I once heard a story about a chaos dreadnought which was even more insane.
Regular knights have the ghosts too but they’re more like advisors and wise grandfathers
@@Turnil321yeah I know what you mean. If I understood it right he went insane because he was not put to sleep like the usual dreadnoughts meaning he was alone in a sarcophagus for literal thousands of years.
No wonder they went insane 😅
@Turnil321 Chaos Hellbrutes are basically corrupted dreadnought. They are purposely kept awake in their captivity, until being released usually by drop pod right in the middle of the enemy.
Well thats gotta be fuckin awful especially for a Chaos knight, constantly having your loyalist ancestors calling out to you to return even while your more recent predecessors are calling for blood, it's more than having your mind split 10 different ways, its like having half those ways use your mind as a literal battleground to fight the other half!

It's like being hooked on drugs. Even though you don't want to do it you still do it.
The part that hits hardest is realizing that every pilot, every princep, every servitor is bombarded with the remnants of every predecessor. The strength of spirit and mind must be stronger with every passing. This feeling is especially powerful with those that have merged with the machine spirit. I cannot imagine being paired with not only an AI, but every great soul before me. That level of strength and fortitude is beyond words...
It's easy to forget that while the knight is piloted by a single person, there are much more than one person inside it.
This is how you remind the reader, you show the voices.
I rewatched the video again with headphones, and I can feel the voices *INSIDE MY HEAD*, that is how profound Paul and the other voice actors managed to capture the conflict voices.
I once felt how it is to have a voice in your mind, telling you think that you don't want to hear, thank god it is way behind me, but I can understand very well how is the sensation of having something stuck on your mind, I can emphasize

Incredible. What a savage life chaos knights lead - fighting their mount, their past lives, their enemies, their friends.
Finally one of my favorite chaos sub factions getting the attection that it deserve. I also love how well you depicted the torment that the ghost of the throne submit to their pilot. I doubt that any mind could hold a whole bombardement of screams of shame,hate and madness all at the same time

Absolutely fantastic - the multiple voices gave a real sense of the madness and *ahem* chaos of the protagonist. All your recordings are great and this is another gem. I always look forward to your new releases and my only complaint is that there could never be enough of them!

Great work as always vox, shout out to including the sharks in this piece, they don't get enough love.
Loved the characterization of the knight itself, from being a mad beast being held back from a rampage to being a whimpering pup with its tail between its legs.
Really immerses you in the existence of a pilot being snapped in and out of the battlefield! Adds much more depth of whats actually going on inside the knight
This is by far my favorite story, it's so vivid and the character development in such a short amount of time.

Those Imperial Knights who forsake their vows to the Imperium and the Emperor believe that they will become masters of their own fates, but little do they realize that they the Dark Gods of Chaos will never waste an opportunity to possess a powerful war machine as their steeds without Daemons influence. Once a Daemon takes control of a Knight Machine Spirit there will be a eternity of suffering and pain for the pilot and their ancestors who once wielded this powerful weapon, and just amusing laughter by the Ruinous Powers.
Holy shit, this is one of your best yet Vox! The voices, the flow, with headphones on it works beautifully in a horrific discord of conflict. You and Chaotic Voices did amazingly 💙
Also having some love for Carcharodons and Red Corsairs is very welcome

If you look through the comments some members of the community have broken down how chaos knights (and knights in general) work in 40k. Multiple ghosts in the machine from past pilots etc. Glad you enjoyed it though!
Yeah, I didn’t really understand it that well either, it was a brief one setting-time wise, so perhaps that’s all it was. I mean Vox makes the best Warhammer videos period so I’m not criticizing that but the story got so disjointed it sort of lost impact to me. Sometimes the premise overrides the story and while it may be good from the perspective of what a Chaos Knight deals with, I think the topic, if this complex, can only be told in a longer form. Perhaps the author has plans to extend this concept out though and this was just to figure out how he wanted the reality to seem.
