    I’m a truck driver and I think that is absolutely amazing I was looking for some good screens for my truck I’ll spend time in LA and it’s quite hot in the summer and there’s no idling allowed so I need to come up with something and you just solve my problem thank you so much

    • @VantasticPacifica
      @VantasticPacifica  3 роки тому +2

      You're quite welcome. I used to have window vents for my truck and it was very useful because I didn't like to idle the engine either. If you don't feel like making these yourself, I know they have window screens available for the Freightliner Cascadia and the Volvos but I'm not sure where to get them or how much they cost.

    Shocking! I can't believe it's handmade - it looks factory made! Well done!

    Very nice job. One thing to fix the gap is to cut through the corrugated part. So the window glass slides between the two sides of the vent if that makes sense.

    • @VantasticPacifica
      @VantasticPacifica  3 роки тому +2

      Yeah, I get it. That's not a bad idea. But I'm worried that might weaken the structure of the corrugated plastic leaving a couple of flaps dangling that get smashed if the window doesn't slide in between them perfectly or when I store it. But keep the ideas coming. Who knows what's possible.😊

    Interesting. You could probably attach some computer case fans to the vents and get some low power air movement going too.

    • @VantasticPacifica
      @VantasticPacifica  3 роки тому +3

      My first design was something like that. I was going to stuff USB fans inside of 2 inch foam board and put that in the window which still could be a good idea. But I'll let someone else try it.

      Awesome! Thank you!
      I would also consider taking a look at recent model Caravans with the bench seat in the middle. They are very easy to remove and you still have the stow and go space under the floor. The only downside is you have to find a place to store your bench seat until you get back. Also the car doesn't have as many high-tech gadgets as the Pacifica but I promise you won't miss them and the car is considerably less expensive.
      Hey, didn't you used to have a UA-cam video? Or am I thinking of a different Monna from New Jersey?

      Yeah that was an unscripted moment that I was going to edit out. But then I said screw it. Leave it in.
      Thanks for the weather stripping idea, but the problem happens when the door opens or closes. Anything in the path gets smashed and destroyed. A cloth fringe worked but didn't look very neet and I don't mind a little light.

    hi great idea, I've worked with that material b4 and its fun to work with....you can find it for free sometimes at convenience stores from signs &displays.
    To fix that gap at the bottom you could cut out 2 or 3 ribs leaving 2 long flaps and roll the glass up into the material:)

      Ha! Yes, I considered that but I think it might make that edge a bit flimsy. It'll curl up and be hard to get the glass to fit right. So instead, I'm just gonna use a leftover strip about 2 inches and glue it to the bottom edge.😁

      Coroplast is also a popular material used for election signs. After election night, you pick up as much as you want. You'll just have to spray paint to get rid of the candidates message.
      A split foam tube, designed as insulation for for water pipes, could be applied to the bottom edge that meets the glass and eliminate any minor gaps.

    That's a great idea! I want to make one and fiberglass it with reinforcements to make it so someone cant just rip it out to gain access to the inside of the vehicle.

      Yes! I would love to do something like that, too. I was thinking maybe carbon fiber.

    I was going to make similar vents, but coroplast is certainly a better choice than the material that I had in mind...thanks.

      Glad I could help. You could try it with cardboard first just for practice.

      @@VantasticPacifica the only concern have is : safety. When you park at night, in the middle of nowhere...
      Isn't that so?

      @@theforeigner6988 Well I don't park in the middle of nowhere. I'm usually a little to the left of nowhere. Lol! But if you're suggesting these window vents are not secure, you're absolutely right! They're just flimsy plastic. That said, I never had any security issues but that could just be luck.
