 You can't just predict facts. The first problem with this story is the claim, "If someone hit him, the damage will be a lot less than hitting the smaller car." That's just an assumption. Not fact. Nobody knows what would have happened and quite honestly... the damage on that truck isn't even bad. Looks like a small car hit the truck and went under the rear of the truck, hitting the axle. This is because the truck was higher than the car that hit him. That being said, you don't know what would have happened. Yall just assuming the worse to create more sympathy for a more dramatic story. 💀

Growing up, my father told me NO ONE does anything selflessly....that everything a person does benefits them somehow. I didn't believe him THEN and this guy PROVES I was right not to believe that b.s. THIS is what heroes are made of...doing something SOLELY for the benefit of another, a true selfless act.

I think what your dad was trying to say, and what I also believe, is yes, you can do something and expect nothing in return. I do it all the time. But what you DO get is knowing you did the right thing. You get the satisfaction or self-respect that feels good knowing you did well. So glad no one was seriously hurt but how could the car that hit them not see these two cars is beyond me. The only thing is dislike about it here is the pisspoor incompetent drivers!

It's usually older people who are from a different generation and time period that know how to act like people used to act in America. Although I am pleasantly surprised when I see heroic stories and the person is under 30 years old too.. there are some gems in other Generations as well.
