When traveling around Afghanistan (and other Muslim-majority countries), I receive many comments about why no women appear in my videos.
The reason is because these societies are largely dominated by men -- and men are the ones who are commonly seen on the streets, driving cars, working in shops and eating in restaurants. For the most part, women stay at home to watch their kids, clean the house, prepare food, etc. This is how the culture has been functioning for thousands and thousands of years, especially right here in Afghanistan.
BUT, that doesn't mean that there aren't as many women as men who are doing inspiring things! In general, women are shy of the camera and they don't want to be exposed for cultural reasons, which is something that I always respect and honor. This is why I do not show many women in my videos.
However, over the last few weeks as I've traveled around Afghanistan, I've been able to sit down with 6 incredible women entrepreneurs to hear their stories. They all have amazing things to say!!
I really enjoyed making this video and I hope that you guys enjoy listening what they have to say, because as we all know, women make the world go 'round!

Weren't they human? Because of American politics millions of innocent people died there, we still lose everyday our young people, they are not human? Now after collecting millions in your account you blame afghans. So sorry, accepting war does not matter where, it will have same effect on anyone. If you will be soldier in US, they will not send you to Disney land to have fun. You will still meet even more dangerous people, drug dealers and other bad guys. So stop judging. My friend, they are not paid and planned from the outside. Afghanistan radical islamists have been that way for decades and even the region has always been more men driven in societies. That way of life goes back hundreds of years. Afghanistan has a very beautiful in landscape and people. I have met several people from Afghanistan myself and they are great people. I know that your country and mine (America) have our issues with one another, but I have the highest admiration for the educational and business drive there of so many young people, especially women in Iran who have the freedom to have degrees in engineering, sciences and business. I really wish Afghanistan's society would follow that same path of freedom for their women.

I am an afghan woman, and i am proud to be. People now should understand that it is only political plans to not let afghans to look up. We can go so far with our knowledge and intelligence, but there are some groups who do not wish this happen. I have my grocery store in Canada, everyone who knows I am afghan, know my hard work. I m proud to be an afghan and love to show to all people that we afghan women can be as strong as men.

Thank you, Drew for using your platform to educate the world on nations otherwise only seen through the media. As Hazaras, life is tough in Afghanistan with a government that has continuously marginalised Hazaras from every aspect of life. It is true, as seen in your last video in Bamiyan that Hazara women exercise greater autonomy than other Afghan women (which I hope will change), but despite this and their talents, positions deserved by Hazara women in government and other significant places are stripped away from them on grounds of qawm (ethnicity). Anyhow, thank you again, for featuring such resilient and intelligent Hazara women. I appreciate your work immensely.
