They only really attack the Eldar and other Xenos because they're still loyalists. Having a good standard of hygiene is just part of being not a disgusting devil worshipper. Sort of like how the Alpha Legion and Iron Warriors both tend to be perfectly normal because they don't actively or intentionally worship the Chaos Gods, more so use their *gifts* for advantages.

The good thing is when you write stories like this with the "oh sh**" moment is that its totally plausible because among the trillions of individuals in the Imperium there are a VERY limited amount of people who has seen Astartes before and lived. Furthermore, you are a really informed person if you can tell the difference between loyal and traitor marines. Spikes and skulls usually give it away tho but to the average citizen meeting an astartes is like us meeting the Nephelim described on the Sumerian clay tablets 6000 years ago.

The last story made me consider how irresponsible the blood angels are for letting their mentally ill brothers loose. They not only pose a threat to their enemies but to any civilian unlucky enough to cross their path.
To be fair, that battle brother was assumed dead after 200 years. Not to mention being in the death company. He wasn't the only one deployed to kick some black legion ass but he was the last man standing and without things to kill his body shut down and went sleeping.

Warhammer 40k is a perfect place for horror. Some would say that it’s hard to get scared of things when the protagonists are trained soldiers or genetically modified demigods in power armor. But when you do it right, it truly works. This is a great Halloween treat!
It s the predator movie principle: the more badass and skilled your characters are, the scarier it is when they come face to face with something that actually threatens them.
I would agree completely with you and counter with " The Them" who would say such things. I always see the tiny sliver of hope ( Human Imperium and other pusherbackers) as nothing more than a failing flickering flash-light trying to hold back the endless dark. It's about forces beyond the arrogance of our most versed knowledge base. Then there's the inherent horrorific fetishism of holy suffering of the good guys.
Black library can pack their backs and retire. You sir and your team make stellar warhammer audio dramas and stories. You capture the real essence of the world and the grim dark. But I would wish to see a lighthearted / comedy type of story one day. A day of horus just trying manage the cluster fuck that is his rebellion. Horus with a mug with coffee and another mug with pain killers for his headache 🤣🤣

Finally got to finish all the stories here and amazing work as always! The writing is so much better and varied stories than we get from the BL. Then the voice work and audio makes it perfect. Really a worthy successor of audio dramas.
