I know this is six years old basically but I searched up a review because I literally just finished this and jesus this anime was very good. There were a few gripes I had with it of course but this was a very nice romance/slice of life anime that I would definitely watch again.

Yeah, i’m a few years late on the anime, but man oh man am I glad that I had some friends recommend it. You hit so many points that I felt were done well, especially in that they all feel like amazingly likable, and well written characters. Which, made it all the more painful when the anime hit you with the feels train.
I really liked this review as a huge fan of Toradora and slice of life anime.

Love how you explained Toradora
Toradora is my first romance anime that drawn me into the romance genre.
It's kinda like a dish that looks plain but packs a powerful punch once you taste it.

Thanks for the anime-fan insights. I'm not into anime so much, I just found Toradora completely by accident (wanted to watch some cute anime girls on a sunday evening, Netflix suggested Toradora, quickly checked it if it is any good, aaaand got fully hooked about 2 hours later. Thanks Toradora)
It's funny that this video is over 5 years old, the main wave of toradora adoration was around 2015 wasn't it?
Well at that time there was only the english dub, the german dub only was introduced about 2 years later.
(Highly recommend the german dub by the way)
Fantastic review! I have to agree with all the points you brought up. And I absolutely love the thought of this show, like all animes, being an art form, some won't like it at all and others, it will touch thier hearts. I am fairly new to the anime scene and this anime captured my heart. I love it. So hearing an upbeat and appreciative review is just great. And lastly, glad someone else enjoyed the dub! I can't watch subs, not that they're bad, but for me I don't have the same connection to the characters and emotions when I have to read everything. Has to do with my ADD, so the dub was a blessing on how well it was done, Cassandra Morris' take on Taiga made me love the character even more... Anyway, I'm done rambling. Just had to commend you on this lovely review, nice insight. Definitely liked and subbed!

I usually loathe self-promo-comments, but seeing your review, I gotta say.. Amazing work, really. Well-grounded and well explained opinions all over the place, with a smooth mix of humour. I just did a marathon throughout the night watching the series, and it was nice to see some of my thoughts being "reflected" in a way through this review, as well as the video you posted this link at.

New Anime Review
I agree with everything that you have said here. I recently just finished this anime, and I loved every last second of it. One complaint I did have was the last episodes did feel a bit rushed, but I was able to look past that while look at the overall picture. It seems a common complain is people think that Ryuuji didn't show any form of love up until the last 6 episodes. I don't think this true at all. To me, it is apparent through the whole show, you just have to look. It seems he just didn't realized he loved her up until she got hurt in that accident. Not to mention he had always treated her more as a little sister or daughter than a love interest. I also find it funny that Minorin knew that the two were meant to be together the whole time. Which is why she always kind of shrugged Ryu's feelings off. Allowing herself to get hurt in the end rather than Taiga. Same going for Ami. She very obviously loved him, but was just trying to make sure people didn''t start getting hurt. The character development was amazing in this show. The OVA was also a nice little thing. Mainly the last scene when you get to see them again after Toradora ended. Overall this anime will continue to be one of my favorites. Thanks for the awesome review!

This show spoke to me. I loved it. But why did you have to play Lost Pieces during the video? It hit me right in the feels.

Ryuji and Taiga both start out on their quest for their respective perfect mates. Flaws for both are emphasized. Their crushes are shown to be nearly perfect in the start, getting more human towards the close. Minori happens to be a good friend of Taiga's just as Yusaku is a rare good friend to Ryuji. Taiga starts out not really needing Ryuji's help in pursuing Yusaku, but her own flaws elsewhere, and episode circumstances make her attainment of Ryuji's help and companionship the path of the series.
The show later reveals Yusaku's crush on council president Sumire Kano (the show's most success bound eligible bachelorette). The show regularly depicts how many girls generally desire Yusaku for his great personality, athleticism, build, high grades, and future earnings potential. He sacrifices the easy path of a girlfriend today for his image of perfection (becoming great enough for Sumire). He was one of many love confessors to Taiga the year before (his only early flaw). His hidden desire for Sumire decided his rejection of Taiga's confession to him. He justifies it by showing how she did not even remember year ago confession to her last year.
Much is hidden about Minori in the beginning, and slowly revealed as the series progress. Her many part time jobs were never explained, but provides a great sacrificial gift near the end for the 2 MC's . She herself discovers , and compliments many great attributes to Ryuji that Taiga mainly took for granted. She realizes that Ryuji is a hidden jem of a guy, not quite polished. Her vow of unforgiveness to Ryuji in the beginning for any future abandonment of Taiga sets the limit for how her personal relationship him later ends up. She is set up in a web of sacrifices of several directions. I think her many jobs were to control her time. Time was made unavailable for boyfriends. School, softball, part time jobs. She made herself available for the trip to Ami's beachhouse. She made herself unavailable to the Christmas party. Ryuji's early attraction to Minori is her cheerfulness towards him when most others shun him for his delinquincy eyes. It is clear that Ryuji has no way to get closer to Minori without help. Ryuji finally realizes that Taiga also saw past his delinquincy eyes. The series shows several layers of love, driving towards a deeper, not so much on the surface layer perceived by most of the classmates.

Perfect anime to balance comedy, sweetness, melodrama, and impactful, likable and smart characters.
I really enjoyed this review. I'm a big fan of Gigguk and Demo as well, so I can definitely see the similarities, which isn't a bad thing. I also got a vibe of Hollow ua-cam.com/users/TamerainProductions as well. I have seen many reviews of Toradora over the years, and while you brought up some points that have been brought up before, you were able to make it interesting and you portrayed your ideas very well. You earned a sub from me, so keep up the good work and I will be looking forward to your next review.

I found out about this Anime last week... I binge watched it over the weekend... over 2 nights WHY DID I NOT FIND OUT ABOUT THIS WHEN IT CAME OUT IN 2014! Sigh... I loved this anime....

Dude, just saw this review and I really enjoy your review. No, I don't think you understand that I truly do enjoy your review. But, there are problems.
One, do your own thing. Don't try to mimic other reviewers. TBH I didn't get any vibes from Gigguk but Demo in your review as you mentioned. It's quite ironic for someone to say that they dislike the use of cliche but try to copy someone else.
Second, the spoiler images...It is quite obvious that Ryuuji and Taiga will end up together, but 6:38 was too much.
Other than that, you've earned yourself a subscriber :3
Thank you for your constructive comment. I am still working on getting my style. and you can see it evolve through my reflections. I like to think my videos are generally more informative than Gigguk's but I haven't really nailed down Demo's comedic timing.

Hey NebulaGX, So I can't actually reply to your comment but in terms of other anime like Toradora, I don't know, its kind of unique. There is plenty of slice of life out there, I'm currently watching Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, which according to some, floats around in the same pond as Toradora, so you might consider checking that out.

just finished this show yesterday...my only real complaint is that I wish the show had either a few more episodes or a follow up of some kind that allowed me to look into the aftermath of these relationships. I really liked the characters by the end of the series and i wish they shared a few more stories after the end of the series. oh well. wonderful show.

gzarza there were more stories that didn't make it to the anime and some fights between Ryuji and Taiga were toned down which were affected IMO. They reduced their impacts such the pool fight or when Ryuji is drowning where shows Taiga in despair trying to pull him out of the water. There are mini fights that didn't make it in the anime as well that IMO were essential for building their relationship. If they had added at least 5 more episodes Toradora would of been a master piece, not as an anime but as a TV show. As an anime is one of the best for havig complex characters and one of the best character development I've ever seen, just a few more details would of made the show just a whole lot better.

@@Departedreflections absolutely, w/o her goading minorin they would have never gotten to a true ending, kitamura made it clear (as early as episode 2) that he supported ryuji and taiga and would only remain platonic with taiga, but along the series you see snippets of minorins true feelings and episode 16 is the highlight of this, along w ami's jabs, that starts the true road to the end
Also she is taigas antagonist, quite literally, she is the exact opposite of her in almost every aspect. I won't say she steals the show but w/o her the character development and the series development would have been stale, sry for rambling, I'm not a huge romcom fan but this anime is far above the rest and I love geeking out w fellow nerds lol

because they did not take out the second season of Toradora happens my friend waited a long time and died a year ago in a car accident and I also wait so long no longer haguanto longer please take the second season of Toradora was the ask
