    Very ironic that you posted this video. Just last week my wife and I went to Portland and we went to Eugene to the Truman factory and I did a fitting. I am a 12.25 C width (almost a B) and they fitted me in an 11.5 D. I really liked the boots but decided to wait and see if/when they have my size in a factory second. And, I looked at the boots you have and also thought "wow, those are kind of orange".

    I bought a pair from a company called Urban Wolf in Mexico, custom made for me. They have you draw your feet outline and measurements. Took about a month to get them. Such a beautiful boot but too heavy and stiff for me at my age. Sixty plus retired nurse. I returned them and I was telling him about the weight and being overbuilt for me. He is now making me a new pair with lighter everything. No heavy duty reinforcement or additional material for me. Such a great man to work with and I had no idea he would be able to do that. Guess how much? One fifty American. No tax or shipping.

    I love orange boots. I have quite a few, Viberg in Tan Cypress, Parkhurst in Seidel tan, Grant Stone in tan calf, and in Badelassi saddle tan. I love the color tone. It looks so good with denim. Cheers, have fun breaking those in!

    My initial impression, Copper Rough and Tough on steroids. Can't say it's for me but can certainly appreciate it. The more I watch Truman reviews, the more I'm liking them.

    Yes, I’ve wanted a pair of Truman’s for awhile as well but have never pulled the trigger due to so many people citing sizing issues. Great looking boot.

      Yeah I just got the java waxed flesh boots and had to send them back for being too small. They said to order a half size down and it didn't work. Then I had to pay over $50 to send it back and it's been a week and haven't heard anything about them yet.

    • @tonymoore2100

      For me, the sizing is the same as every other boot, except for Viberg. Go down a half size from your Brannock size. Done.

      @@tonymoore2100 thanks for the advice, some said it was too narrow compared to grant stone and parkhurst at the same size, that’s why I was a little hesitant

      @@caleballen8862 I haven't looked, but I bet Truman has a pretty good return policy if you need to swap them. Parkhurst Boots definitely seem to have a little bit of added width. But I'm the same size in both brands.

      @@tonymoore2100 hello, i just bought a pair of trumans in dark coyote rough out size 12ee. not snug. not sloppy. just a pretty good fit. my question is what would you recommend for a viberg service boot? my guess is 11. not sure which last is roomiest. thanks!

    Great clicking to get both boots to look so similar. I got my first Trumans recently and they're very well made. They use a full length sockliner and cork filler. You're right that the filler isn't that important. Cork and foam are both cheap, the fancier option is wool felt.

    • @YouShoe-1985
      @YouShoe-1985  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for that info. That full sock liner is a great touch. You’re right, clicking is an art and they nailed it here.

    I buy a lot of expensive boots (Truman is the cheapest, in fact), but the Trumans I have are the most solid build of all of them. Incredible quality. Red Wings shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence! :)

    I think after breaking them in and conditioning them, I think they will patina well. I am thinking about the same boot at Nick's. They have a Wickett-Craig leather in a double stuffed Mojave leather that come close to those Truman's. But, they are almost $900 and I have been on a boot spree in the last 2 yrs...3 pairs of Whites alone and just ordered a pair JK boots...I hope you get some wear out of them..

    How would you choose between the Iron Ranger and the Truman Boot in 79 last? I can find factory seconds in the Iron Ranger for about 270 dollars. I was told by Truman that the chances of finding an 11.5 D in factory seconds were very slim. Since most of the Truman boots range from 480-510 dollars are Truman boots worth 200+ dollars when compared to Iron Ranger? I am looking for a casual and rugged cap toe boot. Thank you!

    • @YouShoe-1985
      @YouShoe-1985  2 місяці тому +1

      Good question! For $270 I think the IRs are the way to go. They are build extremely well and are very comfortable when broken in. The Truman’s are overbuilt but worth the extra money.

    Nice review! Are you worried at all about how tough it is to flex your foot in this? I bought one and am barely able to get any flexing as I walk, maybe due to the structured toe, but maybe because it's too small. Considering a size up, especially as there seems to be too much room between the laces when they are fullly laced up. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

    • @YouShoe-1985
      @YouShoe-1985  22 години тому

      It sounds like you may want to size up but I have noticed with Truman’s they have a bigger gap between the laces as part of the design.

      @@YouShoe-1985 Got it -- and do you feel that there is enough length for you? Really hard to tell as I have some other trumans in the same size which fit a bit better, maybe the lining is just so substantial that it really makes it feel that much tighter. For example, there isn't enough room in the front for me to be able to stand on the ball of my foot. Thanks again for the quick response!

    love truman boots. this leather has such dynamic character. once you move through your boot journey getting boots with high character leathers will be very easy and natural. just like with raw denim you level up to selvage then you will dive into the big slub character as you progress.
