Home repair and boots…nice touch! 😂 Been dying to get a pair of Truman’s so jumped on a pair last week of 79 Last-Charcoal Grizzlies samples half-size down and they were too tight across the bridge and toe box. Shoulda stayed with my Brannock on the 79 last. Buyer beware! Otherwise, quality and craftsmanship was amazing!
I’m an 11C Brannock and Truman recommend I get a 10 1/2 D but kinda nervous to do that. Wish they did like the Spokane makers and had a showroom where you could try on.
@@scottc77 Hear ya…I’d stick with your Brannock but you also are a C and they are compensating with the D which will give you width bc they run tight as I mentioned. If you love the boots style and leather, get you Brannock and you can always return it. Their support was great to me and even let me return a set of seconds.
I have two pairs of Truman boots, and the initial attraction was because of the 79 last which is an old-fashioned work boot last probably from the 1920s. The fit is very similar to Red Wing’s #8 last. I prefer the extra layer of leather that Truman provides between the sole and the boot. I I hope the company continues to be successful, despite having far less to offer now.
I have 5 pairs of Truman’s (Coach, Stone Ramblers, Java, Dark Coyote & Black Oiled Flesh) and they’re great boots I must say. Normally the boots are made and you just wait 2-5 days to arrive to your door. I’ll never order from Nicks, Whites or the others due to the loooong waiting times, 8-12 months for a pair of boots to arrive is ridiculous, at least for me.
Awesome video!! Im so glad you finally did a Truman review. Truman is my favorite brand after Nicks (of course). I disappointed they changed their MTO options and now its only ready made. You cant beat Truman leathers though...if they added some Wickett & Craig leather it would be on another level.
I have a pair of oakstreet boots that have a very similar “hairy finish”!! Not sure where the leather is from. It’s a red walnut color that is very unique! Really love them!! Love yours as well I have about 10 pairs of Truman’s and really love them. They have gone up in price recently but what hasn’t. Love the unique leathers and their customer service is super!! Thanks again
Still the best d@mn channel on UA-cam. They have a 9.5D in that Snuff Rough Mohawk Upland that I've been eyeing now for a week or so. For a pretty good discount as well.....$380!!!! That's my exact size too. I just don't know if I'm willing to gamble that much on a non-returnable pair. These were worn as a sample, and I'm sure they spiff them up a bit before sending them back out, but I just don't know if I'm comfortable with it......🙌 I am super interested in the brand. Especially given the insight you've provided. I trust your opinion on products, and I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule, to make these productions, and share that insight with us. My hats off to you, Sir. Wear them in good health..... 🥃
Hey, I don't know if you're putting together your yearly Flannel video yet, but I'd love to know your opinions on The Vermont Flannel Company. They seem like they'd be a good fit for your channel. Cut and sewn in the USA!
I got a pair of oxblood double shot uplands right before they switched to the ready stock model and they have been the most comfortable boot out of the box ive ever had. Worth every penny
Really enjoyed this review, Carl. Unique boots for sure and all of your thoughts were right on, too. Likely you mentioned this but I missed it, what is the typical lead time for Truman boots? Thanks for showing us these cool boots. "Like on our first date." LMAO! As an aside, you're sure right about some PNW boots being used for casual wear. My Nicks chocolate shrunken bison boots are my "goin' to town" boots.
I got their Black Oil-Tanned Roughout. It's the Mohammed Ali of leathers -- gives and takes a beating while still looking just as pretty as the day it was born.
I have a pair of the double shot cap toes in brown...want to get a pair of their cypress. They recommended a D they're a bit snug for my taste (I used their form and told I'm an 11E in Nicks' and those are perfect) so probably got to their EE. I really like the way they do their welt...much cleaner than my Nick's and JKs.
Love your content. I always reference your videos when shopping for a new item. I just discovered "Truman Boot Co." I ordered the coach ramblers. I also just ordered a Filson Tin cloth Jacket. I love the heritage look and I am amassing a nice collection of pieces.
I don't see this leather on the Truman website (is it a members only thing?) but I was just looking at a boot Bordon released with a very similar CF Stead leather and it looks pretty awesome
Truman cycles out what options are available based on their leather stock. I also think they are trying to switch to the ready-made boot model. These ones have just cycled out, but they might come back if Truman gets more of the leather in stock further down the road.
Ack! The mohawk leather looked so cool! Great choice. How are you finding the fit of the 79 Last? Did you get a wide size? I'm afraid the heel-to-toe ratio wouldn't work for me: too much room in the heel and not enough on the pinky toe side. I'm planning to visit them and Baker's to do some fitting later this year.
It wasn't immediately apparent in the b-roll shots so I'm wondering if the tongue on these is gusseted or not. Even if it's only up a few eyelets it'd be better than nothing.
It’s not fully gusseted, and you can see a shot where I pulled the tongue out. I believe it’s in the second half of the video, but you are correct in your suspicion.
@@CarlMurawski Thanks Carl. I saw that shot and assumed the worst but I thought inquiring would be a good idea in case it was only done up a few eyelets or something. Thanks for the reply!

Am I the only one who personally doesn’t like speed hooks? There’s so many boot brands that I love, that I’d like better if you could choose full eyelets over speed hooks.
I still can't completely determine if their boots are "worth" the money because I have yet to see a pair cut in half or taken some in for resole that they were supposedly changing some aspects of their production, blah, blah, BUT they typically look nice and fit correctly.
But I still complain that they usually put the outsole I don't want or don't have the higher shaft height and all that, which kept me from buying one pair because I didn't need ANOTHER 6" boot when I liked the color a bit.
Do you just come to my videos to leave rude comments followed by a “🤦🏻♂️” emoji? You left another one on my John Lofgren video immediately before this. Man, you were smart getting in early on those Kreosote Nailshank boots. I think you said you paid $900 for your pair, they're now commanding $1850!!
I know man, I really lucked out and hate to admit that I might be partially to blame for their price increase… 😣
Man. I don’t need another pair of boots, but ‘Wookiee’ would be a nice addition to my stash.
