This is probably the best implementation of an active vehicle cooling concept I've seen so far. I'm genuinely intrigued now.

Like many other cooling or ventilation systems, my guess is that it works well when the temperatures aren't extreme and you can get a cross breeze. I've tried just about all the DIY and commercial products and the reality is that once the outside temp gets to the high 80's or 90s (F) and the Sun is beating down on the roof of your vehicle, there's not much you can do without a real air conditioner. True story. Having said that, I would bet that it works great when temps are in the 70's.

You should put the solar panels on the outsides of the modules, since many of us in hot environments put reflective blinds in both our windshields when we leave our vehicles. It would be helpful, too, if the two modules could be wired to each other across the back or roof of the vehicle, and programed to switch which module blows outwards vs. inwards according to which side the sun is shining more directly onto, if either. Besides which, it would be pretty hard to drive with the sun reflecting off of the solar panels on the dashboard and onto the front windshield, or directly into the driver's eyes.
Also, how well does this do in a carwash, or, more to the point, a blowing storm? Does it keep the water out?

I ordered one for myself. I haven't received it yet, but while I was scouring for reviews, one mentioned using suction cups he tied on there held it in place against the windshield and faced towards the sun. He then put the blinds behind it as normal.

@@pabloeskobar727 Again this does nothing to protect the exterior of the windshield and the expensive safety cameras from the sun.
This has a flawed design. No way I am going to stop using an exterior windshield cover that goes OVER my integrated cameras from the outside.
I guess I'll just use a cheap $20 one for now with the solar panel attached and have to cut the window moulds to fit, which is what I was trying to avoid.

@@teddym2808nobody asked you, why don’t you just tape the solar panels to your solar shield dummy, or better yet since you have money get a sewing shop to sew them into the solar shield so it looks stock and won’t be ghetto or target for theft. Use your brain child

It is not to draw air from the outside in rather it is to air from the inside and blow it out.

  • @teddym2808

I was sold until I saw the dashboard solar panel. I have an outside windshield solar cover and there is no way I am going to stop using that as it PROTECTS the safety cameras embedded in the windshield. This will do nothing to stop the intense heat of direct sunlight pelting non stop on those cameras (which is also why inside windshield covers are no good as they also do not protect the glass itself or cameras on modern cars from the sun). What a shame there isn't a small attachable solar panel option. Oh well.
